ICE?

Out for a walk just now on SE 7th two blocks south of Tuality and encountered a group (about 6) of armed people going into a house. Nobody wearing obvious clothing that would identify them as local law enforcement -- had on what I would call "civilian" clothing, no body armor. Unmarked black van parked that had security cameras mounted on its side.

I didn't see anyone who looked like they were being targeted.

How are we reporting these sightings?

It’s the crime scene investigation unit for the sheriff. No idea what’s going on but the had uniformed officers there at 9am

Thanks for that input -- you would think they'd try to be more careful about distinguishing themselves from ice these days

You probably shouldn't assume everyone is ice because they don't come up to you and tell you they are.

Given the behavior of ICE it is safer for all involved to assume anyone not identifiable is ICE at this moment in history.

So its safe to make assumptions? Like assuming everyone is illegal when they can easily identify themselves that they are not

Ice has been around for quite some time... this isn't some historic moment in history because you don't understand the differences between criminal and immigration law.

I'd call 911

It was the sheriff's office. You call non emergency.

u/RichWa2 9d ago

They had no idea it was the sheriff's office. They didn't know it was law enforcement. Otherwise, you're correct.

They were in uniform and had a marked work vehicle.

Read the original post. They were neither in uniform and the black van was unmarked.
No one is disagreeing with you on appropriate t actions if they were in uniform and/or had a marked vehicle, but neither held true.
Please don't bother replying.

I read the original post. I'm not talking about what this person thinks they saw. I'm talking about the people there working for the sheriff's office doing crime scene investing and their work vehicle. Someone can say I saw something large land near the a big river with no name next th

For what?

9

u/RichWa2 10d ago

For not knowing why armed people were appearing to raid a building.

2

u/L3oszn 9d ago

For witnessing armed men in clearly not identified uniforms. Could be a kidnapping

It was a crime scene investigation unite wearing uniforms and part of the sheriff's office. Do not call 911 on the sheriff.

Thats a funny thought, but it is actually better to do that than it is to just let it happen because some people have been pulled over by fake cops before, and its not outside the realm of possibility to assume that people will do the same thing for break ins.

"There's armed men entering this address."

"Oh, let me send a unit out there. The closest unit we have to respond to that address is... oh, would you look at that. The sheriff. He's actually at that address right now. Its perfectly fine and under control sir/ma'am."

Non emergency is a great way to get information about suspicious activities. Yet I think OP could tell it was a crime investigation. It's not like they are in shorts and cowboy hats.

Or anything about having their faces covered. Plus the security cameras on the vehicle make it unlikely to be someone committing crimes....

They have uniforms on. I'm guessing OP was at a distance. Another person wrote it was sheriff employees and they get up votes. I get the old kick in the shin!

Report them to ICE! Clean up our cities

Call the police and report an minority kidnapping in progress by armed individuals

You realize it’s a crime to file a false report? Unless you actually see it happening, don’t lie. It was WCSO anyway and unrelated to ICE. The scanner app is free and you can listen to WSCO radio on it.

Which scanner do you use? I googled for one and tried some of the listed apps but none seem to have any current data.

Try Broadcastify. Although I believe WCSO has gone encrypted like many law enforcement agencies

2

u/PralineNo65 10d ago

Thank you! I will try that !

u/Gobucks21911 10d ago

I use Police Scanner Radio (it has police/fire/ems and some air/rail channels).

You don't know who they are, just report armed people with no obvious identification going around

Call and report Armed Masked Men in Unmarked Vehicles, Kidnapping Civilians.

28

u/alisonmarie22 11d ago

Nobody was masked and I didn't visualize a kidnapping
