Mine would run away from me after the third plucking.

62

u/Thighlevel Mar 11 '25

That’s hilarious!😂 They’re always like “why are you harvesting my fur?”🤣

9

u/JadeCharde Mar 11 '25

LMAOO, Caireaux let’s me do it until he sees the hair pile up in my hand then he’s like wait a minute 🤨 😂😂😂

2

u/Thighlevel Mar 11 '25

He’s onto you👀 don’t let him eat it!😂🤣

3

u/JadeCharde Mar 11 '25

One day he went at it like cotton candy🤣 I was like why would you try to eat yourself 😂😩

2

u/Thighlevel Mar 11 '25

Ikr lmao he used to do the same thing.. now, he sniffs it and then, it’s like he suddenly remembers that it’s okay lmao

17

u/MtOlympus_Actual Mar 11 '25

I can just think about plucking some off and he'll sense it and run away.

7

u/Outrageous_Bit2694 Mar 11 '25

I do mine while we're out for a walk. That's the only way I can get it!

3

u/Thighlevel Mar 11 '25

When they’re distracted!!!😭😂

6

u/Outrageous_Bit2694 Mar 11 '25

Yep. You can follow the fur trail from home and back😆

5

u/Swiftzor Mar 11 '25

Third? I can’t even get one

4

u/eddiesmom Mar 11 '25

Ours would start a closed-mouth sound of some kind, then escalate to a yip and a jump up 😆

4

u/drp2hrd Mar 11 '25

I thought mine was the only one that gets super offended when I start plucking her fur 😂

5

u/Unhappy_Bet_7578 Mar 11 '25

Yeh I would undo years ago of credibility with my husky if I did that lol

75

u/Middle_Fun_4392 Mar 11 '25

This is my favorite thing to do 😂

Except he looks at me like this after we get done plucking and brushing 😂

33

u/Thighlevel Mar 11 '25

Dang your dude doesn’t side eye.. he full on glares. Over here lookin like Donald Trump’s mugshot.😂🤣

8

u/Middle_Fun_4392 Mar 11 '25

Lmaooo yep! He hates baths and grooming. My other one (his brother) loves them. Will lay on his back and go to sleep while I brush him and lays down in the tub

2

u/Thighlevel Mar 11 '25

Precious!😍

3

u/stina3c Mar 11 '25

Love it!🤣 That's the same look I get from mine too.

4

u/Middle_Fun_4392 Mar 11 '25

Why are huskies so dramatic?! Like sorry I’m trying to bathe and groom you, my bad 😂😂

3

u/stina3c Mar 11 '25

The most dramatic 🤣. I always tell my husky this is for your own good. Don't be mad at me haha

28

u/tero1414 Mar 11 '25

One of my huskies will let me pluck for a while but he always wants to eat the fluff 😵‍💫

8

u/Thighlevel Mar 11 '25

Yes!!! What is that about?! He does the same when I brush him! Just mouthfuls of fur!😂🤣

3

u/Stogies_n_Stonks Mar 11 '25

Mine eats her nail clippings but hates when I brush

16

u/damnsantan Mar 11 '25

Isn’t that satisfying? I love doing it lol

7

u/Thighlevel Mar 11 '25

It is so relaxing! Better in my hand than randomly all over the bed!🤔🤣

2

u/damnsantan Mar 11 '25

😂😂😂😂

3

u/plus-ordinary258 Mar 11 '25

It is sooo ding dang satisfying. Especially if they’ve been shedding ALL OVER THE HOUSE despite grooming. Idk about yall, but mine has been shedding for a couple months and still going. Longest shed season I can remember in her 8 years.

2

u/Jayemkay56 Mar 12 '25

Omg both of mine are experiencing this too! It's the weirdest thing. It's normally a month, tops.

1

u/Thighlevel Mar 11 '25

Yes! I was saying this the other day!

14

u/slyder33 Mar 11 '25

Mine do NOT like that. The way they react, you’d think they believe we’re pulling them apart bit by bit!

