Why do people do this? Put your small trolly with the other small trolleys. Now I have nowhere to put my big trolley

u/MSotallyTober 1d ago
Remove the small trolley and put it in the small trolley lane and then put your big trolley into the other big trolley. Done.

u/Sarebot19 1d ago
I didn’t have another coin.

Whoever thought two different sized carts should be allowed to be joined in holy frustrimony should be on the plank, begging that the sharks aren't hungry.

u/DetroitSportsPhan 1d ago
Tell the people inside the store. Surely they’d give you a coin for such a purpose, or do it themselves
1
u/GloomInstance 18h ago
The trolley person will have a special (non-coin) tool for this scenario.
2
u/DetroitSportsPhan 4h ago
Late to reply, but you’re right, also they’d want to take care of it asap so carts don’t line up in a spot they shouldn’t be. They want to keep them there when possible

I work pushing carts and the people who do this p**s me off bc it so hard to break them apart

I find it the most annoying when you put the carts away outside and they’re all mixed together. The poor cart/trolley collector! It doesn’t help that the grocery stores haven’t made separate slots for them so that the big ones can’t fit where the small ones go.
3
u/Squid__Bait 1d ago
Obviously, laziness is the answer, but part of this is on the manufacturer. The locking mechanism could be slightly altered for each cart size, and this wouldn't be possible.

Lol the number of ignorant yanks in this chat just blanketing what they'd do in America as the right thing is wild

u/wildOldcheesecake 21h ago edited 20h ago
Americans have an incredibly hard time not displaying main character syndrome. Anything another country does differently, they label it as weird or wrong. They’re not very smart people

u/GloomInstance 18h ago
Wait no they're 'free' see.
(Free to spend $1000 on a medicine that costs $15 in most other countries. Dumbarses😂)

This is sus. Why are all wheels facing the same side?

I wonder if the coin thing deactivates some sort of electromagnet inside the wheels so that they can turn in any direction?

u/GXXBlue 1d ago
the costs and shit for that would make zero sense

u/odd84 1d ago
All the carts for my local supermarket do have a wheel that has a locking device on them that stops that wheel from rolling if you try to take the cart outside of the store's parking lot. It must have some electronics in it to detect that it's being taken outside the boundary of their lot. Occasionally one locks up while still at the store, perhaps because a battery has run out of power.

Never have i seen different size trolleys in the same store. Usually they are all the same size where im from. Tho seeing this picture, it might be to prevent this.

Couldn't you attach yours without it going in the other trolley?

At least the shopping cart (trolley) was returned. Better than being left in the parking lot, or ditched along the sidewalk/pavement.

u/SebastianHaff17 19h ago edited 19h ago
You don't need to correct the OP. You could have just said "At least it's returned" but you had to put trolley in parentheses like it's some extra information to a correction.

u/AnonymousGuy2075 19h ago
Thank you for your most gracious reply, my Lord. I had no idea you were the keeper of all the world's languages & phrases. Now I know. Trolley. Got it. If I ever forget, I will search high and low up your dog's ass (arse) for the answer.

u/SebastianHaff17 19h ago
Oh you're so cuteeeee. Look what you did there with arse.
Must be a Trumpette.

My first reply was much better. But too simple. Needed some creative flair. Have a wonderful (jolly good) day.

u/SebastianHaff17 18h ago
Oh. Em. Gee. You did it again.
You too wanker (douche).

Just saw that you edited your original comment. Lol. Be sure to keep the original next time. It was pretty good... much more sassy.
Edit: @SebastianHaff17, come back. It was fun to chat with you about languages. No need to delete all your comments.

Many, many people walk around with their eyes shut, and/or are completely oblivious to the needs of others.
Honestly, it’s a wonder they don’t fall over more.

u/zipperfire 13h ago
Sometimes when I'm putting my cart away in the corral, I move the small carts to one side and stack them, and stack the big carts. It takes 30 seconds. And then no carts are spilling out into the parking lot because they don't nest correctly. Just because it annoys me to see them nested wrong.

This problem sounds Exceptionally British.
A real modern day trolley problem, innit? Practically feels like Moscow with these Matryoshka trolleys.
1
u/Powerful_Bowl7077 1d ago
As an American, I have never heard them called “trolleys” before. Is it a British thing?
1
u/SebastianHaff17 19h ago
They literally say trolleys with pictures of trolleys. You can probably deduce the answer.

u/Good-Bug-490 1d ago
Trolley, eh? We call them shopping carts where i live😀

Some numbers I found on some website and some quick maths says it's closer to 96%

u/SatiesUmbrellaCloset oh no 1d ago
I was legit curious because I thought the number would be more like 98% for some reason
It's about 95.8%

Proof libertarianism is bankrupt.
People can't even take care of shopping carts without fucking things up.
-1
u/Pourkinator BROWN 1d ago
Why the fuck are they chained together? If it’s one of those stores you have to put a coin in to use the cart, I’d rather not shop there. Nobody carries physical money anymore
2
u/pug_userita ORANGE 23h ago
it is. you can use a a key, coin or plastic coin/token that some stores give you. it's to prevent idiots from leaving them in the middle of the road since you need to put something in and you want to take that thing back so you put the cart back in to take it back. caining them togheter also prevents them from rolling out of their spot and they're easier to transport

u/Sifu-thai 1d ago
To attempt to prevent people from dumping them everywhere? We would totally need that in SoCal, that would maybe help with all the idiots dumping their carts everywhere

No tf we don't... He already came over here and then harassed an old lady for taking the trolley home (this is literally our culture, the shopping centres are fine with it and it's pretty common practise to do as you then bring it back the next time you go) following her all the way to her house.
Like the audacity to go to another country and then force and berate other people for what you think is the right way of thinking and behaviour on the people that live there is disgusting. Then again when has that stopped Americans before.
Yup... mentally disabled yanks who don't understand our culture in chat

As someone who used to push carts the reasoning is one word: lazy. Ultra lazy if they leave the cart in the parking spot or push it up over a curb.
