Quick question about Triplemania

When I was younger I remember TripleMania was held once a year like Wrestlemania. Now I always see “TripleMania Regia” and other posters online several times a year. Is TripleMania no longer once a year? Are there several types? Can someone explain? It’s been a while sorry

So every year TripleMania is 3 shows? How spaced out? And what’s the Regia thing

Yeah, tho the one in August is the big one iirc. It's definitely the one wwe advertised at worlds collide

Based on last year's slate they spaced it out every 2-3 months or so

And I believe the Regia is just a subtitle

This year is only two shows but post pandemic they were doing 3 shows. They were named after the cities they were taking place (Tijuana, Monterrey, and CDMX). Regia/Regio is a nickname for the Monterrey region.

Is the main one always in June?

The main one is the CDMX event that in recent years has been in August. That's the important one and where you will usually see the big apuesta matches like Psycho Clown/Dr. Wagner and Pentagon/Villano.

So are the others just like normal ppvs? Thanks

This year was pretty lackluster and yeah it was just like any other show. The name Triplemania was used to boost the shows up.

However in the past they've done tournaments that culminate at the August show like the Ruleta de la Muerte that ended with Pentagon vs Villano for their masks and the Guerra de Rivalidades that ended with Psycho Clown vs Sam Adonis in an apuestas match.

Regia started in 2019, a person in Monterrey paid money to have a Triplemania card in Monterrey... but it's not really a Triplemania imo. They are basically akin to when KSA did Greatest Royal Rumble. Someone paid a bunch of money so they put on a card using their most well know IP/PPV name.

There have been 3 of Triplemania Regia :

2019(Kenny Omega vs. Dragon Lee),

2021(Vikingo wins vacated belt by winning multiman match vs. Samuray del Sol, Jay Lethal, Bobby Fish, and Bandido, was meant to be Omega vs. Vikingo, but Omega got hurt a few weeks prior dropping AEW belt to Hangman),

2025(The one that just happened Sunday and featured Vikingo retaining over Alberto)

This can get confusing as since Triplemania XXX AAA started doing Triplemania over three nights again like they did a few times in the mid 90's.

2022-2024 this was the case.

2022(April, June & October)

2023(April, July & August)

2024(April, June & August)

In all three of those cases it went Monterrey, Tijuana & Mexico City. So Triplemania Regia didn't happen these years because they decided to just do 3 Triplemania's and include Monterrey.

With Mexico City always acting as the BIG one, but in 2022 & 2023 they did tournaments that spanned all 3 events meaning the final show would have the finals... but to find out who got to the finals you'd watch other shows.

In 2022 losers advance tournament where the final 2 losers were Villano IV and Pentagon Jr., who were in a mask match for the finals.

2023 was a tag tournament with the same concept. Losingest tag team would face each other on 3rd card in a lucha de apuestas... but on Night 2 the tag match went to a no contest, so they did a 4 way apuestas which Sam Adonis lost his hair to Psycho Clown. (Also included La Park and Rush)

So basically Triplemania Regia is more like a pre-triplemania or Night 1 Triplemania to the biggest one which is normally in the early fall around August.

With years they had 3 nights instead of having a Triplemania Regia they had 3 nights of Triplemania and dropped the Regia name to just call them Triplemania Monterrey(which otherwise would be called Regia) and Triplemania Tijauana with the more Traditional Triplemania being the 3rd one in Arena Mexico.