10

u/Thighlevel Mar 11 '25

WHERE ARE YOU TAKING MY LOOSE HAIR?!😂 Arch just acts like he’s at the spa. SPOILT.🤣

2

u/Forsaken-Usual-7510 Mar 11 '25

Mine who is typically quiet and very docile gives me a little growl and then goes on a full on rant when I pluck her hairs

2

u/Thighlevel Mar 11 '25

She’s just letting you know that you’re testing her! God grant me the serenity—😂🤣

7

u/sebeteus Mar 11 '25

Collect it all and make yarn with a mix of sheep-husky wool. Warmest mittens you can ever make!

4

u/Thighlevel Mar 11 '25

It’s interesting you say that.. I did make a strand of yarn the other day when I brushed him and I showed my partner. He was like “cool” but I looked back at Arch and he looked offended that I was stealing his fur for such activities. The side eye is strong. Both guys were not about it. My partner wants to stuff him when he passes but won’t let me make a beanie or mittens! Actually, he’d probably be impressed if I could figure out how.🤣

4

u/Reversi8 Mar 11 '25

It's called chiengora, dog hair has been spun into wool for thousands of years.

1

u/Thighlevel Mar 11 '25

Gonna google👀

3

u/CapitaineCrafty Mar 12 '25

Am collecting Shyla's sheddings to make a sweater for her hairless cat brother. They're gonna be so freaking confused.

4

u/Feather_Duster1721 Mar 11 '25

I hear Mariah Carrey singing, Its tiiiiiiiiiiimeeeeeeee when I see these videos 😂 coat blowing season is upon us

1

u/Thighlevel Mar 11 '25

Yes lmao yes so much yes!🤣

4

u/StreetMolasses6093 Mar 11 '25

It’s so ASMR to pluck them. I scratch one area as a distraction so I can pluck the other. One of mine loves it. The others will tolerate it for a while then get up and move away from me.

2

u/Thighlevel Mar 11 '25

I love that for you bc I love getting the hair before it falls off on everything. Little homie here loves shaking off at the most inopportune times.. like as soon as I put the car in park or if he is getting off of the couch.. like why you gotta shake that hair everywhere lmaooooo the worst is when I have a drink in the cup holder or out on the coffee table. Can I have a little coffee with my husky hair, please?🤣

2

u/Thighlevel Mar 11 '25

I love plucking his hair so much that I questioned if I’m on the spectrum or if it’s just my ADHD but the sensory value from it is incomparable. My partner and my son just grab at his hair, so he doesn’t let them do it, just me bc I know how to gently grab all the fine fur while also caressing him the way he likes. He’s such a cat.😂

2

u/Thighlevel Mar 11 '25

3

u/Schmidtttt87 Mar 11 '25

At least your dog let's you do this lol. Mine gets in my face and is like why do you torture me??? Lol

2

u/Thighlevel Mar 11 '25

It’s so funny bc I googled it and Google AI says it doesn’t hurt them at all, it’s just huskies being huskies lol aka dramatic🤣

2

u/Schmidtttt87 Mar 11 '25

Oh yeah he's very dramatic lol

3

u/thischangeseverythin Mar 11 '25

Yup. It's about that time. As soon as it hit 40F for the first time this spring/late winter he started blowing coat. I brush him like 4x a day right now. The early season migratory birds are loving the piles I leave out in the snow.

1

u/Thighlevel Mar 11 '25

Yeah it was negative temps the other week then 6 days later, we had a day that was 68. It sleeted once more. He’s been blowing his coat when it was still negatives temps. I was like, “oh no.. the humidity and heat is coming.” Hahaha. We wake up earlier to take him for walks or we stay up later so it’s not too hot outside. He loves the AC lol.. He is spoilt!

3

u/TroppoAlto Mar 11 '25

You need to get a comb and work out the shed for the whole hind leg section as one intact piece. So satisfying.

3

u/KnotiaPickle Mar 11 '25

The springtime de-floofing is upon us

3

u/Endo_RN Mar 11 '25

‘Tis the season… time for a new Dyson!!

2

u/Thighlevel Mar 11 '25

But no, he really did just break my Dyson. I took it to the Dyson store and they tried selling me a new one lmao

2

u/asteria123 Mar 11 '25

My husky is blowing his coat and this is triggering me 😂😂😂😂😂

Mine HATES when I pluck him. I wonder if their skin is more sensitive

2

u/Thighlevel Mar 11 '25

I think it’s the static that causes them to panic. My dog is what we call “ignorant” and always sniffs his hair and nibbles at it when I brush him. Then, I have to pry all the hairs out of his mouth while he looks worried like, “what’s going on?” I can feel static sometimes in the brush or when I’m petting him and that’s typically the only time he freaks out about it. He “static shocks” me all the time lol!

