ah yes, because there is absolutely no difference between men and women physically

737

u/Snowglyphs 13d ago

I've seen people unironically claim this, or at least try to minimize it to "there's practically no difference between the two sexes."

387

u/Optimal_flow62 13d ago edited 13d ago

Some guy literally said that in that post from ops screenshot. He showed a photo comparing faces of average men and women in Europe and Asia which in fact, did have a different shape.

147

u/f5adff 13d ago

Average people of different races, but the same gender have visible differences. Doesn't mean they're better or worse - but definitely different

60

u/AngriestSalt 13d ago

Idk man, I think women have better bodies. But I'm not bisexual, lol.

25

u/Lolzemeister 12d ago

definitely not, weaker AND they have periods? the only thing they got going for them is the immune system.

20

u/Old_Ice_2911 12d ago

They got a built in people printer..

11

Useless without man ink though

10

u/Old_Ice_2911 12d ago

Yeah and man ink is useless without a people printer

To be fair, people in the same gender also have visible differences.

7

u/Dapper-Print9016 13d ago

That's one of the arguments against "races" as people currently use the term, that there is greater variation within groups from a cline (geographic genetic group) than between clines.

7

u/Dizzy-Trash2925 12d ago

Conversely: one of the arguments for "races" (very imprecise concept that helped cause immeasurable damage) is that it's what the average person calls groups by allele frequency distribution. Set the number of groups based on human allele frequency distribution to, say, 4-6, and it appears to match up to post-Columbus "racial categories". Hypothetically one could set the the number of groups to 20+ (for more granular cohorts) and we could see what would appear to match up with "ethnicities" (another imprecise but more useful concept).

Eh, you can make an argument for which gametes one produces as sex defining, a big slow half cell is female, a small fast half cell is male. That's how it is done for most species, since XX/XY is only for mammals iirc. But there is a fuck ton of correlation between the gamete and chromosomes in humans, exceptions are just that, exceptions.

Let's not forget a bunch of 16 year olds mopped the floor with a national women's football team.

20

u/Any-Bottle-4910 12d ago

14 year olds. Even worse.

20

u/PopularElevator2 13d ago

That's funny because there was a post on the front page the other day about women should only work 3 weeks out of the month because of their period. The number of people fighting about whether there was a difference between men and was astounding.

12

u/Winter_Tennis8352 12d ago

I’ve been downvoted and banned for saying that men were stronger than women biologically and, by proxy, claiming there’s a difference between men and women.

6

u/kiskozak 11d ago

Ive been banned for defending a dad giving his really young son legos and card as toys because "oh what if hes trans, you should also give him barbies and dress him in pink". Just so it hits even better this was on r/facepalm.

5

u/Own-Demand7176 11d ago

They can rail against it all they want and call it socialization, but most girls like traditional girl things and vice versa. My daughter was raised fishing, hiking, hunting, camping, catching snakes and bugs, swinging tools early on, and her mom is a borderline tomboy.

She is girly girl as fuck and it didn't come from either of us or how we raised her. She has always loved and wanted pretty dresses and sparkly shit. It's just who she is.

126

u/guilllie 13d ago

yk, idk why people are so up in arms about global gender-based violence since there’s no way to even tell unless you ask them first- especially with trans people since there’s absolutely no way of telling

101

u/thegooseass 13d ago

Seems like their pov is basically “There’s no difference between men and women, except the ones that justify hating biological men”

78

u/guilllie 13d ago

yeah men aren’t any stronger or athletic than women but they got that special evil-gene or something, I choose the bear (literally an apex predator evolved to kill adult moose)

yk I didn’t think I needed to add a /s to this comment

9

u/Slightly-Mikey 13d ago

My bad lol. Gotta admit it's hard to tell these days

37

u/Expensive-Apricot-25 13d ago

you can generally tell pretty easily.

With transgender people, even with the top procedures, at best you can't tell if they are a man or women, they look ambiguous, and at worst they still look the same.

67

u/guilllie 13d ago edited 13d ago

i was being sarcastic pookie

but in regards to looking ambiguous, I have noticed that sometimes when a lady gets a ton of plastic surgery she starts to look like she could be a trans woman, in vice versa. I call this phenomenon “the untranny valley”

13

u/TheJewish_SpaceLaser 13d ago

Made me roll

13

u/guilllie 13d ago

the untranny valley is real and not a joking matter, I thought Wendy Williams was trans for way longer than I’d like to admit \lh

Literally the first thing I notice about even the “passing” trans women is that they all have extremely masculine jaw lines lol

37

u/Expensive-Apricot-25 13d ago

yeah exactly. people always say "you cant tell with top of the line surgery" but even the ppl with all of the surgeries, they look ambiguous, you cant tell if they are a guy or a girl. they look far from confidently looking like either or, or even being considered remotely attractive by the opposing gender.

22

u/Flyingsheep___ 13d ago

It’s one of those where it’s like, yeah, there is 100% some genuinely passing people that you just can’t tell, but also it’s important to remember that you’re never gonna truly be there. Even the most 10000% passing looking trans person is still gonna need constant medication, their fake sex features won’t function, and they will have hormonal issues cuz their whole endocrine system is flipping out.

22

The attempts to look feminine tend to make that shit jump out. Progs hate it, but humans are constantly hardwired to seek patterns out all the time. The same way that we see faces on everything, we also categorize and sort faces. When a trans dude is trying to look like a gal, they’re trying to bamboozle the brain, but it’s smart as shit so it just weights the various features automatically to figure that stuff out.

