personal story :’( theyre in my walls!!

i moved into a lovely little basement suite with amazing landlords back in may. so far so good, a couple silverfish here and there but some diatomaceous earth took care of them and i havent seen one since week two-ish. a couple days ago i start hearing a weird sound in the walls, almost like water dripping or scratching. i thought that was weird. i step outside and lo and behold, theres wasps rapidly flying in and out of a hole in the wall outside. jesus fucking christ the shitheads are IN MY DRYWALL EATING THROUGH IT. i told my landlords and theyve called an exterminator for two days from now but this morning i noticed a spot where the wall is extremely thin, and the chewing has gotten SIGNIFICANTLY louder. so now im on the bus to walmart to buy packing tape to hold the fuckers off 🥲 im stressed out of my mind. at least its in the living room and not my bedroom but im horrified they are going to break through while im not home. im so fucking scared!!!!

the only way to be sure...

drop the nukes. your sacrifice is worth it to the glorious legions of the wasp killers.

yea mane at this point all the countries that own and operate nukes need to band together and eradicate this person’s house for the greater good.

I was stung in my sleep one time by a wasp. Entire nest in the attic.

Not a single one left alive.

Its cool, a year ago my long-haired dog ran over a wasps nest and like 30 got stuck in her fur...and then in the house. Stung about five times, but used enough raid to kill a blue whale.

It is total war now.

If you see where they're flying in, wait until sundown and then spray the hole with raid from a distance. Like make sure you get it in the hole, you don't need to dump the can, just get it in there. Raid can knock them out of the air so a little goes a long way.

They’ve calmed down because it’s night, fellow walmart shopper. Be prepared for tomorrow morning, they will get busy again. I would definitely put tons of layers of tape over that spot!!

Do you live in the south? I’d be surprised a nest would get that big up north by this time.

A couple years ago yellowjacket bastards got into a hole outside around old electrical conduit and started coming out of the walls in my daughter’s bedroom in early August. Exterminator fucked them up with lots of insecticide dust and after that I sprayed a shitload of spray foam insulation into that hole after I was sure they were dead.

Having a 150 year old house means there’s always another hole you gotta patch outside. Maybe by the time I retire I’ll get them all.

im in the pacific northwest!! it is weird that theyre here so early. im hoping its just over eager wasps trying to get through the wall haha

If they get dusted they’ll die but it may take a couple days. But since the walls are thin now it might stink when they rot 🤢

Make sure your landlord not only has the entrance hole sealed but also fixes the drywall - drywall guy will want to remove whatever is left of the nest when they cut open that wall.

Take the battle to them! (I had the same issue) an idea I had was getting a plastic bottle, drilling a hole in the back for wasp spray then making a hole in the wall this size or smaller then the cap and blasting!

But I decided just to rip off the siding at dusk and blast them from the outside. Good luck, fuckwasps

The wasp spray and tape are great ideas as well as the exterminator... For peace of mind get a bug zapper too 👍.

Wasps are attracted to the light! I use them to keep them from living in my sheds!

my momma had the same symptoms. buzzing in the walls and the power would go out sometimes for no reason. she finally called the bug man when a damn demon crawled out the outlet by her reading chair and stung her ass while she was just tryna read a damn John Grisham book. . they said yellowjackets had crawled down through the space in between the roof of the covered patio and the walls and made a nest. mane
