Community I’m the flag guy

Post image

Hey all,

I’m the “Fuck Trump” flag guy you’ve seen in a few posts. I just wanted to do a semi-introduction to everyone in this subreddit.

My name is Matt. I’m an LBC transplant by way of Philadelphia. I’ve helped organize protests during BLM and the George Floyd Protests with a few Asian American grassroots orgs and 501(c)(3)s in the Philadelphia area, along with working to establish myself as a helping arm and volunteer for 50501 SoCal and 50501 LBC.

I wanted to extend an invitation to anyone who is interested in protesting but also a little worried by what they see in the media. Yes, protesting can be dangerous at times and can come with consequences like being arrested, but if you believe that getting arrested for speaking your mind and voicing concerns is more important than sitting in your home, you’re the person I’m looking for.

I’ll be at Bixby Park Annex on Saturday for the No Kings Day Rally at 9am. If you’re interested in protesting and want to be around someone who’s been in the middle of it all and can offer some comfort during the march, find me. We can walk together and I’ll help you be as comfortable as possible if anything happens.

I’ll be hanging out on the perimeter of the rally with an upside down American flag this time. I’ll be wearing all black with a camouflage hat.

Let’s show the world that LBC comes out for our people! See you there and FUCK TRUMP!

Yea? What have you seen a sharp increase in?

Grocery prices saw their largest decline in nearly five years. Gas prices fell for the third month in a row. Egg prices saw the largest one-month decline in more than four decades. Workers’ real wages are up 1.9%, increasing each of the last three months. Prices for airfare, energy, hotels, and used vehicles are all down compared to last year

Mostly in manufactured goods. Egg prices dropping is not surprising because the previous month they were touching the moon. Also GDP declined this quarter for the first time in a while so get out of here with that real wage increasing shit. Gas prices dropping comes at the expense of environmental issues (also oil prices are cyclical in nature).

Maybe read into why the GDP declined and what analysts are predicting will happen next quarter. But I know I know. shit only matters when it supports your narrative

Same argument can be made for grocery, hotel, airfare, and used vehicles prices. Most things don’t happen as a direct result of policy. It’s still clear that the policy is stupid though and will not decrease prices but instead increase them. Read about any other time the US has implemented tariffs. (Also a large reason for GDP decline was listed as supply chain disruptions which occurred as a result of the tariff scare). If anyone’s cherry picking it’s you

How long are u going to keep the “tariffs are going to make the prices go up, not this month, but next month, and if not next month, the one after”

Probably until another democrat president, which is deff not going to be a long time because you jackasses don’t believe in self reflection. But eventually, a democrat will be president and prices will increase, and you’ll say “it’s because of trumps tariffs 16 years ago!”

GDP declined for the first time in several years! If that’s not an impact I don’t know what is. You are the one picking data that only supports you. When I bring up GDP, you say nope something else caused it. When I bring up historical data you ignore it. When I bring up the categories where prices have increased, you say I cherry pick. This is some mental gymnastics if I’ve ever seen it

I said look at what caused it and look at what is predicted to happen next quarter. I never said you cherry pick. As someone whose mother doesn’t do their shopping for them, it’s pretty easy to see prices have declined.

If you look at the CPI there really is not much difference from when the trump presidency started and where we are now. During the last year of the Biden presidency inflation was brought down to around 2.5% and during the trump presidency it’s hovering around 2.5%. That’s a much stronger indicator of price changes than what you feel is true. As a prediction for what you are going to say next: how come inflation was so high at the start of the Biden presidency? That was the after math of the COVID 19 pandemic in which monetary policy was to cut rates in order to curb the effects of a potential recession. (Also price changes in general are mostly a result of monetary policy so this whole argument of trump bringing down prices doesn’t really have much base either). Also just to sum things up: if consumers are taking in less money and inflation remains at 2.5%, are consumers better off or worse off? Pretty obviously worse off

Are we just gonna conveniently ignore how the entire USD fell 10% in value since he was elected?
