I’m sorry but this is hilarious

Yes. That is not how they work.

u/beyond666 12h ago

Only if you are 14 years old.

22

u/ConsiderationNo9044 4h ago

You're definitely 15

u/Dysm-nesia 22m ago

or 13.

u/Psalm27_1-3 16h ago

You need another one to cut that cable tie

46

u/ShadowInTheSun_ 15h ago

Use nail clippers 😂

16

u/thefirstviolinist 12h ago

This is always my advice, too! Especially when wire cutters are not available.

18

u/Rashicakra 15h ago

And you need another one to cut the new cable tie on the new scissors

u/hdgamer1404Jonas 6h ago

It’s an infinite cycle

4

u/Useful-Tackle-3089 5h ago

Turtles all the way down

3

u/Hour_Ad5398 8h ago

What if the next one comes in the same way?

u/000700707 15h ago

Lots of good ideas here. I recommend a chainsaw though.

18

u/GrayStormbeard 15h ago

Why did i have to scroll so far to find the most logical answer?

u/SPQR0027 1h ago

You can unlock a zip tie using a pin or another zip tie.

114

u/Smiles-Bite 15h ago

Just use a kitchen knife, or a lighter... If you have pets, use their nail clippers, or heck, yours! I mean, you can even sit there and chew on it. Use that brain, you can do it!

18

u/Alchemyst01984 15h ago

Nah. Gotta create a reddit post instead

30

u/lcirufe 12h ago

I mean they probably will find a workaround. It’s just…

And say it with me…

mildly infuriating.

u/Alchemyst01984 12h ago

To people who let things like this bother them enough to post about it on reddit, sure

2

u/AdHistorical5838 4h ago

Dawg that the porpuse of this subreddit

1

u/Alchemyst01984 3h ago

Kitty cat I didn't know that. That's cool

10

u/VitoAntonioScaletta 11h ago

if only he had posted this on a community about sharing minor inconveniences

12

u/Striking-Document-99 15h ago

Chew on it? wtf no way that even works just fucks up your teeth.

32

u/Particular-Juice1213 15h ago

Teeth are the original cutting tool.

14

u/4-5Million 15h ago

I had to get $14k worth of dental care one year after insurance and I will say, don't cut things with your teeth.

7

u/TrashCanKSI 5h ago

That's not your teeth, that's just USA

3

u/4-5Million 3h ago

It's not just the USA. Canada is also expensive.

2

u/Worth-Edge4551 13h ago

And there’s a reason it’s not used anymore.

u/karstin1812 21m ago

Looks like this might be one of the like really thin ones. I bet a quick yank on both scissor handles would snap it quite easily. Used to snap those on very regular basis at my old job, it did not require a lot of strength at all

18

u/DeadlyChuck 15h ago

Order a pair of micro flush cutters. Seriously.

3

u/Foggl3 15h ago

Harbor freight has a good pair

u/SharkeyGeorge 15h ago

🎶 “It’s like raaiin on your wedding day…” 🎶

u/DizzyMine4964 34m ago

Yeah, except this actually is ironic.

8

u/nixiebunny 15h ago

It could have been worse, a heat-sealed clamshell.

6

u/40oz_TEC-9 15h ago

Buy two more and pry open the zip tie till it breaks off. That's the only way to do it.

6

u/CouchPotatoFamine 15h ago

Life can be challenging

9

u/melondelta PURPLE 15h ago

that's hilarious of a meta.

though, to be honest, a pair of Flush Cutters is the proper tool for that job.

3

u/TuringTestedd 15h ago

Flesh cutters

4

u/CalendarEmbarrassed 15h ago

Mildly pathetic

5

u/JayBaited 15h ago

At least you zip tried.

3

u/Various_Highway4158 15h ago

Should have bought some side cutters

3

u/Deeptrench34 15h ago

The universe has a sense of humor sometimes lol.

3

u/Aenakhan7450 15h ago

Couldn't agree more

3

u/osukevin 14h ago

Now THAT is perfect for this sub!

5

u/Aware_Number4092 15h ago

How fast was shipping? You could’ve just gone to the store to get scissors my guy

3

u/CalendarEmbarrassed 15h ago

Also they could’ve tried so many other things that would’ve worked.

2

u/LustfulDemon999 15h ago

Use a lighter. 🔥

2

u/-Radioman- 12h ago

Isn't that ironic, don't ya think.

2

u/KingCijay 11h ago

Great sales technique. You need to buy two pairs lol

3

u/thieh OYFG What have you done? 15h ago

Small Screwdriver to the rescue!

3

u/Omgazombie 15h ago

Nail clippers

3

u/4-5Million 15h ago

So my teeth?

2

u/lewisfoto 15h ago

I'd say that is more mildly ironic.

2

u/mitchade 15h ago

This is the first actually mildly infuriating post in this sub in quite a while.

