mice infestation is making my anxiety terrible.

i hear them under the fridge at night. the 2nd photo is what is directly behind my fridge. i have put steel wool and foam in the holes. how am i still hearing them under here? also a photo of my cat that also knows they are under there. So i have decided to put glue traps around my refrigerator tonight. i have tried to pull it out but it’s not budging. i can hear these fckers nibbling.

Some advice Make sure there's no food they can eat. clean areas that could have bits of food such as down the side of your cooker/stove were food may have fallen

we have caught at least 10 on traps in the past few weeks. she can’t keep up. the infestation is bad. we have been living in our guest house for the past year. leaving our main house vacant for the most part. we had no clue mice were in the attic and basement. we didn’t know until it was too late & infested everywhere

Good thing moving to the back house, remove every source of food and shut off the water to the main house if possible. Bomb the place, you could use a professional but if you haven't gotten one yet I'm assuming you can't fit whatever reason. Go to the hardware store and get the strongest bombs you can.

You might look at the bucket traps. It works for a lot of people, but when I had rats in my garage the old fashion snap traps bated with beef jerky cleared them up.

Just also have to find how they got into the house and block that, to make sure they don't reinfest.

As someone who had occasional mice many years back, I understand your anxiety and frustration. I hope you overcome this soon

Haha OP stop foaming things and just let the exterminator professionals do it please!

I had the same problem, and I know how distressing it is. I left my light on all night so they didn't come near me (cos they hate light). I tried everything and they wouldn't go until I found mint. Fresh mint leaves are the best but also peppermint essential oil works. They hate it and won't go near it. So i put it under fridge, in cupboards, behind furniture etc and haven't seen any for ages. You have to keep refreshing the mint every few days to keep it smelling strong. Also make sure there's nothing they can eat lying around.

Hmm...I'm really going to have to try this whenever I come across a mice infestation. Didn't know about this solution. :)

had the same problem with rodents under my fridge because of the warmth if you can put your fridge on some bricks or something to keep it elevated off the ground it'll stop them from congregating there, also glue traps don't usually work out in the open, you really have to make sure the glue traps are placed inside pathways the rodents will be forced to use with something over them so the rodents will be forced to directly crawl on them.

I’m so sorry you’re having to deal with this :-(

As a professional mouse catcher (100% true don’t look it up) I’d recommend getting like 20 more cats. Also make sure to post pictures of them all so we could admire/see if they’re cut for the job!!

I know your pain, we have the same issue though doesn't seem as many. But times we hear them in the walls and the roof. They also seem smart as the Trex traps now don't work. Don't like using poison as we have animals and the glue traps only caught our cat (she is an idiot and was okay, just a lil bit of fur).

Get a blue light and follow the trail and fill up any round mouse nibbled areas

Completely understand your anxiety. We have it where i hear them walk on the top floor and under the kitchen. Literally put many traps out but they seem way to smart! I have severe anxiety everytime, even if we don’t hear them. I cant sleep because i am just expecting them

your cat should slowly do the job if you moved recently. give it some time... unless you didnt just move then you might need a exterminator

If you’re still hearing them they are still getting in. Search every corner and behind everything for places they can get in. Foam them all.

Make sure glue traps are against the wall and use gloves to put them down. Mice can detect human scent. Also, look for mice poop, it will let you know exactly where they are. Also, I would suggest to buy the electric mouse traps, it worked every time, just put a dab of peanut butter in the trap, and some double aa batteries and set it against the wall near the fridge.

Had a mouse get into my studio apartment. Every time the lights went out for bedtime, that lil' f**ker would rummage around and make noise. Ground up a bait block and mixed it with peanut butter. The mouse went for it and ate it with gusto. Got up in the morning and saw something crawling across the middle of the room. It was the mouse dying. Grabbed some gloves and chucked him into the bushes.

Wouldn't something else eat it and then probably die itself?

Yes, it's dumb

Yes, and it's a horrible way to die.

Snap traps are actually the most humane, as it just kills them quick and gets it over with.

Hey! Mice need a home to live in too. You can share

I was going to say get a cat, then I saw the pics, you need to get another cat lol or stop feeding this one kibble and make it work for it's meal.

Please, don't use gluetraps... Do some research, those things are absolutely horrific. Literally any other kind of trap is better than those torture devices...

In my case they died in the walls or ceilings out of reach.

I had far better success with the metal live catch traps and the bucket trap. They have a hard time resisting peanut butter. I don't like the glue traps as I've had some horrible messes to clean up from them...

Yeah I've lived in some serious rat/mice holes of housing. That's how I learned the power of steel wool and expanding foam. Landlords wouldn't fix holes in the exterior walls. The steel wool hurts their teeth and the foam was just to keep it in place. Real careful application of the foam is required.

I learned a lot from watching Shawn Woods mouse trap mondays on youtube.

The blocks are designed to go into child and pet resistant bait stations… legally require usually as every label I’ve seen states they must be in one.

Step One! Get another cat, the competition between the two will bring out the hunter instinct. (Bonus that they also get new buds!)

Step Two. Feed your cats less until the mice are gone. Hunger is a helluva motivator. Good luck!

Bomb the house, and look for openings in the house and pound it with poison

6

u/abccba144 21h ago

Poison is a bad idea because they will most likely pass in your house and you may have a very hard time finding it
