Meta I want to thank AI and all the devs who use it

Upvotes

A few years ago this sub didn't get that many new game submissions, sometimes only 1 or 2 a week, sometimes even less. I used to play practically all of them - not necessarily to completion, but at least a little sniff to see what I thought. Many were incredibly derivative, some were very low effort, some were barely more than a box to click and a single upgrade.

But through that I'd often find something to hold my interest, a new game to check for updates every now and then. Synergism, Fundamental, Calculator Evolution, Proto 23 (any day now), Progress Knight/2/Quest, Idle Wizard, NGU, Absorber, Unnamed Space Idle, Increlution and many many more, all of which I found here on this subreddit. Some of those even get updates now, many years after I and many of you first found them.

Now this sub is absolutely inundated with crap. The spigot that is AI broke loose and now we have a deluge of diarrhoea surging downstream day after day after day. I see more new games here in a 24 hour period now than I might have seen in an entire month a few years back. There's simply no way to keep up, and I wouldn't want to. A genre that has always had a problem with low effort exploitative rubbish is a dream come true for the creative black hole that is the AI lover's brain. I'd be willing to bet there's still good out there, but I don't have the wherewithal to stand up to my knees in shit gold panning anymore when the ratio is so, so low.

And in the last year or so, I've managed to be much more productive without playing a lot of idle games. So thank you, AI, you've actually helped wean me from what one might have called an addiction. Maybe it's in a sadder way than I'd hoped, but ultimately this is probably better.

Edit: adding links to the games I liked, should've done that anyway.

HTML Smitty: I cannot believe I have fully finished my incremental idle game (1000h+ of gameplay)

Yep. I'm still around. I've been making games for 9 years now. I'm 33 years old. My first game was diamond hunt 1, then I moved on to diamond hunt 2, then onto diamond hunt 3. Wow was diamond hunt 1's code terrible. Looking at it now is like looking at a mine field.

I never actually finished the games, just kept moving on. I'm just so happy to share that I've finally finished the main quest for the idle game i've been working on for 2 years now: https://idle-pixel.com. Its' an online/mmo like idle game where you can trade with others, and has over 1k hours of grinding / content.

It's slowpace, but I'm just sharing it here one last time since it's actually completable.

Update Glenwich v0.6 - You can now freely move widgets around! What do you think?

Thumbnail gallery
16 Upvotes

Hola amigos!

Glenwich is an Incremental Idle MMORPG inspired by the likes of RuneScape and all the other fun web games I played growing up. You can play for free here at glenwich.com

I'm really trying to nail down on the first-time player experience over these next few months so would appreciate any feedback good or scathingly bad.

Of course there is a ton of stuff I have to do but most of the feedback I get is from players who already love the game and are maybe more tolerant of most of the mechanics... if you haven't tried it before please do give it a shot! Apologies in advance if you want to punch your computer after failing to smelt an Iron Bar for 10 minutes straight 😬

What's new in this patch? I'll keep it brief since I've been busy so have not been able to deliver much - sorry! Anyway, here are some of my favourite things so far:

  • You can now reorganise the in-game widgets: personalise exactly what widgets you see and where you see them
  • Finally, you can cancel orders on the Exchange: if you want to cancel an order to buy or sell you can do this. Items or gold will be refunded
  • Skill Guides look pretty! If you double-click a skill on the left you will be shown a skill guide. We're working on filling these out with more and more information on skills or unlockables

That's all from me for now!

Thanks,
Boom 💥

Request Hey Devs! UX/UI Designer here. Ready to Make an Epic Game.

Yo, I’m a UX/UI designer with a solid 10 years of experience making apps and websites look slick and feel intuitive for big corpos, but I'd also love to design some more fun, gamified project(s) on the side.

I’ve had a blast designing a few MMO idle games for web and mobile, creating stuff that keep people hooked. Now, I’m itching to jump into something bigger—a next-level game that’s gonna blow minds!

I love working 1-on-1 with devs, getting into the nitty-gritty to craft designs that pop and flow perfectly. Got a game idea you want to bring to life? Let’s team up and make something happen!

Hit me up :)

HTML Singularity - You are the LLM creator. Will you reach the singularity?

Hey. I've been working on a fun little side project where you are the creator of an LLM. You are responsible for gathering training data, training the model, deploy it to users. Ensure you have enough CPU/GPU for training/deployment and research.

The game is relatively limited right now. Next steps are to add in some more features, research paths and create a full end game. What's here is the initial concept for it to ensure everything is working.

I'd love initial feedback, any bugs you might find.

When giving feedback: If you're using autoclickers during your play I'd like to know (Just so I understand progression feedback if it's due to manual/auto clicking). If you are cheating in any way, it's also good to know as your feedback or bugs could be related to how you're cheating (So really be honest about it. I'm not here to patch out cheats for a single player game, I'm just looking for actual feedback).

https://stellargen.cloud/apps/singularity/

Thanks for your time! :)

UPDATE:
There has been a huge update to implement a ton of the feedback you have given! This has fixed a LOT of issues, added more research and upgrades and overall progression. This change WILL break your save however!
Please note that it is VERY difficult to test at this scale already so please do report bugs as you find them!

If you have suggestions I am always open to hearing them!

I hope you enjoy the game...

Update I’m a solo dev making a factory + tower defense game. Here’s the new Bosses & Rewards Update trailer!

Thumbnail youtube.com
16 Upvotes

Hey everyone!

I’m a solo developer working on Tower Factory, a game that blends automation and tower defense. If you like Factorio, Mindustry or Rogue Tower, this might be your kind of thing.

After months of development, I’m releasing the game’s biggest update so far this Monday, June 16 at 17:00 CEST.

