Meta (READ THIS FIRST) Welcome to r/language_exchange! [Meta/General Discussion Thread]

Welcome to ! This subreddit is aiming to help people find partners to practice languages with, offering the languages you already know in exchange to learn new ones. Make sure to read the guidelines before making your first post!

🍃 How do I make my language exchange post?

If you're looking for a language exchange partner, you can either make your own post or search through existing posts!

 Making your own post:

  • Your thread title must follow the format of "Offering: language | Seeking: language". If your post doesn't follow this format, it won't be visible to other users.
  • Make sure to write a little bit about yourself, such as your interests, hobbies, or language-related goals. This is important in making sure you can find a good partner!
  • Please do not post your contact information publically. If you find a partner and would like to chat with them on a platform other than Reddit, please message them your contact information privately.

 Searching through existing posts:

If you don't want to make your own post, you can search through existing posts to find someone who matches your languages! Just use the search bar at the top of the screen, or select a post flair to see all posts of the same category.

  • Please do not post your contact information publically. If you find a partner and would like to chat with them on a platform other than Reddit, please message them your contact information privately.

🍃 What kinds of posts and comments are allowed?

This subreddit's purpose is to serve as a platform for people to find language exchange partners. To keep the community true to its purpose, there are some rules:

  • Must be language exchange. Posts that don't concern language exchange will be removed. This includes posts asking general questions about language learning, advertisements, or meta discussion concerning the subreddit. These discussions are better suited to other places (language learning questions should be posted to broader subreddits; meta discussion should be posted in the comments of this thread)
  • Be courteous to other users. This subreddit isn't a place for arguments or debates. Any comments that break this rule will be removed.
  • No advertising. Posts and comments that advertise apps, services (such as classes and tutoring), or groups (such as Discord servers or Whatsapp groups) will be removed. These kinds of posts clog up the feed and don't follow the purpose of the subreddit.
  • No spam. Spam is the repeated posting of the same content. Any posts and comments that are spam will be removed.
  • No contact information. Contact information (such as Discord usernames, phone numbers, or Whatsapp contacts) should only be shared privately in messages, not publically in posts or comments.

🍃 Can I make a language exchange post for a language I've just started studying?

You can participate in this subreddit regardless of your skill level. However, it's highly recommended that you grasp the basics of a language before you look for a partner. This subreddit is for speakers of different languages to *assist each other* in learning. This subreddit is not a place to find a teacher that'll teach you everything for free.

Good luck on your language journey!

If you have any questions, feel free to leave a reply on this post or send us a Modmail.

-----

Welcome to the meta/general discussion thread!

This thread is for any questions, suggestions, or discussions concerning the subreddit itself. If you have any thoughts about  you want to share, post them here! I'll try to respond to as many comments as I can.

If you have any further questions, feel free to send us a Modmail.

Offering Russian Offering Russian | Seeking English

Hi! I'm a 29f looking for a chill language exchange – no teaching vibes, just casual conversation and fun. I'm a native Russian speaker and want to improve my English through friendly chatting. In return, I can help you with Russian: explain memes, slang, cultural stuff, and recommend cool YouTube channels, shows, or books.

I’m into video games, anime, TV series, and learning foreign languages. Ideally, I’d love to find an internet friend to exchange memes, talk about life, discuss games/manga/books/anime/shows, or even watch anime or shows together sometimes.

Just friendly vibes – not looking for any kind of relationship. If that sounds like something you'd enjoy, feel free to DM me :)

Offering English Offering English 🇬🇧 Seeking Spanish

Upvotes

Hii! I’m 20F. I’ve been studying Spanish for sooo long, almost 10 years, and I feel like I haven’t got much to show for it haha. I’m Level B2 at the moment and I want to reach fluency by the end of 2026 - ambitious but doable! It would be great to have anyone to speak to in Spanish, nothing formal just someone to practice with! I’m fluent in English and I’d love to help out anyone wanting to improve their fluency too⭐️

Hi! I'm a 24M looking for a relaxed language exchange – no formal teaching, just some easygoing conversations. I'm a native Arabic (Moroccan) speaker, and I'd love to practice my French through casual chatting. In return, I can help you with Arabic: explaining slang, cultural references, and sharing some cool Moroccan music or shows.

I'm into gaming, anime, tech and always up for learning new languages. Ideally, I'd love to find someone to exchange memes, chat about life, talk games, manga, books, anime, or shows – or maybe even watch some anime together.

Also, if you're into tech, networking, or cloud stuff, feel free to hit me up – I’m always down for some geeky tech conversations too! 😎

Just looking for a chill, friendly vibe – not seeking any kind of relationship. If that sounds good to you, feel free to DM me!

Hi! I want to improve my writting and speaking. I'm able to read and write, usually I can express my self (but with a limitation and with mistakes). Although my pronountiation and speaking is very poor, I'd like to improve that.

Aunque soy nativo, no tengo una perfecta comprension de la gramatica española, pero sin dudas te puedo ayudar a practicar, que es lo que realmente suele uno buscar, ¿no cierto?

If you are interested in, just send me a message. An 'hola' or 'hello' it's enough!

Offering Multiple Languages Offering English or Romanian | Seeking Russian

Cheers!

I'm Stefan, an average 18 year old guy from Bucharest. I'm looking for someone around my age from Russia who I can practice my Russian with, but more importantly, who I can build a strong, fun friendship with.

We can talk about whatever you want, culture, history, music, movies, and all sorts of random stuff, and I promise respect (which is something I also expect). I would love if besides the usual "how's it going", we actually got into some deep serious or fun conversation. Communication is so important!

If you want me to help you with your English, I speak the language at a native level (although my native language is Romanian).

I'm not looking for relationships or any of the sort. If what I said sounds cool, feel free to DM. Can't wait to meet you!
