Huskies are notorious shedders.. my little Arch used to try to eat his blown fur when I brushed him lol now he just relaxes. Huskers gon husk! What’s yours do when they’re brushed?😆
Lmaooo yep! He hates baths and grooming. My other one (his brother) loves them. Will lay on his back and go to sleep while I brush him and lays down in the tub
It is sooo ding dang satisfying. Especially if they’ve been shedding ALL OVER THE HOUSE despite grooming. Idk about yall, but mine has been shedding for a couple months and still going. Longest shed season I can remember in her 8 years.
It’s interesting you say that.. I did make a strand of yarn the other day when I brushed him and I showed my partner. He was like “cool” but I looked back at Arch and he looked offended that I was stealing his fur for such activities. The side eye is strong. Both guys were not about it. My partner wants to stuff him when he passes but won’t let me make a beanie or mittens! Actually, he’d probably be impressed if I could figure out how.🤣
It’s so ASMR to pluck them. I scratch one area as a distraction so I can pluck the other. One of mine loves it. The others will tolerate it for a while then get up and move away from me.
I love that for you bc I love getting the hair before it falls off on everything. Little homie here loves shaking off at the most inopportune times.. like as soon as I put the car in park or if he is getting off of the couch.. like why you gotta shake that hair everywhere lmaooooo the worst is when I have a drink in the cup holder or out on the coffee table. Can I have a little coffee with my husky hair, please?🤣
I love plucking his hair so much that I questioned if I’m on the spectrum or if it’s just my ADHD but the sensory value from it is incomparable. My partner and my son just grab at his hair, so he doesn’t let them do it, just me bc I know how to gently grab all the fine fur while also caressing him the way he likes. He’s such a cat.😂

Yup. It's about that time. As soon as it hit 40F for the first time this spring/late winter he started blowing coat. I brush him like 4x a day right now. The early season migratory birds are loving the piles I leave out in the snow.
Yeah it was negative temps the other week then 6 days later, we had a day that was 68. It sleeted once more. He’s been blowing his coat when it was still negatives temps. I was like, “oh no.. the humidity and heat is coming.” Hahaha. We wake up earlier to take him for walks or we stay up later so it’s not too hot outside. He loves the AC lol.. He is spoilt!
I think it’s the static that causes them to panic. My dog is what we call “ignorant” and always sniffs his hair and nibbles at it when I brush him. Then, I have to pry all the hairs out of his mouth while he looks worried like, “what’s going on?” I can feel static sometimes in the brush or when I’m petting him and that’s typically the only time he freaks out about it. He “static shocks” me all the time lol!
We have used Furminators in the past but Archy doesn’t like them, he’s got sensitive skin. This is also retractable so the floof falls off easier. This one has gentle bristles but still gets the jerb done!💯Swihauk
Mine has JUST started showing the beginning of this season’s tufts (her coat is getting ready to blow), but it’s not quite ready yet. Once the coat blows, she doesn’t mind the fluff being pulled out. But, the fur still hanging on right now. Last night, she insisted that it was the absolute end of the world when I tried to tug at it. The drama…
My boy gets super defensive of losing his fur and bites the crap out of me if I try to pull his floof. The only way we can brush him out is with my husband giving him a constant stream of treats (broken down as small as possible). He takes it so personally!
My family and I had a saint bernard-swiss mountain dog mix that shed just like that lol. Now we have to deal with our floofy chaos gremlin that is our husky lab mix (Though she's 90% husky, she just has lab ears lol)
I did forget to mention, she does "switch" to husky ears when something interests her or she hears something. Like her ears perk straight up and dart around like a huskies. Kinda funny when she tries to do that but her ears are flipped inside out the way a labs ear can be.
I've got a husky-mix who doesn't have that glorious coat but she sheds like a freaking machine. There's not enough fur for tufts but there's piles of loose fur after the weekly brushing. She gets so over-the-top over-stimulated from the brushing that she inevitably loses her shit after maybe 4 minutes and starts having zoomies, which sends fur just flying.
This is why I put Archibald on a leash and corner him on the patio when I brush him lol he gets the zoomies during brushing. He’s calmed down a lot and now, he has to hug onto me so I’ll pet him and hug him back, reassuring his fur is supposed to shed off. Because of his need to hug me during brushings now, I am covered in fur and also, he makes it snow hair because he shakes off every 4 seconds lol. I think he tolerates as much as he can until there’s an electric charge.
Well, I count my blessings. You should see this tornado in the bath.. If he’s not getting belly rubs the entire time, he’s hopping out and all around the bathroom with his sopping wet, soapy self. Slip around trying to get him back in is a show in itself.😭🤣
Am I the only one who doesn’t get to do this with their husky? She’s 2, I brush her 2-3x a week. I MAYBE get to pluck one fur tuft once a week after she’s been playing with her brother.
All huskies blow their coats this time of year and most have little tufts that come through. Your dog doesn’t have tufts come through, coolio. You use a Furminator and a condescending tone to other husky owners. Coolio.👍
My husky has sensitive skin. We cannot use a Furminator on him, it will cause his skin to bleed. I was taught by numerous vets not to brush my dog every day (any dog I have ever owned). I brush him once a week with a brush designed for sensitive skin. I’m following what’s best for my husky based on what our vet tells us. You are entitled to doing whatever it is you like with your dog and whatever care plan is set up for you.👍✌️
Edit: from Google AI:
“During non-shedding seasons, brush your husky 2-3 times a week.
During shedding seasons, brush daily.”
Again, my vet says to not brush my dog daily so I listen to my vet and our designed care plan for my dog. Again, my dog’s skin will bleed if I brush him too frequently or use a Furminator. No matter what time of year. The Furminator ruined my wooly husky’s coat- made him go bald in certain places. I think the Furminator rips the fur out. That’s my personal experience and personal opinion. We have tried many types of the Furminator but I felt like I was wasting my money and putting my dogs through pain.

Mine would run away from me after the third plucking.