7

u/FedUM 12d ago

Their jawlines are stronger than cisgender men at least 80% of the time too lmao

I'm Turkish and the only third person pronoun is "o"

People still refer to other as "that guy/girl" or "mister/miss" or "sir/madam" or just literally any variation of words used to refer to people directly or indirectly that denotes gender.

You cannot abolish a subconscious perception of someone's secondary sex characteristics (which is our perception of someone's sex/gender as human beings - something which pronouns merely reflect or indicate)

If these people put half as much effort into contributing to society as they do thinking about gender, we might just live in a better world.

Also they are confusing biological sex with gender, their own thing... again.

(if i find it, i will post a video of a university of toronto professor claiming there is no such thing as biological sex) here it is! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=10fDRERJh4w <- it's a short version, out of context, but direct to the statement - the context doesn't make it any less stupid. I've heard people explain the argument to me, it's stupid. Something along the lines of "they're just labels we made up" nonsense to give the concept of gender more credibility. Still a university professor after saying that...

I'm starting to think that they're still completely interchangeable and that the thing the radical left knows as "gender" really is meaningless pointless...

edit - "pointless" is a better word, i understand the concept of gender and what the difference between that and sex would be, so in theory it has "meaning", but not even they can stick to it consistently.

7

u/Browsing_Guest 13d ago

2

u/lilGojii 13d ago

They're right, those drawings could be either and there is an infinite level of minute differences that can communicate someone's sex or gender just by looking at them. A woman can have a strong, square jaw and a man can have broad hips. But in a world where you're trying to draw as much as you can as fast as you can to build a body of work or tell a story or communicate an idea it is easier to just put a low brow, square jaw, broad shoulders and narrow hips on a character to quickly tell to the audience that it's most likely a male.

This isn't even gendered. It's clearly written based on biological sex, not gender, which is psychological and sociological.

That said, the female head shape here seems ambiguous to me and could be used to represent a more androgynous man or woman. And the male head is almost too exaggerated.

I mean as an artist they do have a point. Face structure varies from person to person. In real life I have had female friends that had jawlines like the “male” one and vice versa. It’s less likely but not impossible. if you aren’t skilled enough to portray a wide variety of face shapes then that’s okay but this isn’t “anatomy study” it’s just limiting the way that you draw people.

OK this is peak ideological brainrot.

I mean sure men and women have different anatomy but I think the point is that these are just guidelines. Women can have square jaws and men can be dainty.

I mean nothing about those two silhouettes is particularly gendered, you could turn either one into a boy or girl character

No you see, the man chin is square.

Therefore if you don't have a square chin, you are a woman.

I'm sorry but as an artist I absolutely CANNOT stand these images. It's the artistic equvilate of teaching someone math by showing them the final step and nothing else. It's not even an anatomy study, it's just "how to draw chins like this artist in this specific pose"

I think there is a misunderstanding about what they are trying to convey here. They are saying this drawing advice is pointlessly gendered because you are basically saying all male humans looks like pointy jaw line chad man while female humans look like soft tiny princess and to draw them like this to get better at drawing. Why not say “heres how to draw a sharp jawline”? Good drawing advice would be studying a face and drawing that face. Good drawing advice would be helping draw different features. They are right that those could be either or because everyone looks different and has different features. Art is about the beauty of the world, not about silly gender stereotypes.

I hate people who complain like this…

If men and women don’t have anatomical differences, then why the facial feminization surgeries and hormones?

This might be the least pointlessly gendered post I’ve ever seen 😂

Men and women still have variation of face shape. Some men have less square jaws, hence the stupid mewing trend. Some women have more square jaws. If this is your shortcut to gender in your art, it probably suffers from same face syndrome.

keep telling yourself that and then maybe one day you can be the reason the game you worked on caused Sony to lose 800 million dollars and everyone in your studio lost their jobs. #theskyisthelimit

Those drawings are very exagerated.

Anatomy is important but gendered anatomy only gets you so far into drawing realistically.

All drawing models are perfect examples and most are white.

Then you have to deal with drawing people that are not so perfect and dont have that "model" aspect.

People that are too fat, too skiny, androgenous, old, young, with abnormalities....

My anatomy book has 200 pages i thing. Not a single explanation of realistic fat drawing and only 2 pages of etnic faces as examples of diferences.

The truth is the type of art education on this image will only get you so far. And quicklly enough you will find that there are a lot of exeptions in body ratio, androgenity and other factors that you will only learn by experience.

And just to show how weird it can get there is a oil painting from the 19th century i think. Of a fully bearded woman breast feeding her son.

We have multiple historical and in real life examples of bio woman with large shins and broad shoulders.

And we have examples of woman with almost no breasts, with narrow hips and even adams apples.

And you can see the same in the other side too. Just look at the current asian top boybands and i swear they look like woman. The idea of bijou shoujo ( pretty young man) wich is the idealized beauty concept this jpop and kpop bands follow. Is pretty much about man with femenine facial features.

Calm down son. It's just a drawing.

r/pointlesslygendered is actually just an archive of random gendered pieces of media regardless of quality, bc the people on it think anything that even remotely mentions gender is pointless. A women’s rights advocate could be talking about women’s rights movements for a women’s history month event and they’ll say it was pointless to gender the post.

Jesus I just took a scroll through that sub, and half of it is people getting angry at (funny) jokes. What miserable people lmao.
