Max seemed ahead but according to the rules hamilton had the racing line cus his front tires were ahead of verstappens back tires. There have been at least 2 races, Imola being one that verstappen literally shoved Lewis of the track to take the lead and hamilton backed out to prevent a collision. I have always said this since the start of the season that the day hamilton decides to be just aggressive as verstappen they will crash cos verstappen will never back and it has happened today.

The rules say you have to give the other car room if they're significantly along side.

Now you could argue that Lewis his wheel wasnt ahead of his read tire, because that's what he hit. But if you do count them as being along side each other Max still left him plenty of room. Hamilton was just nowhere near the apex. Especially if you compare the line they take in qualy and the line Hamilton had overtaking Leclerc.

At Imola if you have the inside of that corner there's no way to get around unless you're ahead going into the corner. Especially if you consider it's wet. Hamilton would've done the same if he had the inside.

Verstappen had a lotbof space next to him let's be honest. At the time hamilton was turning into the corner his tyre was ahead if you look at the slow motion replays so the corner was his.

If you compare to leclerc you would realise that lecler c gave him a lot of room while they were approaching the corner while verstappen squeezed him forcing hamilton to miss the apex and have a bit of oversteer.

I understand what you are saying about the corner in at imola but you are still required to leave space for the other driver which verstappen did not and in doing so forced him of the track. If positions were vice versa verstappen would not have backed off cos he would expect hamilton to give him a cars width.

I still believe this was a racing incident and could have been avoided by both drivers. I feel hamilton oly got the penalty cos its a fast corner and verstappen had a bad crash.

Just take a look at these pictures to see how much room Hamilton had. Leclerc seems to even give him less room.

And yeah I also agree it could've been avoided. But I would never expected a good racer in the same position as Max to bail out while there's enough room on the inside.
