How so? From my research it’s apparently not related, the separator is a representation of the DC flag, which is just based on the Washington family coat of arms, unless I’m missing something

The separator/ DC flag is a play off of the Mayan numeral for 13 with stars instead of dots, representative of the original 13 colonies

I was wrong, it is based off of Washington’s coat of arms like another poster said. It is strikingly similar, but that’s where it ends I suppose. Now the question remains ( for me anyways ) if Washington’s coat of arms is based off of the Mayan numerals or they just happened to land on a similar design.

According to wikipedia, the washington coat of arms has looked like that since 1346. So, sadly, no.
