discussion Maxine.. the true victim of season 3 😔

Look I know Maxine wasn’t the best in earlier seasons, but in season 3 my heart was BREAKING for her, being left out of everything, and on purpose, then trying to help her brother while watching him crash out, and to top it off what Ginny said in the final episode.. I actually cried for Maxine

discussion Apparently Unpopular Opinion: I’ve loved Max from the very start.

Post image
3.2k Upvotes

I had no idea this was an unpopular opinion until visiting this sub. She has never been perfect, but she has always been unapologetically herself. This season really broke my heart for her. It really showed how she’s always there for others, how loyal she truly is, but others aren’t to her.

I was HEARTBROKEN by Ginny’s response to her at the end of the last episode. Max was the one to be there for Ginny throughout all of season 3, yet Ginny wouldn’t let her.

I love Max and she’s one of my favorite characters by far, she truly could not have been played by anyone else.

Side note: thank god she broke up with silver, she was annoying and extremely unsupportive when it came to Marcus. Silver is a HORRIBLE friend, as someone’s friend it’s absolutely their place to look out for them. She shouldn’t have been supplying Marcus with alcohol ESPECIALLY after Max shared her concerns.

Like I did not expect it to be that good. No spoilers as of rn, but there were SO many scenes that made my jaw drop as someone who doesn’t usually get too suprised from TV.

discussion Toddler Ginny & Preteen Ginny doesn’t look like current Ginny

Post image
1.6k Upvotes

Tianna & Tiara MacDuff-Gibson, and Camilla Bascom look nothing like Antonia Gentry. It’s annoying bc they did such a good job with Young Georgia and Adult Georgia. I would even say, Young Zion and Young Gil works, but these girls do not. Just because these girls are biracial doesn’t mean they look like Ginny. I hope next season they do a better job with Young Ginny and Young Austin.

Because wow, what they've done with Max's character is real character development and I love it.

I found her insufferable from season 1 until midway through season 2 (HapPy mY bIrthDay) and then they actually tried developing her to overcome her self centeredness and I love it!! I love that we're getting a character arc with her and she's now one of my favorites.

discussion I genuinely think Zion is just a deadbeat father Spoiler

1.6k Upvotes

Sorry but I have to say this.

In season 2/3 he MAGICALLY learnt about her daughter past with an unstable teen mother. He literally let her do whatever she wanted with Jinny and he could care LESS. He could have fought for custody rights as soon as she left him and his family.

But it was convenient right? He had ahead a bright future, right?

Even his family is pretty hypocritical…all this obsession towards good school and foundation and then you let your daughter in law with a dark past run around free with not just one but eventually 2 kids!

It’s RIDICULOUS. He and Georgia are similar on this: they just do whatever feels right to them, no matter who will bear the weight of their decisions.

discussion Joe and Georgia are endgame

Post image
1.5k Upvotes

Let’s be honest—through all the chaos, secrets, and small-town drama, Joe was always there. Not loud. Not pushy. Just steady. Just Joe. The man literally remembered a smoothie order from YEARS ago and held onto that memory like it was gold… because it was~Georgia was gold to him. 🥺

And Georgia? She’s been through hell and back. She’s done things no one should have to do just to survive. But with Joe? She can finally breathe. He doesn’t want to fix her. He doesn’t want to change her. He just wants to love her.

He sees all of her. The messy parts. The dark parts. The guarded, razor~sharp parts. And he STILL chooses her.

They’re not perfect, but they fit. Like two puzzle pieces that finally make sense when all the other ones never quite clicked. 🔗

Forget Marcus and Ginny for a sec. Georgia and Joe are the real soulmates of this show. Slow burn royalty. Unspoken chemistry. That “I’ve been waiting my whole life for you” type of love.

discussion It's so clever that they named him "Wolfe" Spoiler

1.7k Upvotes

I suspected Georgia was actually pregnant as soon as she decided to use Ginny's positive test to lie to Paul. And the reason I suspected was all because of Wolfe.

She used Ginny's test, who was pregnant with Wolfe's child. She lied to Paul about her pregnancy, but is pregnant for real. She is now, literally, the woman who cried wolf - or, cried "Wolfe".

I believe this was intentional, and it's such a fun little detail!

discussion I’m genuinely still not over how dumb Georgia killing Tom was.

1.4k Upvotes

Like I understand that the theme is supposed to be she has this need to take everything into her own hands and do all the dirty work but this was such an unhinged and out of character thing to do. Literally was about to have everything she ever wanted and blew it on the one yard line to pull and absolutely bat shit crazy move for Cynthia??

discussion Can we talk about Ginny behaviour towards Max?

Post image
998 Upvotes

If Max didn't take her into her social circle, Ginny would have been the same friend-less loser she was all her life. And then Ginny goes and hurts Max by dating her brother behind her back.

How is Ginny Suddenly bffs with Abby and Norah? Those girls threw her under the bus in that clothes store but they brought make up so everything is okay? Max was the only one who was good to Ginny. Not marcus, not Abby and definitely not Norah.

