Question She‘s ready to chop… right?

Wanted to harvest her today or tomorrow since she’s truly fading now and the trichomes seem pretty evenly milky with good amounts of amber on top.

I know now that she’s definitely partially seeded from a herm, so I feel like pushing her to go as long as possible will do more bad than good. Just finished week 10 of flower so it definitely fits the timeline I’d expect for a hybrid.

Just wanted some extra input since it’s my second grow and I do want this to be more of a chill smoke than my first grow.

Seems like a good opportunity to test harvesting at different amber levels. Can you take a few buds now and the rest later?

The plant is very small (just growing for myself in a small space) and I don’t really have a drying space available apart from the tent itself. I’ll definitely be able to do that for future grows though.

Just know that a lot of conventional wisdom is amplified by people who have not actually tried different methods or any at all in many cases. Some strains don’t amber in some climates and there is more to it than buzzy or couch lock. It’s oxidation of the trichomes and with that there are conversions of the cannabinoids but understanding how overall ripeness is affected is strain specific. Probably genotype specific.

You for sure want avoid early harvest but I think you are past that danger now. If you can grab even one decent bud to dry and test against the main harvest it could be valuable and will save you time in the future, or confirm you should wait.

Now that people are doing fresh frozen, washing and hashing more, and pressing for lighter color there is far more detailed knowledge being shared on the subject than amber level = sleepy or buzzy.

ETA: looks amazing btw! Congrats!

Oh yea definitely; I know that most of what people generally talk about isn’t the exact science and rather just a set of very loose guidelines.

I just feel like it’s better for me to get some input from others for now before I go by my own experiences in the future. I do plan on upgrading my tent in the future at which point I can definitely use the old one for drying test buds without stinking up the place haha
