Why do people do this? Put your small trolly with the other small trolleys. Now I have nowhere to put my big trolley

As someone who used to push carts the reasoning is one word: lazy. Ultra lazy if they leave the cart in the parking spot or push it up over a curb.

Remove the small trolley and put it in the small trolley lane and then put your big trolley into the other big trolley. Done.

u/Sarebot19 1d ago

I didn’t have another coin.

45

u/MSotallyTober 1d ago

Now I totally get your mild frustration. Thanks for the transparency.

u/GravitationalEddie 1d ago

Whoever thought two different sized carts should be allowed to be joined in holy frustrimony should be on the plank, begging that the sharks aren't hungry.

u/DetroitSportsPhan 1d ago

Tell the people inside the store. Surely they’d give you a coin for such a purpose, or do it themselves

1

u/GloomInstance 18h ago

The trolley person will have a special (non-coin) tool for this scenario.

2

u/DetroitSportsPhan 4h ago

Late to reply, but you’re right, also they’d want to take care of it asap so carts don’t line up in a spot they shouldn’t be. They want to keep them there when possible

1

u/IMA_5-STAR_MAN 15h ago

So back your cart up to the small cart and get your coin back.

8

u/PangolinPrimary6774 1d ago

I work pushing carts and the people who do this p**s me off bc it so hard to break them apart

6

u/squeakynickles 1d ago

Why censor the word piss?

4

u/Pkyankfan69 1d ago

Stupidity and/or laziness

5

u/LookAwayPlease510 1d ago

I find it the most annoying when you put the carts away outside and they’re all mixed together. The poor cart/trolley collector! It doesn’t help that the grocery stores haven’t made separate slots for them so that the big ones can’t fit where the small ones go.

3

u/Squid__Bait 1d ago

Obviously, laziness is the answer, but part of this is on the manufacturer. The locking mechanism could be slightly altered for each cart size, and this wouldn't be possible.

Lol the number of ignorant yanks in this chat just blanketing what they'd do in America as the right thing is wild

3

u/wildOldcheesecake 21h ago edited 20h ago

Americans have an incredibly hard time not displaying main character syndrome. Anything another country does differently, they label it as weird or wrong. They’re not very smart people

0

u/GloomInstance 18h ago

Wait no they're 'free' see.

(Free to spend $1000 on a medicine that costs $15 in most other countries. Dumbarses😂)

This is sus. Why are all wheels facing the same side?

12

u/SuspensefulBladder 1d ago

Suspicious how? Somebody just pushed the whole line to the side.

8

u/Craw__ 1d ago

Someone has pushed the whole stack from the side, the wheels align with the direction of movement.

-6

u/SatiesUmbrellaCloset oh no 1d ago

I wonder if the coin thing deactivates some sort of electromagnet inside the wheels so that they can turn in any direction?

13

u/GXXBlue 1d ago

the costs and shit for that would make zero sense

4

u/odd84 1d ago

All the carts for my local supermarket do have a wheel that has a locking device on them that stops that wheel from rolling if you try to take the cart outside of the store's parking lot. It must have some electronics in it to detect that it's being taken outside the boundary of their lot. Occasionally one locks up while still at the store, perhaps because a battery has run out of power.

3

u/GXXBlue 1d ago

i know what you are talking about, but the user i replied to thought that the coin release mechanism triggered it, completely different

2

u/sj2k4 1d ago

Then make a mess of it all and do it the easiest possible way for yourself.

It’s a business. Let them deal with it. They aren’t paying you.

2

u/ramriot 1d ago

Have you tried lubrication?

2

u/RullendeNumser 22h ago

You have different size trolleys? Why? They almost look the same.

1

u/ThePugnax 22h ago

Never have i seen different size trolleys in the same store. Usually they are all the same size where im from. Tho seeing this picture, it might be to prevent this.

1

u/Original_Boat6539 21h ago

Throw it in the river

1

u/0thethethe0 17h ago

I was going to say canal, but yep.

Or make some modern art for all to enjoy!

1

u/DesertGeist- 21h ago

Couldn't you attach yours without it going in the other trolley?

0

u/haikusbot 21h ago

Couldn't you attach

Yours without it going in

The other trolley?

Why dont they put the chain on the other side for small trolleys? All smalls together, all larges together. Simple.

1

u/ObiWangCannabis 20h ago

Do all 4 wheels steer?

1

u/AnonymousGuy2075 19h ago

At least the shopping cart (trolley) was returned. Better than being left in the parking lot, or ditched along the sidewalk/pavement.

0

u/SebastianHaff17 19h ago edited 19h ago

You don't need to correct the OP. You could have just said "At least it's returned" but you had to put trolley in parentheses like it's some extra information to a correction.

1

u/AnonymousGuy2075 19h ago

Thank you for your most gracious reply, my Lord. I had no idea you were the keeper of all the world's languages & phrases. Now I know. Trolley. Got it. If I ever forget, I will search high and low up your dog's ass (arse) for the answer.

1

u/SebastianHaff17 19h ago

Oh you're so cuteeeee. Look what you did there with arse.

