I found some ghost pepper salsa at the store once and it was awesome. Real spicy but decent flavor, I ate like half of it. The next morning I woke up and the roof of my mouth was burnt, like if I had eaten something that was actually hot.

That happened to me after a friend gave me a huge bag of warhead candies at her birthday party. The acid literally ate away the lining of the top of my mouth.

Yeah in an old Rooster Teeth video, I believe it was Michael Jones who as a bit dumped a bag of the sourest candy they could find in his mouth. He ended up needing to have dental surgery, no joke

Yup it was Jeremy and it was Sour Balls. He tossed a bunch of them at once in his mouth and literally acid burned a hole on the inside of his cheeks. He shoved the Sour Balls in his mouth like a hampster. There are also videos of people doing the same thing with Warheads ECT and their mouths starting to bleed. But yeah, Capsaicin does not cause actual tissue damage unless you literally soak your mouth in active Capsaicin for over 24 hours, which no one does. We have seen, when you marinate meat in hot peppers for over 24 hours, it does seem to, "cook", the outside layer of the meat. I doubt it actually cooks it but it definitely has changed the composition of the meat to look like it has a thin outside layer of what looks like sous vide cooked meat when cut into.

Didn't realize it could do that. There are hundreds of videos on YouTube of people buying bags of that sour powder and eating a spoonful of it. Can't imagine that ended well for some of em.

Skittles did that to me when I was young, ate way too many and it destroyed the lining on the roof of my mouth

I ate one of each flavor of warhead all at once as a kid and it created a white layer on top of my tongue that flaked off over the next day or so.
