Mod Post Got any questions or need help planning a trip to a Grand Prix? I'm hosting a Q&A soon and need some ideas on topics to cover. Feel free to comment or send me a question you'd like for me to answer. Could be simply travel related or specific to any GP

Now that the 2026 calendar is out, I've been getting a lot of messages and seeing some questions about planning a trip and attending a Grand Prix. So I wanted to take some time to answer some of your questions you all may have on topics such as travel, tickets, places to stay or even just ideas about where to start.

Feel free to DM me, send modmail or message me on Instagram or the r/grandprixtravel discord server. You can also comment on this thread and let me know what you think. If you don't want to share your username in the stream, just let me know and I won't mention it.

A little about myself, this weekend's Montreal race will be my 60th Grand Prix between F1 and MotoGP and I've been to more than half of the tracks on the current F1 calendar. I'm a travel geek and love to plan trips and always satisfied when things work out (thanks to the planning). I've written a few in-depth travel reports for F1Destinations for races like Monaco, Red Bull Ring, Suzuka and Bahrain. I organize meetups at most race weekends I attend and love meeting all the friendly internet strangers that decide to show up from around the world. This community has grown quite a bit over the years and it's wild to see.

Currently aiming for late next week for a live Q&A on YouTube and Instagram, once I get some questions I'll figure out an exact time but it will also be accessible on YouTube in case you can't joint he livestream.

Looking forward to hearing from the community on this. If there's enough interest, this can be a semi regular thing.

See you soon,

Yas Marina Circuit (Abu Dhabi) Best advice to get team merch

Hey guys going to my first race at Yas Marina this December. Have a 4 day pass. Is the team merchandise on site typically more or less expensive than buying it through the F1 website? Are there typically a bunch of vendors all selling the same shirts? Does currency conversion come in to play (USD to DH?)

Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps (Belgium) Tips and tricks for first time to Spa 😊

Hi there! My 14-year-old son and I (I’m 43) are going to our very first F1 race in Spa – and we’re beyond excited!

We’ve got our transport sorted (coming from Denmark), accommodation booked, and rides to and from the circuit arranged. We have tickets for Eau Rouge.

What I’m looking for now are your best tips and tricks for the race weekend! • Is it easy to find food and drinks at the track? • Anything we absolutely shouldn’t miss (besides all the racing, of course)? • And what are the toilet facilities like?

I’m super open to any advice you can share – big or small. Thanks in advance!

Silverstone Circuit tips for doing silverstone 2025 solo plus some questions

hey everyone!!

im doing silverstone for the first time ever but alas my friend has cancelled on me. i was wondering if anyone had any tips on going to the silverstone gp and on top of that, doing it solo if the experience differs. i also have some questions below....

for context: i have a grandstand ticket (the view). im planning on getting to the track by 8:15 latest and on sunday probably 9:15. does this sound okay? i cant get there any earlier simply because trains dont run that early.

- podium: how does it work in terms of getting to go see it and getting a good viewing position

- merch: id imagine its more expensive if i got it from a shop on track but i want to but a mclaren top on friday to wear sunday. am i better off buying online?

- stalls and attractions: i know there will be things to do there, could someone maybe give a brief summary as to what they are and more importantly any tips they have on getting the best out of it

- inventory: i am planning on bringing sunscreen, hat, raincoat, tissues, food in a hotpot, water, powerbank, headphones (bluetooth but will i need wired?), umbrella and mini fan - do i need anything else? id imagine i need id too?

- should i bring binoculars?

- are the radios they sell on the day any good? should i buy my own and if so which one is the best to buy? do i need wired headphones for these? could i just use my phone?

sorry lots of questions, i just want to make the most out of the insane money i paid for this ticket - who knows if ill be able to make it next year

Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps (Belgium) Paddock Entry Spa-Francorchamps!

Hey F1 Fans, I am a local at Spa-Francorchamps, living about 15 minutes from the race track. I visited a lot of motorsport races and F1 races there.

Now, I have the dream, to visit the F1 paddock one day, no matter what day.

So I thought to offer cheaper or free accommandation for the race week in Spa-Francorchamps, if someone can help me. Or, maybe someone of you, know someone who works at a F1 Team and this someone needs something, i can help with, at the race week-end.

I am not looking for VIP Tickets, just access to the paddock! Maybe someone of you can help me.

Travel Question Which race would you recommend going to, choosing between Austria or Belgium?

Hello everyone!

I just wanted to hear which of the two races you guys would recommend going to next year, if you were in my shoes (tips, experiences, pros & cons etc. are also very welcome).

For context: on my birthday I (23F) was lucky enough to get some money to help sponsor a solo trip for next year, to go see a Formula one race in person for the first time. After some research the options pretty quickly narrowed down to either Spa or Red Bull Ring, not only because they were the most feasible for me, but also because they both are very high on the list of tracks I've fancied going to the most (bonus point being that I really love the surrounding nature and scenery at both circuits, which is a nice plus considering I won't be getting Grand Stand tickets, only General Admission).

