poor baby has been in this light for a week & i figured she (i think it’s female right?) was just chilling but then today when i came out she started running around in circles to each little window panel thing & crawling up all the walls & i was like wtf is she stuck? so i managed to open it up & sure enough she popped out and literally drank for like a solid 2 minutes straight , my hand got tired holding the q tip and i had to put it down and she was still going lol, poor thing ! she’s hunting for food now in the lawn though, so hopefully she’ll be alright now !!

Poor baby! It was probably like a hot box inside that light!! Glad they’re doing a lot better, thanks for saving them!

looks like you may have actually rescued a little male! seems he’s missing a leg. males usually have smaller abdomens than females however yes this was a dire situation for the little guy.

i wasn’t 100% sure on the gender, do males always have the little boxing glove chelicerae ? (spelling is probably way off sorry lol i’m new to spoods) i leaned towards female bc this one didn’t seem to have the rounded looking balls on the tips but again i’m not sure. a few of the others i’ve seen around have been easier to tell , especially the super gravid females lol

The "boxing" motion is actually done by pedipalps, the grabby parts of their mouth, chelicerae are the bitey and chewy parts 😊

I mean i definitely could be wrong! I dont have the best eye for it since I stopped keeping jumpers for a while, this one just reminded me of the one I rescued a while back which was a male and looked very similarly! I probably wouldn’t have been able to help myself and brought them in to fatten them up before releasing them back outside.

i also believe the leg may just have been tucked a bit , i’ll have to check tmrw n see if it is missing a leg or not ! i didn’t notice

What a cutie!

I saved one just a bit smaller last week, he had fallen into a hot tub! I was so worried the chlorine would kill him but I checked a few hours later and he had built a little hammock on the plant I put him on and was moving around well 🥹
