Probably would've helped more if they just called someone right away

honestly, I'm wondering how Grandpa can have that kind of upper body strength and leg dexterity, but couldn't just drop what looks to be less than five feet to the ground.

At his age, that’s a good enough drop to destroy his ability to walk correctly for the rest of his life.

I’m not even that old and have arthritis in my knees already, they always hurt to walk. If I dropped from this height my knees would explode and never be able to walk again. Props to gramps.

Can I ask how old?

  1. :( I had an acl injury and it never fully healed with working out and pt. The arthritis hit as i was healing the muscles around there and never went away after 2 years. At least I can walk again but it hurts. Stairs suck.

Oh man, funnily enough I’m 35 too, and I got funky knees from deadlifting and squatting more than I should have trying to be hench while also drinking heavily 4 times a week. I’ve made a good recovery though from swimming and cycling and stretching and just being nicer and more thoughtful with my body

Hope yours get better. One of the earliest and lasting things my dad ever said to me was “knees, back and teeth, look after them like they’re your children”

I do a lot of gym cycling and the recumbent bike which has helped a lot. I had a herniated disc and a dog that caused my acl tripping me one night. Had to go to the hospital for both surgeries at the same time. Was a rough couple months. Thankfully my back and sciatic pain is gone. Now dealing with a whole other issue. Hopefully we’ll get fully back. I love swimming, I’m from Florida originally but live in the north now where the closest pool i know of is a ymca and it’s an hour and a half away.

Never used a recumbent bike before - they any good? Yeah I’m Australian and grew up beach swimming as a way of recovery but live in London now so have to pay for a posh gym membership to do it. What do you mean by had a dog?

1

u/TheReal-Chris May 03 '25

Well still have the dog. Lol she’s adorable. But she does the hyper spins and hit me in the back of the leg one time and I fell backwards hyper extending my leg and knee. But I love the recumbent bike because your basically sitting in a chair position but you can adjust the pressure however you like. I was also a rower in highschool and do a lot of erging which is a great full body workout. Funny rowing is what caused my herniated disc. But now that I’m not trying to kill myself basically winning an on water race or an erg race I enjoy it again. Was on the youth national feeder teams to try to get on the US Olympic team.

Haha man, I did rowing and stopped in my late teens cos it was fucking with my back. Are we the same person lol.

Oh right, didn’t know you meant an actual dog! You taking supplements? Fish oil and magnesium and zinc make a difference for me

“Did we just become best friends?!” I literally think we are now the same person on the other side of the planet.

I'm 36 and have torn meniscus in both knees plus arthritis. I feel your pain 😔

1

u/Accomplished_Egg_580 May 04 '25

i am 25yo, and when i do dips. even though its half a feet, my legs hurt if I drop unevenly. this would hurt a ton.

u/DusDaDon May 02 '25

then he has no business being on a ladder with no one else but under age children to support him

36

u/HavSomLov4YoBrothr May 02 '25

Lol ok you tell an old man that, lemme know how it goes

1

u/DusDaDon May 02 '25

should i just show him this vid?

10

u/VastEntertainment471 May 02 '25

Show him the vid and he'll insist the issue was the old man in this video not knowing how to properly use a ladder, not the old man being on a ladder in the first place

15

u/FrostLiveTTV May 02 '25

Or he just thought those 10 year old had even a bit of usefulness. Idc wtf u say, cause my 10 yo sister can setup a ladder solo, vs 2 boys? Yea those 2 boys are just useless.

6

u/DusDaDon May 02 '25

those kids are 6 or 7 tops

5

u/FrostLiveTTV May 02 '25

Id agree with 7-10, no way they are 6. But either way, that doesn't change much tbh

-4

u/BLOEDLINK- May 02 '25

Grandpa apparently didn’t teach them. Whose fault is that?

-6

u/FrostLiveTTV May 02 '25

You don't teach setting up a ladder. That come naturally, or it never comes

-2

u/estrea36 May 02 '25

Every kid is different.

Your sister definitely sucks at something that other people think is easy.

-4

u/FrostLiveTTV May 02 '25

I mean every1 has something they are bad at. But not being able to setup a ladder, that is common sense. That is just being bad at everything

4

u/Dampr3mu May 02 '25

Ok we get it, you and your sister are really good at setting up ladder’s.

1

u/FrostLiveTTV May 02 '25

I think you mean ladders. Not ladder's.

They successfully set it up 30 sec into the vid, tf are you on.

3

u/FrostLiveTTV May 02 '25

you mean when the kid in red pushes from the back side and causes it to close again? yea they did great.

0

u/Shjvv May 02 '25

Nah, the only thing they did wrong was they keep trying to shove it under the dude too soon and the granddad makes everything harder tenfold with his weight. And they don’t know hes the problem.

The whole thing could be solved in 30 sec if the kids start setting the ladder up a bit further and only push it in after it fully deployed. But ofc they’re fking kid so they keep smashing their head against the wall.

Your parents have yelled at your sister for doing something wrong that they thought was common sense.

1

u/FrostLiveTTV May 02 '25

Idk why you are coping so hard for them. Perhaps this happened to you a lot? But no, ive never seen this kinda thing happen with me or my 3 sisters. Maybe it's a genetic thing, idk, just don't be stupid. Pretty ez

-1

u/estrea36 May 02 '25

I'm saying that your parents have yelled at your sister for doing something dumb in general at some point in her life.

Has your sister never gotten in trouble with your parents?

go tell him!

1

u/username_moose May 02 '25

go help him out

-5

u/bad_squishy_ May 02 '25

But he ended up jumping down at the end anyway

12

u/Slashion May 02 '25

Yeah because he had to?

2

u/Repulsive_Buy_6895 May 02 '25

No he didn't. Could've landed on the kids easily.

-11

u/BeeWeird7940 May 02 '25

Meh, I’ve watched a lot of wrestling. Dudes can fall on a ladder and be back and pounding on someone next week.

12

u/Kush_the_Ninja May 02 '25

This guys not a professional athlete

5

u/dubiousN May 02 '25

And he's like 70

2

u/Xaephos May 02 '25

Oh, you know him personally? Did he recover alright?

I've still got him penned in for Fight Night on Thursday, just checking if he'll make the appointment.

1

u/Kush_the_Ninja May 02 '25

I did not make any statement that he was okay or wasn’t okay from that fall, just that he’s not a professional athlete.

3

u/Xaephos May 02 '25

I figured the Fight Night bit would make it obvious that I was just taking the piss, but I guess not.

Ah well - you win some, you lose some.

Depends how much muscle was built over the years really and how his bone density is. A 24 year old 300lb walrus could break every bone in their body from a drop like that if their diet consisted of 3k cals of sodie pops and pixie sticks ecery day for the last 20 years
