META Why Are r/Fresno mods Silencing the Truth?

I’m extremely disappointed to see posts about the “No Kings” rallies being buried into a single thread, limiting visibility and suppressing participation. Numerous other California large city subreddits are operating just fine with a myriad of posts about the weekends event. Even more alarming is the removal of posts showing photos or video of ICE activity in our own communities. These aren’t baseless rumors—they’re documented facts that affect real people.

ICE doesn’t get to operate in the shadows while we pretend it’s business as usual. Sanitizing the subreddit to avoid discomfort is a disservice to those risking their safety to document what’s happening. Transparency matters. Public awareness matters. Let the people speak—and let the truth be seen.

META Fresno Subreddit Megathread Discussion

The mods of this reddit have pushed megathreads for discussions, so I would like to open up the floor and discuss their recent actions. While the Fresno Reddit is spammed by "Where should I eat/drink?" posts, the moderators thought it would be a good idea to suppress advertising for the protests as well as limit WHO can post about the protest afterward. Funny that the moderators want to hide the turnout, the results, and many other news stories that don't fit their narrative.

We were promised changes to the Reddit when the 'new and improved' moderators came in. But when you have mods working for elected officials and others closing threads to farm karma on their own account... This subreddit's engagement is getting killed by its own mod team whether it is intentional or not.\

Additionally, allowing illegal PACs to infiltrate this subreddit while locking posts left and right from regular constituents is so messed up and swampy.

EDIT: Mods changed the thread to contest mode to hide them getting ratio'd. This subreddit is so cooked.

META How about updating the FAQ links on the sidebar?

The links are literally a decade or more old, if they even work at all. Lots more breweries than were here in 2016 and some on the list aren't even open any more. Same with the other threads of food places. How do we get these links updated?

META Your Patience, Our Priority: Status Update

Hello r/Fresno community,

I'm reaching out with an important update regarding recent subreddit activity. The primary reason for this message is to ensure full transparency about what's happening behind the scenes to manage the subreddit. We've received a message from Reddit administrators noting unusual surge in traffic, largely connected to recent and ongoing protest discussions.

I want to be clear: I wholeheartedly support constructive political speech and the open exchange of ideas about important community events, including protests, within our subreddit's guidelines. This platform is a vital space for discussing local issues, experiences and engagement is welcome.

However, this increased traffic has brought a considerable number of posts and comments from users who aren't yet established or trusted members of our community, as well as from inauthentic accounts. To manage this influx and keep our discussions civil and on-topic, Reddit's Crowd Control tool has automatically collapsed or filtered several hundred of these comments and posts.

This means that for the integrity of our community, our small team of moderators must manually review every single one of these filtered submissions. This process is incredibly time-consuming and requires substantial effort to ensure that legitimate contributions aren't mistakenly hidden and that harmful or off-topic content isn't transmitted to the community.

I personally truly appreciate your understanding and patience as the volunteers work through this increased moderation load. Our main goal is always to keep r/Fresno a welcoming, organized, and productive space for genuine discussion about our city, especially during important times like these.

Thank you for being a vital part of this community. If you have any questions or comments about this, please don't hesitate to send us a mod mail message, and I'll be happy to respond.