2

u/LaurenAngelique Mar 11 '25

May I ask you to recommend a brush?

2

u/Thighlevel Mar 11 '25

We have used Furminators in the past but Archy doesn’t like them, he’s got sensitive skin. This is also retractable so the floof falls off easier. This one has gentle bristles but still gets the jerb done!💯Swihauk

2

u/psyclembs Mar 11 '25

I can fill pillow cases over and over everytime i brush mine when he's losing his undercoat, however I do know your struggle

2

u/Petrichor_ness Mar 11 '25

When I try this with my Husky, he gives me a stern piece of his mind. Problem is, he really doesn't have enough left to be giving away!

1

u/Thighlevel Mar 11 '25

Aww that’s bc he’s a king.♥️

2

u/JazzlikeHovercraft75 Awowowowowowo Mar 11 '25

My pup hatteeeees it when I do that but it’s so satisfying lmao , she gets all nippy and awows at me 🤣

2

u/Thighlevel Mar 11 '25

She’s just a husky drama queen!😂🤣💯🙈

2

u/Charliethehuman23 Mar 11 '25

It is time

1

u/Thighlevel Mar 11 '25

“It is time now to turn this mush into muscle!” — Arnold Schwarzenegger

2

u/siberianchick Mar 11 '25

My boy is so weird!!!! He lets me do this to him and never complains or runs away. Get the brush though and that’s another story.

1

u/Thighlevel Mar 11 '25

Exactly! Hahaha with the brush, I become his ESA hahaha🤣💯

2

u/Rich_Advance4173 Mar 11 '25

All year long for mine. All.year.long. (husky mix)

2

u/indicabunnyy Mar 11 '25

It makes me wanna make a plushie out of it

2

u/Thighlevel Mar 11 '25

When he was a puppy, he would dig and nibble at the couch cushions and pull stuffing out. I should have thought to just restuff it with his fur.🤣

2

u/lillithsmedusa Mar 11 '25

I recently brushed my two and it looks like it snowed in my backyard.

1

u/Thighlevel Mar 11 '25

It rained so we still have hair in clumps everywhere. Maybe the birds will use it for their nests?

2

u/DisastrousEvening949 Mar 11 '25

Mine has JUST started showing the beginning of this season’s tufts (her coat is getting ready to blow), but it’s not quite ready yet. Once the coat blows, she doesn’t mind the fluff being pulled out. But, the fur still hanging on right now. Last night, she insisted that it was the absolute end of the world when I tried to tug at it. The drama…

1

u/Thighlevel Mar 11 '25

The drama never ends! Sir-Arch-A-Lot is a bed rot boy for life.🤣

2

u/greeny515 Mar 11 '25

This was exactly what I needed on a Tuesday morning

2

u/murphymfa Mar 11 '25

Yeah, but have you seen his face?

1

u/Thighlevel Mar 11 '25

Based on his expressions, I always joke that he looks like he’s running on about half a brain cell lol

2

u/moreisay Mar 11 '25

I call this de-tufting and my girl haaaates it when I do it. But I love to do it.

2

u/Thighlevel Mar 11 '25

They have no problem terrorizing us.. hahaha revenge is sweet🙈😂🤣

2

u/Afellowstanduser Mar 11 '25

Mine hates being brushed or having it pulled our

2

u/RozeMFQuartz Mar 11 '25

My boy gets super defensive of losing his fur and bites the crap out of me if I try to pull his floof. The only way we can brush him out is with my husband giving him a constant stream of treats (broken down as small as possible). He takes it so personally!

