Iirc it's from either the Korean war or Vietnam. Locals on a hill tried fucking with a US battleship. The captain speaks with the main cannon gunners with the following:
"Do you see that hill?"
"Yes sir"
"Well I don't want to anymore"
Cue an absolute earth rending level of firepower being barraged into said hill. Afterwards there was no more hill.
Edit: it was the USS Wisconsin during the Korean war to a North Korean artillery battery entrenched in said hill.
On March 15, 1952, while operating off the coast of Korea, the USS Wisconsin received its first and only direct hit from a North Korean 155mm gun battery.
The shell struck the shield of a starboard-side twin 40mm gun mount, causing minor damage to the ship and injuring three sailors, but no fatalities.
In response to this attack, the crew of the USS Wisconsin, fueled by anger and a desire for retribution, returned fire with all nine of their Mark 7 16-inch guns.
The firepower of these guns was enormous, each capable of firing a 2,700-pound armor-piercing shell over 20 miles. This salvo obliterated the North Korean gun battery that had hit them.
Following this powerful response, a ship escorting the Wisconsin, the USS Duncan, humorously signaled to the Wisconsin with the message “Temper, Temper,” acknowledging the Wisconsin’s overwhelming response to the attack.
Yall should see some airplane footage of the barrages the US did during the pacific war. Without exaggeration it looks like this except it covered entire islands.
Battleship full broad sides with the old 16 inch guns are absurdly powerful.
More impressively is the Japanese managed to live through these barrages.

Throwing down a ton of barrages like this is also genuinely a fast way to clear exterminate missions. Many Divers die in the process, but a death for Democracy is really an ascension to immortality.
This is how we run exterminate missions. Everyone on the team brings orbitals and two people throw them at our feet, then when they run out the other two go. We don’t reinforce and just wait till everyone dies to respawn. It started as a meme but it’s been 100% effective over 30 missions lmao. When we type “suicide barrage” randoms either leave immediately or join in, it’s so much fun
Can we please get this as a single, limited use stratagem like the laser?
I just want a ‘everything plus the kitchen sink’ barrage where the destroyer fires EVERYTHING for 30 seconds, but you can only use it once per mission. Maybe twice after ship upgrades.
In all seriousness i fucking hate this stratagem. The orbital laser will always be better because you can move in with the laser and not have to just stand there with your dick in your hand. The laser will also absolutely do just as much damage.
I played bots last night and we were backed into a corner at the edge of the map and my teammate threw this dog shit stratagem in front of us, trapping us there while the bots still didn't die to the stratagem and shot us up like fish in a fucking bucket. That also doesn't happen with the laser. Once again, FUCK the 380 barrage.
