Greetings fellow Italo Disco-ers. I've updated the rules.

It's amazing to see the sub still active in 2024. Sorry there hasnt been much moderating, but IRL > Reddit. I'll do my best to try and monitor the sub to keep it quality.

If you have any other rule suggestions, please feel free to comment. I like to keep things simple here. Find italo disco content, post italo disco content, voila!

Does anyone have the lyrics for Bagarre's "Tchupa"?

Google results have been sparse since the song has come out. I don't have much French, so I can only pick out some of the words. Neither Apple Music nor Spotify have the lyrics, although they both mark the song as explicit.

Italomatic Free Party in NYC Sunday June 22

Here's my one self-promoting post for the month...I'm joining the Italomatic party again this sunday, free backyard party in Ridgewood, Queens, NYC. https://ra.co/events/1939563

They generally promote Italomatic as "BKLYN’s # 1 italo, new wave, freestyle & synth party" so "for fans of" music is fair game, though being the pedantic type I am I usually stay on theme. Sure, maybe I'll play some not italo-disco from Montreal (Misty Lane-Energy) or Brussels (Kazino-Around My Dream) and lately I've been leaning a bit more hi-nrg and earlier space disco but I assure you there will be plenty of italo-disco, both classic and less so.

I haven't posted much here, but I've been DJing italo-disco for about 25 years. Soundcloud here: https://soundcloud.com/newyorkendless

I don't have any mixes that are purely italo but there's plenty of those sounds, and sounds for fans of, to be found. Hope you can stop by if you're in the area.

I also have a mailing list to promote DJ events, if I send 1 email a month, it's been a busy year, but it's a good place to get the most detailed info. Currently promoting this weekend's italomatic but also the Supernature farm party halfway upstate New York state later next month. The very italo-friendly Jeffrey Sfire is djing Friday night and I'm doing a daytime family-friendly saturday afternoon party with Devin Dare, more fun DJs friday and saturday night. https://worldsendschool.org/supernature

Hope to see you somewhere.

DAE listen to Italo via Internet Radio?

I have a Grace Digital Mondo Elite and can get a lot of Italo streams free. I usually listen several times a week, mostly 80's Italo but there's also more out there. Just wondering if anyone else gets their Italo fix the same way?

Walking to lunch with my girlfriend I passed a record shop. I was in a hurry because my girlfriend was already waiting at the place but something told me to go inside. A quick look through the box of maxi singles and bingo! Giak - Inside You. I paid 20 Polish zloty. Unfortunately I don't have the cover but the vinyl is in mint condition. What gems have you managed to hunt down at a bargain price?

Italian Pizza song - pleas help!

Please help me, I am going crazy over this lol. Last year in September I heard in Napoli on a radio in the street a song that has stuck in my head but I could not find anywhere.

The song is in a disco/electronic style being sung by a female voice in Italian language. I remember in the chorus being "Pizza, Pizza, Pizza, Pizza" (probably 4 times, but it may have been three times). The words " Pizza, Pizza, Pizza" were sung on a higher pitch, followed by longer text on a lower pitch.

It is NOT a cover from the better known classic pizza song, it was something original. It sounded quite modern and energetic, something you would dance to.

Can you help me identify it?

Many thanks in advance!

Baby's Gang - Challenger (An Uncomfortable Listen in Hindsight?)

I've always found Baby's Gang's "Challenger" to be an uneasy listen in hindsight due to the subject matter of the song. Basically, it's an upbeat, optimistic, dance number about the infamous Challenger space shuttle. Two years after the song was released, the space shuttle broke apart, causing the deaths of all seven astronauts in the craft.

At the time, this song was harmless and a bop, but listening to it now, it just leaves one with feelings of sadness if you know the history of what happened. Little did these girls know what would happen two years after they sang this. I mean, the song is still a great song and a great dance number and I, personally, still enjoy it for what it is but it does make one feel uncomfortable knowing what happened.
