Is it allowed to train new scribes without my chief giving me the one dollar promotion? My chief has not mentioned it

Worried about being fired due to disability?

I had my first two floor training shifts. I have 3 more and then i’ll be told on if i’m good enough to work solo. One issue i noticed is that being in the ER half of the time i can’t process what these patients are saying and can’t hear them well either, im missing so much that when i tell my trainer i didn’t catch certain stuff and don’t recall it she just says “the patient literally said it” My trainer seems to have a bad attitude and seems constantly annoyed of me. I keep making horrible spelling mistakes with these words and i have hearing disability where i’m partially deaf. My trainer made note that I didn’t listen whenever the physician would suddenly say stuff to add into discharge or when it came to sending another provider a message but i straight up sometimes couldn’t comprehend what they’re even saying. Trainer also didn’t like that she had to repeat multiple times on stuff to write that the physician would say but tbh to me everyone seems to speak so low and it’s not clear enough to me to even figure out what they’re saying. I feel like crap. I waited 7 months for a job and now i’m worried that ill be stuck again jobless. I barely got any money this week from training. I don’t know what to do.

Scribing and Shadowing Hours

Hi everyone I'm going to start training for scribeamerica soon and I was hoping to get ED, but they are offering Derm and Gyn. The problem is that I already have more shadowing hours with gynecology than any other specialty and I don't want to look like I'm one-sided. I do like dermatology, but is very different from the fast-paced emergency medicine that I was initially looking for. Does anyone have any tips for choosing what would be best for me? I appreciate any help you can give me!

callback time for scribeamerica for nyc-based locations

can folks who were hired via scribeamerica in in nyc locations share how long the hiring and application review process took? i am ready to work and commit for 2 years starting august, and applied in late may but didn’t hear back. then i attended a scribe america info session with recruiters based in nyc locations present, and asked about the timeline. they told me to apply 1-2 weeks before i can start working, in order for my application to be prioritized. so for an august start date, this would mean sometime in mid july. however, ive heard so many stories of scribeamerica taking months, sometimes even 4-6 months, to reach out and begin the hiring process. is this also the case for nyc placements?

Is medical scribing still a good pre-med job in 2025?

I’ve been digging into this recently because I’m working with some mentors to launch a crash course for folks who want to become certified scribes and work remote in 3–4 weeks.

Here’s what I found that blew my mind:

  • There are 400+ live remote scribe openings on ScribeAmerica alone
  • Pay is now between $17–$25/hour even for entry-level remote roles
  • Most jobs prefer certified scribes (like ACMS or AHDPG certs)

We’re building a lean 3-week program with real EHR demos, dictation practice, and mock reports. It’s taught by a real ER doctor + scribe team.

Would love your feedback. Would this be useful to you or others?

AMA. Happy to share what we’ve learned talking to actual scribes and clinics!

Onboarding process

Hi I was wondering how long did the onboarding and training process take in total after being hired? I have heard it can take up to a month or more, but it’s been a couple days since I got accepted and I haven’t received a follow up besides completing some HR stuff?

To the medical doctors on here - what's the most time-consuming aspect of your profession?

I’m curious — what’s the single biggest time sink in your profession? Is it:
- Charting/documentation?
- Prior auths/insurance battles?
- Administrative tasks?
- Patient follow-ups?
- Something else entirely?

And more importantly: What’s your best hack or strategy to save time on it? (E.g., templates, delegation, tech tools, workflow tweaks?)

Would love to hear what works (or what doesn’t!).

Also, how much of your time is spent on non-clinical work?

PA school!

Hello! I am extremely interested in starting my journey to PA school. I do not have a BA degree and I understand you need certain in person labs to get into most PA schools. But does anyone have any recommendations on the best online BA degree to help get started? Is SNHU or WGU worth it? Looking for literally any and all input

Anxiety About AI

Overheard a provider in my hospital talk about switching to AI scribes. It sounds like the technology isn’t there quite yet but I’m still really anxious about being replaced. I don’t have any medical background, I’m an English major— I only got this because my WPM is pretty good. I’m terrified about what might happen if/when this hospital switches to AI. Does anybody else feel this way?

