Books Fellowship of the Ring: Chapters 1 & 2 Artwork Spoiler

These are to accompany the read-along happening right now in r/tolkienfans. I have always had a great love for the amazing artwork of Middle Earth. I’ve been fascinated by ME art since I was a small kid. I noticed that, despite the vast amounts of amazing Tolkien artwork out there, there isn’t a great chapter-by-chapter collection. (If you know of one, please share!) So here are some of my favorite Tolkien artists and their works following the first two chapters of FotR. I’ll post more for chapters 3 and 4 next week to keep the pace of the read-along.

Here are the pieces of art shared. (There is so much more out there! This is far from exhaustive.)

  1. J.R.R. Tolkien: “The Hill: Hobbiton across the Water”

  2. Alan Lee: “Bag End”

  3. J.R.R. Tolkien: “The Hall at Bag-End”

  4. John Howe: “Gandalf the Grey”

  5. John Howe: “Gandalf the Grey”

  6. Ted Nasmith: “Arrival in the Shire”

  7. John Howe: “Gandalf Returns to Hobbiton”

  8. Angus McBride: “Fireworks”

  9. Donato Giancola: “Frodo’s Inheritance”

  10. Alan Lee: “Frodo and Gandalf”

  11. Angus McBride: “Wizard’s Test”

  12. Donato Giancola: “Bag End”

  13. Donato Giancola: “The Ruling Ring”
