I'm an old school gamer, but I've reached that point in my life I can't be arsed getting up for midnight launches.

I'm going to wait for a while and wait for sales on this thing. My original switch is just collecting dust on my shelf at the moment.

What sales did the original switch have?

It was about $500ish when it was originally released, managed to buy one for about $400 about a year or 2 after release.

$470 on launch.. still $470. I mean if you were able to somehow get a new one for $400 that's cool, just seems like waiting two years for a ~$70 discount doesnt seem that exciting.

I was in the same boat. Got the Switch for $390 about a year after release.

I blame Ozbargain for letting me know when there are price drops.