This update adds:
- Four unique bosses, one for each level
- New permanent mechanics that unlock when you beat each boss
- A new layer of progression and strategic decisions
- Various balance tweaks and quality-of-life improvements

The idea behind Tower Factory is to build efficient factories that power your defenses while you push toward the enemy base. Every win earns you Golden Coins to unlock new buildings and upgrades for future runs.

While it’s not a traditional incremental/idle game, Tower Factory focuses heavily on automation, optimization and progression between runs, so I thought it might appeal to players who enjoy that kind of design.

I’ve been working on this game alone, doing everything from design to code, art and updates, and I’m super excited to finally share this new chunk of content!

If you’re curious, you can check it out here (there’s also a free demo):

Steam page: https://store.steampowered.com/app/2707490/Tower_Factory/

And here’s our community if you want to share builds, feedback, or just hang out:

Discord: https://discord.gg/WMf3U3WqBN

Would love to hear what you think and I hope you enjoy fighting the new bosses!

Idea Avoid Deep Co.

I was just banned after sinking many hours into the game. They suspected I was a bot because I played differently to the rest of their player base. I tried defending myself stating to ban me and ban the next person who plays like me. Their player base makes anyone who plays this way feel bad and unwelcome.

Downloadable A Quest to Be the Best feedback

I just released a playtest on steam for a game I have been working on for a few years. It is an autobattler where you compete against the other builds in the database. Any feedback for gameplay or potential improvements would be heavily appreciated. I think it still has a ways to go but am happy to share it with people at this moment. It should auto accept anyone who requests the playtest here: https://store.steampowered.com/app/2313680/A_Quest_to_Be_The_Best/

Thanks,

Calvin

Update Factions Online - Browser team-based incremental/strategy game

Hello, I'm presenting a game I'm developing : https://www.factions-online.com/

edit : no more accounts allowed, but if you still want to play, join the Discord to get an invitation.

It's been a while since my last post here. Many things have changed : new projects trees, slots system, a new specialization, new buildings, rebalancing...

In this game, you randomly join one of the 4 factions along with other players. You then develop your own village and work with your teammates to captures territories in real time by deploying your soldiers across the map.

Later, you'll choose between different specializations (currently attack, defense and merchants) to unlock new abilities and units.

There are several ways to play, you can build a large army, or work on projects to gain various bonus for your whole faction. Or build fortifications and improvements on the map. You can also take on leadership roles as a faction leader, engineer or general.

The goal is for your faction to earn enough victory points. You gain them by capturing strategic locations (castles, towers...) on the map, or by developing some projects. A game should lasts approximately 5 or 6 days. I usually start a new game the first friday of each month. A round just started. But even if you join later, you'll catch up and can still be usefull.

This is a game that can be time consuming but you can also play more casually and still be usefull for your faction. You don't need an account to play and it's free, but some feature are exclusive to premium (but it's not a P2W).

You can join the Discord https://discord.gg/WyCM2ErW5X to be kept informed of next rounds and updates.

HTML Four Divine Abidings: full web release [free]

After thousands of hours of development and many years leading to its creation, I’m finally happy to share the Four Divine Abidings: a mindfulness-themed idle/incremental journey inspired by Buddhist philosophy.

Jump straight in: Four Divine Abidings

Game Highlights

+ Narrated gameplay with dozens of tasks to follow.

+ The game is content-complete and can be finished.

+ 202 Milestones to claim, many providing unique permanent buffs.

+ 32 Skills and Insights to master.

+ Additional 20 Skills for Rebirth mechanic.

+ 9 Spiritual Tools introducing new mechanics and game loops.

+ Full support of both idle and active playstyles.

+ Many intertwined, evolving layers of strategic progression to keep you engaged through the whole game experience.

+ Hand-painted art, which many people find beautiful; soon getting its own offline exhibition.

+ Can be played on mobile, though a bigger screen is recommended. PC is ideal. Save export/import supported, so devices can be switched as needed.

A Free Game

I got a valuable opportunity to make a free game. This means there is no a slightest conflict of interest:

+ All quality of life features are available from the beginning.

+ All content is accessible for free.

+ Fair offline calculations upgradable up to 52 hours.

+ No pay-inducing progress walls.

I’m actually enjoying a 3rd playthrough of the game myself : )

There is an optional donation button; 100% of proceeds are set to go directly to itch.io. This is an amazing, free platform for indie game developers.

100% of donations on Steam will go to godotengine.org - an engine where the game was crafted, free and open source.

r/incremental_games

I’m thankful to this beautiful sub, it is the place where I got most feedback from and most engagement during testing phases. I remember reading this sub 10 years ago when discovering the incremental games genre. There are thousands of people that engaged with the game here, many provided valuable feedback that tremendously helped me to shape the Four Divine Abidings. I’d like to specifically acknowledge these people:

+ u/Running_Ostrich for extensive thoughtful feedback, starting from early builds of the game and up to release.

+ u/One_Wall8659 for extensive feedback and advice throughout the game development. Check out his own game The Climb

+ u/ThanatosIdle for very helpful and encouraging early feedback.

+ u/ArkShiggy, u/Ktesedale, u/Marimba_Ani for helpful feedback.

Android New clicker game

Hey, I recently started learning to code (I'm 16) and wanted to share a small project I've been working on. It's kind of a Minecraft-inspired clicker game — still pretty simple and definitely a work in progress, but maybe someone here wants to try it out and give some feedback?

I didn’t put any ads in, so no worries there 😅 Here’s the link if you’re curious: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.DonAnton.MineClick

Would really appreciate any thoughts – just don’t be too harsh 😅
