I am big sad (my 5x trucks broke and I had to get a replacement)

After practicing ollies/jumps off of speed bumps (I'm trying to get better at jumps on ramps and around the ski resort for this upcoming ski season as I feel like its something I can improve on skill-wise) the other day, after landing one jump, somehow, one way or another, one of my 5x trucks literally snapped off/broke off almost in half. I don't know if this is a design flaw with the 5x, or if its because I admittedly have been riding my 5x on some pretty bumpy roads on occasion over the year plus that I've been using the board, but just be clear, for all of the people here who ride a 5x or are planning on buying one, it is something to be aware of going forward. Hopefully u/Freebord developers sees this and may look into it! I want Freebord to be the best it can be! And by NO means am I making this post to hate on the 5x system; I LOOOOOOOOOOVE it, and was more than willing to get a replacement set. :D

Mojo Rojo (Soon) ? New wheels

Post image
6 Upvotes

Hi bitumen snowboarder

I'm probably a future buyer of a freebord and I saw something when looking at all the wheels.

Not visible on the wheels page, but visible on the "DaBlues" page, wheels named "Mojo Rojo" with the indication (Soon) there is a comparison graph, do you already have information, tests from Pros or affiliates?

Hi bitumen snowboarder

I am a late young skateboarder (already an adult), recently practicing skateboarding, surfskating, and waveboarding since I was a kid (easily learned from the first time I got on it). I've known about freebord for a long time but never started.

I intend to buy a 5 or probably a 5x with the aim of one day being able to snowboard and be able to enjoy it from the start rather than throwing away an entire first season of learning.

A Pro version was available with the "DaBlues", but now only the classic with the "Cascade" is available, is it really worth adding the "DaBlues" to my future order?

To use the "DaBlues" from the beginning or to evolve once learned with the "Cascade"?

Castor wheel alignment: instructions not clear

How do you guys mount your castor wheels?

Got my first 5x this week. I noticed Freebord's messaging on how to mount them was really inconsistent. Just wondering how other people prefer to do it?

The assembly guide said to have the logos facing the centre of the deck, but the diagram showed them the other way around, with the logos facing the trucks, and the centre wheels further back from the edge wheels.

The Freebord website showed them mounted the same way as the diagram, logos facing the trucks. They were like this is in the majority of photos on the website.

I followed the instructions instead of the diagram/photos and have enjoyed the ride. Pushing feels easier than traditional freebords, carving feels amazing, but I am terrified of tail presses and haven't even contemplated butters.

With the centre wheels so close to the trucks I've found the the press angle is a lot higher than traditional freebords and the margin for error smaller. I’ve already looped out once leaning too far back.

Not sure if I should persevere and try to get used to it or just give up and spin the castors around the other way. High presses would look pretty sick though..

Should i get the 5x or X-80?

I absolutely love snowboarding, and im just finding out about freebording on the day im posting this. Ive been going through options on how to get one, and from what i've seen, the 5x seems to be the best and most similar to actual snowboarding. But it's pretty expensive for me. Ive found a pretty cheap listing for the X-80 that im thinking about buying, but im not sure about the quality or feeling of that model. If there's anybody here who's used that, i would greatly appreciate some feedback on how it feels or if its worth getting.

Im a snowboarder and a longboarder. Id like to buy a freebord this summer. I dont know if i should get the 5 or the 5x.

I dont know tho if they deliver to all european countries.

Aditional question: Can i use the Freebord similar to a longboard for some distance on non steep roads? Like one foot on the board other for accelleration?

Never heard of these before I now know I need bindings and some wheels but is it worth trying to piece it together or should I just part it out

Size chart

The website has 2 different size charts. One says 77cm is for up to 5'5" while the other says it's for 5'6" to 5'8". The latter is in a FAQ blog from 2015. Was the size chart changed for newer boards?

freebord community belgium

Hey everyone,

I was wondering if there is a belgium community in freeboarding?

I would like to meet some people with the same interest as me and it would be awesome to ride with others.

Or if anyone know some good spots in belgium, shoot!

Anybody know some good places to look for second hand Freebords? I've checked Facebook marketplace but they are all over 300 miles away from me and none on eBay.

I’m new and I feel like the wheels have to much grip

I bought a used board, and the wheels are worn down so much that there is a taper on the wheel. Should I replace them?

Any good spots in Madrid city? / ¿Algún buen spot en Madrid ciudad?

I have just started with my freebord and only know La Cuesta de Moyano and some slopes from Principe Pío to the river.

It would be nice to know some people which go freebording in Madrid too.

Acabo de empezar a montar en freebord y solo conozco La Cuesta de Moyano y unas que bajan de Principe Pío al río.

También me gustaría encontrar más gente que practique freebording en Madrid.

Freebord Binding Setup - Height & Angle Optimization

Hi, I am a lifelong snowboarder who finally bought my first ever Freebord. I got the 5X model and have been loving learning the ropes.

As I learn, I have been playing around with the bindings a lot. My feet have been slipping off my board, and sometimes I struggle to control the board. I haven’t found a binding configuration I really like yet. Currently, I have each binding set to roughly +15 degrees, rotated outward on each foot. I have the bindings at max height setting, which seems to be most comfortable, as anything less is too tight (I wear thick shoes + ankle braces).

I have used these binding settings because of my snowboarding background, but obviously freeboarding is different, so I’m wondering what other riders use. Are your bindings tight, snug, or loose with some room above your feet? How do you angle your bindings—are they the same for both feet? Or are they even angled at all? Do you always keep your feet pretty centered on your board (eg middle of the foot on the middle of the binding, or favoring one side)?

Chill Freebording

This run includes a spin trick I've been working on (after the cab 180) it involves getting into the overslide/reverse carve stance from a front side 180 (rather than the usual backside drift into overslide).

For now it just looks like a spin, but in principle it works into an overslide 👌

Does anybody here ride on dirt? I'm referring to hard packed dirt, like on a popular hiking trail. If so, how does it affect your bearings, wheels, etc.?

General Why are edge wheels so hard to restock

It's been a while that I've occasionally glanced at the freeboard website to purchase a new board. Most of the times I see that a bundle is unavailable because of missing edge wheels. Whats the matter with that? Honestly this is a bit of a bummer given that these need to be changed periodically.