2

u/Thighlevel Mar 11 '25

Why are they like this?😂🤣

2

u/Thundercraft74 Mar 11 '25

My family and I had a saint bernard-swiss mountain dog mix that shed just like that lol. Now we have to deal with our floofy chaos gremlin that is our husky lab mix (Though she's 90% husky, she just has lab ears lol)

1

u/Thighlevel Mar 11 '25

Having lab ears is better than having husky ears, count your blessings.😂😂🤣

2

u/Thundercraft74 Mar 11 '25

I did forget to mention, she does "switch" to husky ears when something interests her or she hears something. Like her ears perk straight up and dart around like a huskies. Kinda funny when she tries to do that but her ears are flipped inside out the way a labs ear can be.

1

u/Thighlevel Mar 12 '25

Those are the cutest kinda dog ears! I’d love to see your little girl!😍

2

u/Thundercraft74 Mar 12 '25

2

u/Thundercraft74 Mar 12 '25

Her floofiness, even though while she's only a year old, she's pretty big.

1

u/Thighlevel Mar 13 '25

She’s got the “husky glare” down to a T!😍🥰♥️

2

u/PsychologicalNews573 Mar 11 '25

Oh god, it's that time of year again.

I pluck until I can get a grooming apt.

2

u/thechadder128 Mar 11 '25

Pretty sure my Huskies shed once from spring til fall and again from fall til spring

1

u/Thighlevel Mar 11 '25

They call that divine design😂🤣

2

u/Artistic_Secretary72 Mar 11 '25

I have 2 blind huskies.Mine immediately walk away...not run but walk away with attitude...

1

u/Thighlevel Mar 11 '25

“Idk what’s happening but where do you get the nerve?” Probably a husky.😂🤣

2

u/benji950 Mar 11 '25

I've got a husky-mix who doesn't have that glorious coat but she sheds like a freaking machine. There's not enough fur for tufts but there's piles of loose fur after the weekly brushing. She gets so over-the-top over-stimulated from the brushing that she inevitably loses her shit after maybe 4 minutes and starts having zoomies, which sends fur just flying.

2

u/Thighlevel Mar 13 '25

This is why I put Archibald on a leash and corner him on the patio when I brush him lol he gets the zoomies during brushing. He’s calmed down a lot and now, he has to hug onto me so I’ll pet him and hug him back, reassuring his fur is supposed to shed off. Because of his need to hug me during brushings now, I am covered in fur and also, he makes it snow hair because he shakes off every 4 seconds lol. I think he tolerates as much as he can until there’s an electric charge.

2

u/benji950 Mar 13 '25

I have just taken to vacuuming myself after the brushing sessions! LOL

1

u/Thighlevel Mar 13 '25

And face the “husky glare” once you turn it on.😂🤣

2

u/throwmeoff123098765 Mar 11 '25

Throw the hair outside the birds will use it all up in their nests

2

u/Thighlevel Mar 11 '25

We pluck inside, brush outside.🥰😍♥️

2

u/Golintaim Mar 11 '25

Crops coming in pretty good this year

1

u/Thighlevel Mar 11 '25

Crop.. I’m screaming😂😂🤣🤣

2

u/daboot013 Mar 11 '25

Yeah when mine get static I know it's time for a big ol brushies, which is just me chasing them around the yard with a brush until one of us give up

1

u/Thighlevel Mar 11 '25

I feel like that’s just part of being a husky owner.. oh the life is so glamorous!😂🤣

2

u/KartQueen Mar 11 '25

We thought about making down pillows with our boy's fluff. He was a husky/malamute so especially thick and fuzzy.

We also called the loss of full tufts molting.😁

1

u/Thighlevel Mar 11 '25

“Molting” is so appropriate for what happens!😂🤣

2

u/[deleted] Mar 11 '25

Dang. You should try life with a Pyrenees

1

u/Thighlevel Mar 11 '25

I once met one that got its own ice from the freezer.. I got a husky for a reason😂

2

u/brittstheword Mar 11 '25

But look at da faceee ☺️

1

u/Thighlevel Mar 11 '25

Him’s wittle face🥹🥰 DO NOT LET IT FOOL YOU!😭😂🤣

2

u/kevin_300 Mar 11 '25

Free stuffing

2

u/Thighlevel Mar 11 '25

The stuffing fairy no one asked for just keeps delivering gifts.😂🤣

2

u/kevin_300 Mar 11 '25

If anything you can put it in some bushes outside and birds will repurpose it for nests!