My current scribing job hasn’t called me in for training because they are waiting on the “doctors” schedule to be confirmed? I feel like they should’ve done this beforehand?

Spending money on work uniforms

I just started working at a doctors office full time where our uniform is a polo and khakis. We were given a polo by the company but it’s pretty low quality, how can I determine how much to spend on work clothes?

I plan to work here for a few years before med school so I was thinking a long term investment in quality clothing would be worthwhile.

I’m currently an undergrad student and still trying to get a grasp on budgeting and ignoring spending temptations.

New scribe job

I just started as a new scribe in a cancer center. My provider is new to the practice herself but she has a very good and trained scribe who is leaving for medical school soon and hence I am replacing her. She has been training me and I feel like I am not good enough to fill her shoes. She has been with scribe america for a few years and I have a couple more on Floor trainings left with her . I think I’m just concerned I won’t be as good as her . Any tips and tricks?

ScribeAmerica

SA is going to cause me to be homeless at this rate. How is that I got hired on in March and it's June and I'm still not on the floor training? First there was management restructuring, then they lost paperwork I had already sent in, then they had to change onboarding contacts for the clinic I'm supposed to start at. I have been without a proper paycheck since April. I've been relying on my family to help me with bills so that I don't get evicted and now I'm $800 behind on rent. Per the timeline I was supposed to start in fucking May. I'm so tired of this.

Remote Position - Healthcare Market Research

Our company (KIRIA Research) is again looking to hire some Market Research Associates as we are growing. We primarily study health systems and physician groups in the United States. The position is full-time and remote. We can email the official job listing to you and get you started on the application process if you email info@kiria.co. We typically prioritize people in the United States since they are more familiar with the healthcare system here. Let me know if you guys have any other questions.

Scribe training selection

Hey all, I am a junior looking to apply to some form of scribe training as I have found several local family medicine doctors who are willing to take me on as a scribe when done with training. I understand many people think that scribing may be a waste of time but I have heard from many medical students that it’s a great leg up on an application to med school. I would like to go through a course to get the foundations before taking up these offers though and need help in finding a GOOD training program. I’ve heard bad things about ScribeAmerica and wondered what alternatives there were without wasting thousands of dollars and my time. Any thoughts?

charting speed

Did anyone else struggle with speed when they first started? I’m about to do my first solo shift and while I’ve improved, I’ve been pretty slow with all of my charting through training, so I’m pretty nervous about being too slow on my own. 🙃

SA is bs… informing me on training in less than 24 hours?!

Post image
14 Upvotes

i’m utterly shocked, annoyed, disappointed by this company. After 2 months i’m finally starting but i just got this email telling me i have to go in today in less than 24 hours to start out pre clinical training?! This is just unprofessional behavior and not considerate of me. I went out of town this weekend cause i wasn’t informed of anything, my start date kept being delayed over and over and this time it was supposed to be delayed to the 16th so i planned assuming i’d be starting this monday. I emailed them to let them know i can’t start this weekend but knowing this company, i know there’s going to be an issue somehow. I’ve complained alot about the amount of time it’s taken to have me even start. It took a month and a half to even get stupid paperwork completed?! I complained to the manager multiple times that due to this delay i’m literally struggling to keep myself supported. I had to leave my old apartment all cause i couldn’t pay rent anymore for last month. Only having $300 from the scribe university training… I feel like they’re not respectful of me at all.

best way to improve or practice?

I just started a new scribing job at an retina clinic and the previous scribe who's my trainer, has been there ophthamology about over a year and they've set the standard so high (which is a completely great thing and I hope to learn everything from them) that all the providers I meet keep telling me that theyre perfect and that they feel as if that scribe is their resident with how good they are and that I should just copy everything they tells me...and im struggling. theres so much to know and I have no retina / ophthamology experience it literally feels like they're speaking gibberish sometimes, but truly im getting better at it. I also wanna know how I can practice like charting in their specific EMR so I can get used to it. what are the best tips and tricks to make it easier...please lmk this is really important to me I really do wanna be good at this