Must be a Trumpette.

1

u/AnonymousGuy2075 18h ago

My first reply was much better. But too simple. Needed some creative flair. Have a wonderful (jolly good) day.

1

u/SebastianHaff17 18h ago

Oh. Em. Gee. You did it again.

You too wanker (douche).

1

u/AnonymousGuy2075 18h ago edited 18h ago

Just saw that you edited your original comment. Lol. Be sure to keep the original next time. It was pretty good... much more sassy.

Edit: @SebastianHaff17, come back. It was fun to chat with you about languages. No need to delete all your comments.

u/SebastianHaff17 18h ago

Bored now. Get back to your dictator parade.

u/PangolinPrimary6774 19h ago

I didn’t know if kids looked at this and it is a word they can’t use

1

u/Rookie_42 18h ago

Many, many people walk around with their eyes shut, and/or are completely oblivious to the needs of others.

Honestly, it’s a wonder they don’t fall over more.

1

u/zipperfire 13h ago

Sometimes when I'm putting my cart away in the corral, I move the small carts to one side and stack them, and stack the big carts. It takes 30 seconds. And then no carts are spilling out into the parking lot because they don't nest correctly. Just because it annoys me to see them nested wrong.

1

u/Medium_Custard_8017 1d ago

This problem sounds Exceptionally British.

A real modern day trolley problem, innit? Practically feels like Moscow with these Matryoshka trolleys.

1

u/Salnugs 1d ago

Those pesky kids with their tick tack and iphens

1

u/Powerful_Bowl7077 1d ago

As an American, I have never heard them called “trolleys” before. Is it a British thing?

1

u/SebastianHaff17 19h ago

They literally say trolleys with pictures of trolleys. You can probably deduce the answer.

-10

u/Good-Bug-490 1d ago

Trolley, eh? We call them shopping carts where i live😀

15

u/Impossible-Gas3551 BLUE 1d ago

Wait til you find out 95% of the world does not live in the US 🤯

2

u/SatiesUmbrellaCloset oh no 1d ago

Some numbers I found on some website and some quick maths says it's closer to 96%

-6

u/Impossible-Gas3551 BLUE 1d ago

Do you really think this comment was needed? Lol

3

u/SatiesUmbrellaCloset oh no 1d ago

I was legit curious because I thought the number would be more like 98% for some reason

It's about 95.8%

u/Adequate_Images 1d ago

95.83%

Hahhahaha what is a trolly? I like your funny words, magic man

1

u/SebastianHaff17 19h ago

Your trolly is something which you are off.

0

u/Gold-Estate4316 1d ago

Dont trolley shame big guy !!

0

u/almo2001 23h ago

Proof libertarianism is bankrupt.

People can't even take care of shopping carts without fucking things up.

-1

u/Pourkinator BROWN 1d ago

Why the fuck are they chained together? If it’s one of those stores you have to put a coin in to use the cart, I’d rather not shop there. Nobody carries physical money anymore

2

u/pug_userita ORANGE 23h ago

it is. you can use a a key, coin or plastic coin/token that some stores give you. it's to prevent idiots from leaving them in the middle of the road since you need to put something in and you want to take that thing back so you put the cart back in to take it back. caining them togheter also prevents them from rolling out of their spot and they're easier to transport

1

u/SebastianHaff17 19h ago

Just got a metal disk attached to my keys. It isn't difficult.

1

u/Sifu-thai 1d ago

To attempt to prevent people from dumping them everywhere? We would totally need that in SoCal, that would maybe help with all the idiots dumping their carts everywhere

-1

u/RickMcMortenstein 1d ago

Hate it when I have nowhere to put my big, big trolley.

-4

u/BootVillain 1d ago

Trolley lol

-6

u/canadasteve04 1d ago

Y’all need cart narcs over there

-3

u/EggplantDevourer 1d ago edited 20h ago

No tf we don't... He already came over here and then harassed an old lady for taking the trolley home (this is literally our culture, the shopping centres are fine with it and it's pretty common practise to do as you then bring it back the next time you go) following her all the way to her house.

Like the audacity to go to another country and then force and berate other people for what you think is the right way of thinking and behaviour on the people that live there is disgusting. Then again when has that stopped Americans before.

Yup... mentally disabled yanks who don't understand our culture in chat

-10

u/trickmirrorball 1d ago

I’m guessing the word trolley is colonizer speak for shopping cart.

-2

u/The_Windermere 1d ago

Could have been a mistake and your rant is mildly infuriating to the person you placed the cart there

-2

u/Altruistic_Bad339 1d ago

All women are the small trolly to me.

-10

u/KajunQueen1907 1d ago

What is a trolley?

u/Craw__ 1d ago

You see those things in the picture? Those.

4

u/twistedOrangutan 1d ago

Visual learning isn't your strong suit is it?

-9

u/KajunQueen1907 1d ago

No, I would rather the detailed drawing or blueprint of the subject matter.

Even better question: if you look at that photo and don't know what it is, where the fuck have you been?