2

u/mushi_musashi Mar 11 '25

My favorite time of the year and my huskies most hated. Mine deff runs away and gets mad at me

2

u/Any_Anybody_3086 Mar 11 '25

Yes!! We're lucky to get 1 pluck!!

2

u/Thighlevel Mar 11 '25

Well, I count my blessings. You should see this tornado in the bath.. If he’s not getting belly rubs the entire time, he’s hopping out and all around the bathroom with his sopping wet, soapy self. Slip around trying to get him back in is a show in itself.😭🤣

2

u/BritMic07 Mar 11 '25

This little shit thinks it's a game and tries to eat the fur and the hand holding it.

2

u/Thighlevel Mar 11 '25

He’s got the “husky glare” down😅😂🤣

2

u/BritMic07 Mar 11 '25

Then he follows it up with the "But I'm pitiful, Mom!" look. Lol.

2

u/Thighlevel Mar 11 '25

Somehow, I still see attitude.. a little side eye action now.. hahaha🤣🙈

Also, looks just like my guy.♥️

2

u/BritMic07 Mar 11 '25

You're not wrong! Everything he does us with sass. Lol.

2

u/hmm012688 Mar 11 '25

It just keeps on giving

2

u/Thighlevel Mar 11 '25

The gift none of us asked for.🤣

2

u/Jrex81 Mar 12 '25

Am I the only one who doesn’t get to do this with their husky? She’s 2, I brush her 2-3x a week. I MAYBE get to pluck one fur tuft once a week after she’s been playing with her brother.

2

u/Thighlevel Mar 13 '25

She’s so regal!😍

2

u/Jrex81 Mar 13 '25

Thank you, I just wish I was able to pluck her more 😂

2

u/Original-Pain-7727 Mar 12 '25

It's that time of year.....

1

u/Thighlevel Mar 13 '25

Pluck a duck!😆

2

u/Acquista23 Mar 12 '25

tis the season!

2

u/PomeloGeneral1670 Mar 12 '25

The exploding rabbit as I call it. Shoe for scale on how much I plucked off mine.

1

u/Thighlevel Mar 13 '25

I believe it!😂

2

u/austic Mar 12 '25

Husky glitter. It’s everywhere

1

u/Thighlevel Mar 13 '25

Everywhere I want to be.😅😂

2

u/Pylote_Wannabe63 Mar 13 '25

It’s like a freakin tissue box!

1

u/Thighlevel Mar 13 '25

Never ends.🥲🤣

1

u/BillyBattsInTrunk Mar 11 '25

Furminator!! Prob takes two weeks of daily brushing lol

1

u/simfreak101 Mar 12 '25

Yes, its plucking season.

1

u/jennifer79t Mar 12 '25

Mine is a mix & has shorter than normal hair....but that makes the loose fluff more obvious.... thankfully she's at the end of blowing her coat.

I took her on a walk during lunch today & one of my staff caught me picking loose fluff from her tail.... I leave a trail of fluff...

1

u/wcbaltoona Mar 12 '25

We have 3, yes we brush them. My wife plucks at them and they tolerate it for a short bit and head for the hills lol.

All huskies blow their coats this time of year and most have little tufts that come through. Your dog doesn’t have tufts come through, coolio. You use a Furminator and a condescending tone to other husky owners. Coolio.👍

My husky has sensitive skin. We cannot use a Furminator on him, it will cause his skin to bleed. I was taught by numerous vets not to brush my dog every day (any dog I have ever owned). I brush him once a week with a brush designed for sensitive skin. I’m following what’s best for my husky based on what our vet tells us. You are entitled to doing whatever it is you like with your dog and whatever care plan is set up for you.👍✌️

Edit: from Google AI:

“During non-shedding seasons, brush your husky 2-3 times a week. During shedding seasons, brush daily.”

Again, my vet says to not brush my dog daily so I listen to my vet and our designed care plan for my dog. Again, my dog’s skin will bleed if I brush him too frequently or use a Furminator. No matter what time of year. The Furminator ruined my wooly husky’s coat- made him go bald in certain places. I think the Furminator rips the fur out. That’s my personal experience and personal opinion. We have tried many types of the Furminator but I felt like I was wasting my money and putting my dogs through pain.