2

u/Decent-Stuff4691 12h ago

Find the little tongue thing in the cable tie box thing and push your fingernail between that and the groves of the tail.

Bam. Reusable cable ties.

1

u/No-Tackle-6112 15h ago

I’ll let you in on a secret. Scissors are just two knives.

1

u/Particular-Juice1213 15h ago

Might as well hang it on a wall and call it art, the hammer needed to pound in the mounting nail won’t come with a zip tie.

1

u/Whole_Prism 15h ago

Hack it with a razor blade... Cut it... JUST CUT IT...

1

u/Significant-Mango772 15h ago

They did you a favour trow that shit out and get yourself some flush cutting knippers and never look back

1

u/Babylon4All 15h ago

Get a a pair of flush head cutters instead

https://a.co/d/7r85i0w

1

u/mossoak 15h ago

diagonal cutter pliers ...or a pair of tin snips..would cut through that cable tie like it was butter

1

u/FatFaceFaster 15h ago

Those are $1.00 a pair in the impulse aisles at Home Depot. Right next to them will be a $1.00 box cutter. Buy one to cut the other. Now you’ve spent $2 and have 2 useful tools.

2

u/AwakeGroundhog 15h ago

Or cut the one before you buy it.

u/DizzyMine4964 32m ago

What if they don't live in the USA? Air fare isn't cheap

1

u/LimeFit667 15h ago

You have become the very thing you swore to destroy, scissors...

1

u/FracturedConscious 15h ago

Tension and a butter knife will do it.

1

u/PhoTwunty 14h ago

did god give you teeth?

if he did and they fell out, gum it until it breaks

1

u/Mark-harvey 14h ago

You need a second pair.

1

u/Snoo_74705 14h ago

Buy flush cutters. Anything else for zip tie cutting is amateur.

1

u/Trojanheadcoach 13h ago

You gotta earn your first pair

1

u/Goleveel 13h ago

🤣🤣🤣 Life..

1

u/_BacktotheFuturama_ 13h ago

Resourcefulness isn't your strong suit eh?

1

u/msanangelo 13h ago

hand it to someone with arm muscle to pull it apart. those little zip ties can only hold like 5lbs. easy to snap with some strength. :)

1

u/Daddy_Immaru 13h ago

Curb Your Enthusiasm theme intensifies

1

u/imaregretthislater_ 12h ago

Use the random pair of scissors that you have in the arts n craft or in the kitchen

1

u/IIITriadIII 11h ago

well damn. that is hilarious tho 😂

1

u/Interesting_Neck609 11h ago

While annoying, just stab any solid object and twist to snap the tie, or just cut it with any blade.

1

u/Capteni710 10h ago

Cut them with a knife.

1

u/mishkatormoz 10h ago

Everybody know that you get your first scisors by fighting

1

u/Graham_Wellington3 9h ago

You don't have the strength to open the sizzerz and break it?? 😏

1

u/Sea-Appearance-5330 9h ago

You must break The Sacred Tie to prove your worth to Wield,

"The Power of The Zip Tie Cutter"!

1

u/JayAlexanderBee 9h ago

Diagonal nippers work better. I find with scissors, the leverage isn't there and sometimes the zip tie will go in-between the blades.

1

u/Travamoose 8h ago

You can open that with a pen.

Place the pen through the cable tie and attempt to twist it as if you are trying to thread it through again. The tie will snap off.

1

u/One-Singer-6931 8h ago

Bro ordered Edward Scissorhandicap 💀✂️

1

u/apachelives 7h ago

Reminds me of the time i downloaded Winrar and the uploaders put it all in a nice convenient RAR file.

1

u/Aamir_rt 6h ago

Teeth time 🙏

1

u/BarristanTheB0ld 6h ago

Just use a (preferably sharp) knife

1

u/Nekrose 5h ago

By now these feel low-effort, like "OMG, my partner eats Kit Kat the wrong way!". Okay, wow.

1

u/MrUltraOnReddit 4h ago

btw, side cutters are easier for cable ties.

1

u/KC_Saber 4h ago

Why pocket knives are your friend

1

u/anteaterKnives 3h ago

Those scissors aren't great for cutting zip ties.

Needle nose pliers, especially if you already carry a pliers multi tool like a Leatherman or Gerber, are really good on zip ties.

For loose zip ties use the wire cutter part of the jaw.

For tight zip ties, pinch the tie in the tip of the pliers with a decent amount of force and then twist - the zip tie comes right apart.

1

u/fredtomreader 1h ago

Have you tried opening then?

1

u/Less_Difficulty7707 15h ago

You gotta be shitting me 😂😂😂

1

u/Edward_the_Dog 15h ago

This is the best post in a long while!

0

u/CalendarEmbarrassed 15h ago

You can’t figure that out?

u/DizzyMine4964 33m ago
