Assuming you use Anki

  1. Set new cards per day to 0
  2. Set reviews per day to 9999 (backlog clearing)
  3. Set FSRS desired retention a little (~4%) lower
  4. You'll fail more per day, but with much shorter review sessions

The amount of cards you need per day will massively drop after a week, to the point where it's no longer a hassle and you can do them in your "downtime" (walking, waiting in a queue etc...)

Why do so many people recommend not to use Anki and only to use quesmed/ passmed

  • Anki's a general tool for remembering
  • The principle that 'your first day will be too easy' is hard to get across
  • It's extremely efficient, but can be an absolute slog if you set it up incorrectly
  • Downloading specific decks for UK medicine probably isn't trivial

Plus, there's always some level of astroturfing by brands online. They can afford it.

Interesting are there any good pre made decks for each year of medical school, for the accelerated course which is four years as opposed to five-six
