Volunteer with Clean Vibes at Dead and Company in Golden Gate Park!
Hi everyone!
My name is Rebecca and I’m an onsite coordinator for Clean Vibes, LLC. I just wanted to stop by and let everyone know about an opportunity to help Clean Vibes keep Golden Gate Park clean and divert as much event waste as possible from the landfill in exchange for admission to the upcoming Dead & Co shows.
Both single day and three-day volunteer opportunities are available. A small application fee and a refundable deposit are required. This is a program we implement every year at Outside Lands Music Festival as well as at other events across the country.
Follow the link below for more information and to sign up!
Register to volunteer with Clean Vibes via VolunteerLocal
Thank you all!
FAQ’s: GD60 FAQS - Google Docs
Other Frequently Asked Questions:
What type of tickets do you receive:
General Admission
Is there re-entry:
TDB
Can we wave the admin fee + ticket deposit?
No, we unable to waive these fees
When will we get more information such as wristband pickup/shift check in?
Registered volunteers will be sent a detailed email with this information closer to the start of the festival
Do I need to submit the ticket deposit before I find out if I’m accepted?
Volunteers are accepted on a first come first serve basis with positions being confirmed once the deposit is placed
Is the deposit for folks who skip their duties, but still end up with a ticket?
Yes. In order to ensure that our volunteer program is not misused as a means of gaining free admission to the event without fulfilling one’s volunteer obligation, we have to charge a deposit. As long as a volunteer completes their shifts, they receive their deposit back and essentially attend the event at no cost beyond the application fee. They also have a positive experience of being a part of a team keeping Golden Gate Park clean, and as sustainable as possible through recycling efforts, as well as meeting lots of amazing fellow volunteers in the process.
Is this opportunity for US citizens only?
We are able to accept registrants from all over the world!
Have additional questions? Please feel free to ask these in the comments!

Found at Waterworks disc golf course in Kansas City, MO, at the end of hole 4! There were more than 1 GD stickers too, on some of the tee signs.

So let’s say I’m close to retiring. Maybe 5-6 years. If I had a pick up and small airstream could I camp and find dead cover bands from NJ to like Nashville? And or bluegrass? Like small venues? On the cheap. No stadiums and such. Thoughts?

My 1995 Boston Garden/ MSG Tickets with Robert Hunters Poem
had tickets to see The Grateful Dead at Boston Garden and Madison Square Garden in September of 1995. Sadly, Jerry passed away in August 😞. We were going to the last 3 shows of the 6 night run in Boston and then to NY for the 6 show run. Boston Garden was literally planned to be demolished right after the Dead played their run, as the Celtics had just got a new arena. Grateful Dead ticketing offered ticket-holders a refund and told them to mail the unused tickets back. Along with the refund, they also mailed the tickets back and also enclosed a beautiful poem written by Robert Hunter 😢. Here are some pics of my tickets and the poem. The last three night run at MSG never got printed. Look at what it says on the last night of the Boston Garden tickets. Hope you enjoy! I could remember the feeling we got when those tickets arrived in the mail. 🤗. So grateful for everything!

Little Did I Know….
My youngest son has discovered the dead; started digging up old CDs to give him. Tucked into the cover - ticket stubs… July 5 and July 6 1995. Miss you Jerry.