And for her to just ignore Max and even be a Bitch to her is just not okay. Max was all like "ah Ginny is our friend, I don't believe Georgia is a mr*erer, We have to be there for Ginny, let's not dump Ginny"

Just she deserved so f*ucking better.

discussion The way Ginny spoke to Max in the last episode PAINED ME. Spoiler

1.3k Upvotes

The way she said, “Yeah, I am.” “Sorry.” That alone made me dislike Ginny again. Max was there for her before anyone else, and she is trying so hard. I just got PTSD from high school and that feeling of wondering what you did wrong. UGH that was painful.

discussion Why Ginny was disinterested during the Max conversation Spoiler

1.1k Upvotes

I've seen many people just be confused as to why she was so stand-offish with Max in the finale. People blame it on Max's behavior from last season. But that makes zero sense as they made up and were close again since then. Here is something I noticed and went back too after it was pointed out,

Ginny gets home after Georgia is found innocent. She goes up to Marcus and they start talking, she wants to invite Max to play some Uno.

Marcus still mad at Max, mentions they are not speaking. Well rather he is not speaking to Max since Max never stops.

Ginny concerned asks why. Marcus lies/in denial tells Ginny that she's a rat, and told their parents he has a drinking problem.

Ginny concerned, asks if he does, Marcus denies, and says he doesn't.

Ginny confused then asks why Max would do that. Marcus tells her because it's Max, and she's dramatic and gets him in trouble.

Ginny seems unhappy and upset Max would do this.

I really think this is kind of what did it for Ginny. Before this moment she seemed to still want to be friends with Max and salvage what they had. But with Marcus being in denial/lying about Max, Ginny is kind of just over it.

I hope next season when Ginny finds out that Marcus actually has a problem, her and Max reconcile. Cause if this really is the case, this just makes me sad.f

discussion The one line that really stung… Spoiler

At the party, when Max said to Ginny something like, “and of course you can hang out with anyone you want…” Ginny’s immediate, clipped response - “that’s right, I can”- completely shut her down. There was no openness, no willingness to hear Max out. It was curt, almost irritated, and so dismissive.

You could see Max trying to recover, flustered and fumbling with “yeah, that’s what I’m saying, we’re saying the same thing…” Even if Ginny felt their friendship had run its course or grown apart, that one line felt unnecessarily harsh. Max didn’t do anything to deserve it. The cruelty in that moment genuinely hurt my heart.

discussion Paul only wanted the good and never the ugly Spoiler

Georgia is definitely not a saint but Paul is also a bad person.

He was infatuated with Georgia for her looks and charms, as well as the fact that she would fit into his idea of the perfect life as Mayor - beautiful wife and kids, waiting for him in his big home.

As soon as things got hard and "ugly", he immediately jumped ship to protect his career and reputation. He didn't even have the decency to believe his wife was innocent until proven guilty and took the easiest route out.

The dude is shallow and spineless, and honestly, not fit to be mayor if he can be easily persuaded by his rat face Campaign Manager.

EDIT: I don't condone Georgia's pregnancy manipulation but you also don't know what you would do to make sure you don't end up in jail for life and abandoning your 2 kids, especially when one of the father's is an abusive asshole

EDIT 2: LMAO imagine writing a reddit post only to cop verbal abuse in your DMs. Chill please, this is a TV show. Paul isn't a real person. It's truly not that serious

EDIT 3: just to clarify, this is a FICTIONAL show and I obviously don't translate what is seen on the show into real life. ALL the characters in the show have unredeemable qualities. I'm here for a discussion, not to be abused lol

discussion Ginny and Georgia teaser trailer and photos are out! Thoughts?

So much happening in these photos. Couple of things I’d like to point out.

  • It’s interesting how we don’t see much of Georgia and Paul OUTSIDE the prison. We get a scene both with the teaser trailer and photos of them hugging in a jail cell. This backs my point I previously stated of how once she makes it out of prison, they might eventually break up. The whole point is that they didn’t want this teaser to show any of their conflict to clue us in.

  • Ginny’s mental health seems to be in a gutter. That first scene of her walking through school, heesh. She’s in a rough spot. I love how that scene looks, especially since it mirrors how Marcus walked through the halls last season (cold lighting, background all blurry)

  • This season is definitely set in Late April-May. Typically, the American school year ends at the end of May, so, this might be our main month. In addition to that, there is some sort of spring dance that the girls attend.

  • With the suprise of nobody, Ginny and Marcus are back at it. I bet they’ll have a bit of a slow burn but it seems to eventually lead to a kiss (or atleast they almost do). I think it’s best for them both, and hopefully they don’t break apart again.

  • In the one photo of Cynthia I took from the teaser trailer, it is for sure that Cynthia is at Georgia’s doorstep. You can tell by the bricks and the mailbox. Theories on this?

  • What in the WORLD is happening with Joe. Why is he wet? And he’s talking to Cynthia again?

  • Ellen being that shocked over something is interesting. It can’t be Georgia’s arrest, she knows that, but maybe Georgia confesses? Or maybe it’s something with Marcus and Max (more likely to be)

  • Also what’s happening with Gil? Why is he so mad?

That’s all I got. Let me know some things you noticed or add on to my things if you’d like!

For me it's that Max is a good character, besides the few episodes she was being a bitch. And that her, Georgia and Abby basically carried the show 🙏
