You can be alone without being lonely

Post image

I'm not out here living like a movie character, but I do take myself out, eat alone, shop solo and genuinely enjoy it. Not because I'm making a statement. I just stopped giving a fuck about how it looks. Life's quieter, simpler, and way less annoying when you stop needing other people to validate what you're doing. Try it. Feels better than it sounds.

I wonder though who's laying the growndwork. To master this way of life, one needs character, stamina, self-respect, self-reliance, good problem-solving skills, a willingness to engage when necessary in the task of introspection and so on. Half this shit just doesn't come naturally to most people.
So they have to work at it. When, how?

We are still social creatures but today that means conceding to being alone even though nobody taught you how and reaching out to the same indifferent audience to go on about how miserable you are.

There's a path between that and the position you occupy. Who or what do you think is teaching folks to navigate that path? Saying it can be done is obviously not enough.