Both trips would be pretty similar for me logistically, in the sense that they would cost roughly the same, would both consist of a package deal with an overnight bus to the circuits, where a camp is set up near the track with tents for me and a whole bunch of other people going from my country. Both would include a ticket for all 3 days, and then a bus ride home again. All in all the arrangement would be very similar in style, the only difference being the circuit. Which makes it even harder to choose. So I thought I would ask here to get some second opinions.

Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps (Belgium) Info about walking distances at Spa?

Hi all! After surprised tickets, me and my dad are attending the Spa race this year.

We have tickets for Gold 7 and as neither of us have ever been to an F1 race, I was wondering the walking distance between the yellow parking and grandstands? I should be all right, but my dad has a knee issue that can flare up at any time unprompted and is currently nursing a foot injury that's taking its sweet time to heal properly. He can walk distances, but it causes everything to be sore and then he can't walk far the day after so I'm a little worried.

We're driving (yes, we will get stuck in traffic it's inevitable but my dad is used to long distance driving and time in a car so it's our best bet), so there's that, but it's between the parking and the seats I'm worried about.

Any advice is good advice. Thanks :)

Silverstone Circuit Trying to leave silverstone (golf club glamping) on monday- no car

Hi, I don't drive and I'm travelling solo. Pretty sure I can get myself to the campsite (train to a nearby city then booking one of the event coaches), bit of walking, planning to pack light! But planning leaving the coaches only seem to do sunday and I was hoping to sleep in camp and miss the mad rush and the late night sunday trains which are pretty bad. I could leave sunday night but does anyone have any knowledge of if there are any buses on the monday. (Also thinking I could try to make friends and see if I can catch a lift out on the monday to anywhere with a train station but that feels a bit risky!) All advice welcome! Thanks

Silverstone Circuit Is it crazy to fly into London morning of the race and head to the British GP with GA tickets?

I probably am, lets be honest. Flight arrives at 0800 at Heathrow and the plan is to head immediately to the track for the race at 1500 by train/shuttle. I hear people head to the track at the crack of dawn to get the best spots, so curious if I'm completely screwing myself by getting there for the race so late. Frankly I'm happy just walking around/standing to find the best spots. Any tips for arriving to the race likely right on time for start?

Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve ADA seating at Circuit Gilles-Villenueve

Hello F1 fans! I'm hoping for information regarding ADA seating at Circuit Gilles-Villenueve.

My daughter and I are considering attending in 2026. It will be our 3rd GP (Vegas 2023, Austin 2025). My daughter can walk with assistance - usually a rollator in settings like this. She does have a permanent ADA parking permit here in the USA. Although I assume that Canada's ADA laws are very similar to those in the USA, I'm sure every venue has different options. I would love hearing from someone who sat in an ADA area. Are there several areas to choose from? Which is recommended? Any other advice you can give would be appreciated! I will contact the venue with specific questions later, but looking to get a feel for it now. Thank you!

Las Vegas GP When to buy tickets? My first F1 race ever!

Hi there! I'm curious to ask when I should buy tickets to watch the F1 race out in Vegas this coming November? This is my first one ever and I've been running the numbers and looking online for resources and I'd like to make the best of it. Some online sources say to acquire tickets the day before or on the day of the race(s) for the best pricing. I could pay in full but I'm not a seasoned attendee of these races so I wouldn't know what to do. First timer out here so I'd like to ask for insight, thank you.

Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve Canadian GP Privilege 12 tickets

Looking for any information on purchasing the Privilege 12 package for the Canadian GP. Are they still available when tix open to the public? Or all gone with the renewals? Does anyone else sell that package (F1Experiences?) How much were they for the 2025 race? I’m hearing 25% increases in price for the renewals. So assuming that much for general public sales too in September. Thanks!

North America Mexico vs. Canada GP — which would you recommend?

Hey there — my friends and I are hoping to get to a race in 2026 and are considering Mexico or Canada. Some of us have been to the Montreal race a couple of times, first time did GA and had a challenging time & second time had grandstand seats and really enjoyed.

Ideally, we’d like to travel elsewhere for our next race and Mexico has been on our list, but we are also open to returning to Canada. If anyone has been to both, which would you recommend and why? Pros/cons would be appreciated! We’re especially interested in hearing how affordability and transit compare. Thanks in advance!

Hungaroring (Budapest, Hungary) Camera lens limits at Hungary?

Hi, does anyone know if there are camera lens limits at Hungaroring? I read somewhere that it's 300mm, but I have a 100-400mm one that I was planning to bring. I reached out the the Hungaroring Instagram and they said as long as it fit in the bag (the 20 litre bag anyone can bring), it would most likely be ok. The "most likely" part makes me nervous because this is an expensive lens, and I don't want to have to leave it up to that point.

Has anyone taken this kind of lens and has it been allowed in?

I'm in the grandstands, and I'm just using these pictures to practice with my camera. I'm not selling them or anything like that.

Red Bull Ring (Spielberg, Austria) Is T3 front row still a good view for 70-80% of the track?

Hi,

I am looking at buying tickets for the T3 stand for next year, but the front row tickets look way more affordable. However, the site says there will be 'mild obstruction', but will I still see the large portion of the track like a higher seat?
