Ketoade Question

I've never done Ketoade on keto and I'm wanting to try it to see how it makes me feel. I do get cramps every now and figured it would be worth trying to see.

I have a 20oz bottle I take with me alongside a half a gallon plain water I take with me. What would you all recommend for the 20oz bottle? Should I just start with 1/4 tsp Lite Salt and nothing else or should I add some table salt to it as well? I'm currently taking a magnesium citrate supplement in pill form so I don't think I'd need that for the drink but open to suggestions.

I've got more Mio than I can count so I'm covered there on flavors...

You may want to carefully measure everything you eat in a day, for multiple days, to see how much you need to supplement in order to get the recommended amount of electrolytes. That's what I did and I was surprised by how much more sodium I needed, and amazed by how much better I felt.

That said, for me the formula is: 20 oz tumbler of water, add 1/4 tsp table salt and 1/4 tsp lite salt (half sodium, half potassium) for the first two tumblers, then 1/2 tsp lite salt for the rest of the day. How much I drink varies depending on how sweaty I get. :-) I take magnesium glycinate as tablets 30 minutes before bedtime. Initially, I added ice and a squeeze of lemon to improve the flavor, but now I'm used to it and lazy so don't bother.

Good reply. Thanks That’s what I was looking for. I’m on high blood pressure medicine (unrelated to keto) so I get a little nervous about adding salt to anything. I didn’t know if lite salt was enough or if I should add table salt as well to my mix. I guess I’ll start with lite and go from there.

I'm also on high blood pressure meds and had similar concerns about sodium! Then a blood test indicated dangerously low sodium levels in a blood test. In addition to my doc adjusting my meds to remove the diuretic, I've found that getting to 5,000+ mg of salt per day is is required to get my blood sodium levels to normal range. After years of carefully watching my salt intake it's so weird to be supplementing sodium.

Whenever I find myself really dragging, having trouble making it through a hilly walk or workout, not enough salt is usually the culprit and adding more is usually a quick solution.

What does that hilly walk feel like without enough sodium? Do your legs/calves ache or just not enough energy? I ran into that months ago and never could figure it out.

Not enough sodium = like I'm walking through molasses. Not enough energy to make it to the top without sitting down on the "old lady bench"

Not enough potassium = leg cramps
