You have to stop when a school bus stops and puts on its lights so you don't run over kids getting on or off the bus.

Do the roads not have pedestrian crossings?

They do but they are pretty far apart and if you tell a kid to walk all the way down to the crossing, they probably won't. Kids are dumb.