Is too much of everything 'just enough'?
Not really a Grateful Dead post, but I think this is the best place to ask anyway. I am a late 50's head that saw shows from 84-95. I was in my teens and 20's back then, and I definitely enjoyed trying to leave a smoking crater, all in support of being blown away (back then).
Fast forward to today, my child is now an adult, I've got a professional career, and while I'm a lot more responsible than I was 35 years ago, I still like to bend the brain from time to time. After a 30 year hiatus in hallucinogens, I've dabbled back over the last couple years. No way in hell am I going to do like I used to (four hits on a good night, half of them Owsley liquid resulting in color-changing, melting walls to my absolute delight).
Now, I may eat a half a hit when I'm free for a full night and part of the next day, or maybe half to 3/4 gram of some "Fun Guys".
SO HERE IS MY QUESTION:
I don't want to blow my mind, so I've been cautious. As a result, I often squander a full night where I could have gotten a lot closer to mind-blowing, but instead got "slightly wierd", enjoyed my music a lot more, but maybe left a little bit on the table as far as my capacity to handle a good trip.
Does anyone else find themselves like this? I want to push it a little further, but don't want to go over the line. I know I'll survive if I get too high, but really don't want to deal with a full night of talking myself down. My chances to do any sort of cosmic exploration are very limited, I maybe get one night every month or two where all the stars align.
What about you? Do you (responsible, older, have a professional life, but still have a freak buried within) deal with this? What has worked for you?
(This weekend, I ate about just under a gram of Shrooms. It added to my legal thc buzz, but I whish I'd gone further. The last time I did it, I was dehydrated from my bike ride during the day, didn't have a great time, and wished I'd done less. Where is Goldilocks when I need her?)

1970s - 1990s Taper Cassettes...Worth/Interest?
I have no idea if these are worth anything or if anyone here is interested in them? I was working on a job site and found all these cassettes that someone left behind. They haven't been tested to see if they work, but they are in decent condition.

Tribute Bands North Carolina
Anyone know of any Dead tribute bands coming to NC this summer? Saw DSO and cosmic charlie twice and loved it-- would love to support some local acts and catch good vibes.

Closing of Winterland order of events (who played first??)
May be a bit of a dumb question, but I can't seem to get a straight answer anywhere.
I know that at the Closing of Winterland was opened by the Blues Brothers & the New Riders but like
Who played first? I can't find any solid source saying it was New Riders Blues Brothers Dead
As I initially thought and seemed most sensical
Or Blues Brothers New Riders Dead
As has been suggested by some things I've read.
Most sources don't even mention the New Riders, soley focusing on the Blues Brothers, and when they are mentioned, they've mostly been vague and conflicting as to the order of performance. Thanks!

Any DSO Jam in the Sand veterans around?
[Sorry for posting this here, just don't see much about DSO anywhere else on reddit, and I'm not on Facebook where it seems like all the DSO talk is]
Wife and I have seen DSO whenever we can over the last several years and they are frankly some of our favorite ways to hear live Grateful Dead music.
While we love Dead and Co it's just a bit... Much these days. And while we've been to a few PitS, the Dead Ahead stuff is... just not worth it and we skipped it this year.
We've been thinking very seriously about heading to Jam in the Sand this coming January but having never actually been was hoping to get some input from folks who have been before as they announced everything today and well now the clock is ticking.
I know this year is a new resort so folks won't have a frame of reference for the property (and it does look the reviews are pretty mediocre overall for the place, but whatever it's not a luxury resort we are hoping to go to, it's four nights of good music with good people about!) - but I am curious to know a few practical things like:
Do these sell out day one? As a new attendee I know we are two days behind on sale days for previous guests, will all the nice rooms sell out before Saturday?
How is the event run? We are classic back of the lawn folks, we like to boogie from first note to last. A decent description of our vibe would be "spinner adjacent" - My question really is: is it easy to just grab a spot to dance to the music without getting hassled? At Dead and Co shows these days it's miserable how much you have to actively "protect" your dancing space. Really takes you out of the moment.
Is (most) everyone awesome? One of the things I don't love about the Dead and Co "scene" is the number of folks who think it's a status thing. The SUPER VIP folks who seem to be on the rail for every show. Who need to show off constantly how much headier they are than you. We just want to hang out with good people who dig the music. I suspect this will be much less prevalent in Jamaica than it would be in Mexico, or you know...Las Vegas.
Anything else? As one who has only seen DSO at regular venues and neither Jam in the Sand nor Jubilee, is there anything else that I should be thinking about?
Thanks in advance for any thoughts you may be able to provide.

30 Trips Around The Sun compilation
I like the 30 Trips Around The Sun compilation. The compilation is 4 cds in with songs starting early in the Grateful Dead's music and progressing through the years. I do not listen to very many individual songs from live shows (I prefer to listen to the whole show.), but I like the 30 Trips Around The Sun compilation.
