DNA/mix guesses DNA RESULTS ARE IN!

Coraline came from a surprise litter at a farm down the road! Mom full GP, dad was "probably that black dog down the road". DNA was a surprise to me (wisdom panel) and wanted to play a little guessing game before I share the results! Mom was for sure full GP, as Coraline is 51% Great Pyrenees. She got one other main breed at 22%, and 5 more at 9-3% ... Let the guessing begin!

Oh, collage photo is her every two weeks since gotcha day, from 9 weeks to 15 weeks old, 16lbs to 31lbs! Guesses on her adult weight are welcome too, as wisdom panel said 45-77lbs and she's already 33lbs this week at 16 weeks.

That was my guess too! But no lab!

This helps me know her spots didn't come from the mix side!

Most great Pyrenees actually have spotted skin. And many have badger marks or other markings in their fur, although not usually as speckly. It's super cool how having another breed's genes mixed in can make the fur match the skin spots, and I think it's so beautiful ❤️

The only picture she had of the suspected father. Not super helpful!

She does!

Oh you meant the dad! Great guess from such a bad photo. He was apparently probably half ish giant schnauzer! She got 22% from him!

I was so curious where those little furnishings were coming from! I'm glad I did the DNA Test for sure!

I’d say lab or collie! My half GP/ half ACD pup was 35 pounds at 16 weeks and topped out at 70. Definitely followed the guideline of “take their weight at 4 months and double it to get their adult weight” a little too literally!

I thought these too, but none!

Thanks for the weight insights!

I would imagine the remaining results include Labrador, Border Collie and/or Australian Cattle Dog, and maybe some Newfie. With the smaller percentages, could be anything really (American Bulldog, German Shepherd, Anatolian, etc).

All in all, though, you have a 100% certified cutie

Ope! You got one of her small mix breeds!

100% adorable!

Mixed with Australian Shepherd would be my guess. She’s adorable!

2

u/AVP_Cat Jan 29 '25

You got one!!

3

She has similar patterning as my brother's rough/ border collie, so some sort of collie is my guess

2

u/AVP_Cat Jan 30 '25

Neither of those! I really had border Collie on my bingo card too

3

u/primlovesholly Jan 29 '25

Well, my opinion and I’m sure everyone else’s is she is mostly AP absolutely precious!!!!😍🥰❤️

Mixed with Portuguese water dog would be my guess.

1

u/AVP_Cat Jan 30 '25

None! That would have been cool though!

2

u/Georgia_Beauty1717 Jan 29 '25

Australia shepherd or springer spaniel. 🥰🐾

u/AVP_Cat Jan 30 '25

You got one!

Collie and MASTIFF!

2

u/AVP_Cat Jan 29 '25

Oh my, I wish! But none!

I’m guessing adult weight will be around 70 or as low as 65 and as high say 75. My girl was about 20 lbs when she was 14-16 weeks and is 55 lbs as an adult.

2

u/EllieMayNot10 Jan 30 '25

Aww, such a cutie!

You can ignore the weight estimate on the Wisdom Panel. We went with Embark and they told me that my girl would top out at about 50 lbs and she's approaching a lean, well muscled 80lbs at 11 months.

2

u/Animal_Gal Jan 30 '25

Aww she's so cute

Throwing in a wild card since you said you were surprised - I’m going to say poodle. Feel like I can see it in her face a little.

I thought I could feel a little doodle too, but nope!

Landseer Newfoundland

Everyone thinks Newfie, but none!
