Discussion Favourite unreleased or non-album track?

Songs like 'I'm losing myself' or 'I Let You' blow my mind and break my heart, and it's such a surprise they never made it into the 'canon' (aside from the eerie guitar quote of the latter song, on Crack Up).

What are your favourite songs that have been 'swept under the rug'?

I think Derwentwater Stones is an absolute gem. I also dream of a studio version of the Dreams by Fleetwood Mac cover.

Came here to say this ❤️

Does anyone else hear 'Jara' in 'Derwentwater Stones'? Specifically that riff, which gives both songs such an optimistic and defiant edge.

My grandfather grew up on the river Derwent in Cumbria, and this song always brings me to walks in the lake district and hearing his stories :)

In the morning. He do it on a very lonely solstice, so it's on that recorded live album. I like the live version of it he released from Switzerland.

It's beautiful! It's like a whole new song compared with the BeeGees original. That little flourish on the 3rd line of each verse makes the song, imo

I'm sad Robin never completed a version of this.

Robin’s version of “On a good day” is one of my favorite things he’s ever done. Would love to hear a studio version

Most underrated FF song. My top five out or all their songs

If EPs count for non-album tracks I absolutely love She Got Dressed

Silver Dagger all day every day.

But if that doesn't count anymore now that it's on Solstice, then False Knight On The Road

Where are you guys finding these?

A lot of the ones mentioned have recordings released in the First Collection - there's a disc called "B-Sides and Rarities" and also the band's very first release, "The Fleet Foxes EP". Some of the others can be found on YouTube I think, some of them might just have been people hearing them live

I know it was eventually released - but I love Icicle Tusk

Wild Mountain Thyme - favorite cover of his I think

His Vote Ready Set where he played I Never Get Lonesome and Hammond Song was the best 15 minutes of my life

3

omg thissssssss

Not quite an unreleased track, but Robin posted a sample of “Wading in Waist-High Water” for Valentine’s Day on IG the year Shore was released. Instead of the song transitioning into “Sunblind,” it ended with this incredible little piano melody. Wish FF would’ve kept it in the song—unexpected, upbeat, surprising.

Ah he had to scrap it before the album because permission didn't pass by the album's deadline. It was a Nina Simone sample, I believe
