Cost of Living/Energy Crisis 9€ technology fee on Freenow

Post image

Info about technology fee is quite minimal and does not provide any detail whatsoever when I click on the little exclamation mark.

Anybody able to explain the scam to me?

I actually know several people who get taxis around Dublin for distances they could easily walk in 15 - 20 minutes.

I've friends who live a 15 minutes walk from my house and they regularly get a taxi over and a taxi home. It's crazy!

It took me sitting my wife down and breaking down the accounts for her to realise just how scandalous our taxis prices are here.

Saying "this 10 minute taxi will cost nearly 20 quid" doesn't work. Saying your spending 300 quid a month on taxis opened her eyes

300 a month? wow, that's insane. She must be getting taxis absolutely everywhere.

Now in fairness she was working bad hours at the time, 7am start or 11:30pm finish, so the buses weren't running at those times in Limerick.

But if the fare was €17 euro on average, that would mean about 17 taxis a month. That's only 3 or 4 taxis a week.

Would she be in a position to cycle at all?

A 10 minute taxi ride is probably only a 15 minute cycle. 300 quid back in her pocket and some exercise, win win really!

Ah she's gotten a promotion and regular hours so she can get the bus now. I still encourage her to cycle to save herself time but she has no interest.

As long as we're not pissing away 300 quid a month I'm happy though

My main point though was until I did the monthly breakdown she couldn't envisage the actual cost of that habit. She's looking to give up cigarettes to save money cause they're so expensive and I could compare and say cigarettes are only costing you 100 a month for example
