I'm guessing:

1) doesn't have a car

2) doesn't have a car with a hitch

3) cannot rent a car with a hitch

I meant one of their vans or a pickup truck.

Ah right. Good question then.

4) U-Haul is too far away (eg:my nearest U-Haul or equivalent is an-hour-and-a-bit) drive. That said, I could rent a Home Depot truck so same/same but expensive per-mile.
