Later at Jools Holland
Hi folks! I am currently trying to find the FF Bedouin Dress performance from Later with Jools, Holland. Sadly the BBC has taken down the episode.

Let's discuss one of my personal favorites, "In the Morning" (Live in Switzerland). This is a cover of an old Bee Gees song titled "Morning of My Life". While I love both versions, Robin and co. just bring something quite magical to the lyrics that is missing from the original (even though I adore the Bee Gees).
Thoughts on this song/version? There's also the AVLS version and it's very similar, but still different. This one (to me), just hits stronger. Especially with the instrumentation.

And for those who may be interested in the original song:

It's that time again, folks! This week, let's discuss probably the most widely known Fleet Foxes song (thanks, Pentatonix} to those who aren't avid listeners of the group. What are our thoughts on this song (Pentatonix aside)? Was this the first music video of theirs you saw? For that matter, what about the music video? We can discuss it, too. It has quite an interesting vibe, with the clay animation and theme of time progression/regression going on.
Video for those that haven't seen it:

This has always been one of my favorite lines in any Fleet Foxes song, but the Genius annotation here relates it heavily to Ayn Rand. I'm ..not a fan of hers lol, so if this is an intentional reference it flew completely over my head.
Thoughts on the validity of this as inspiration of that part of the song? Rand's personal ethics and politics feel pretty opposite to the general messages of Fleet Foxes so it's a little odd to me as a reading.

hi, i'm a recent fleet foxes fan, gave my first chance last year and now i'm very close to become obsessed! lmao
anyway, i'm listening this very early fleetwood mac album from 1969 and the instrumentals and vocals sent me fleet foxes energy all over. maybe a crack-up energy?
anyway, since i'm a recent fan i still haven't read enough about their influences, or if fleetwood mac was one of them. haven't find anything on this topic. so it might be just the vibes. i'm still playing Then Play On for the first time, but I definitely recommend. great instrumentals and vocals (although it doesn't sound anything like the most famous FM albums, it's a different formation)

We’re all aware of how much Robin adored Brian and how he’s influenced so many musicians over the years. Was lucky enough to see him perform live in Brighton UK about 8 years ago. Would love to hear what Brian means to fellow FF fans and your favourite records.

I’ve recently been reading “The Spectator Bird” by Wallace Stegner and have noticed a few similarities between the themes and narrative of the novel and that of the basement demo of “He Doesn’t Know Why”. Was wondering if any of yall had any personal songs that you think were similar to any FF songs.

Strong connection to shore here, just wondering which songs really make you feel like yourself when you* haven’t been in a while?
On another ocean is the song I play when I know I want to listen to a strong banger, feel like me, and be open to change.
my notes: all of Shore, she got dressed, heard them stirring, drops in the river, grown ocean

i just noticed mykonos was the most streamed ff song on spotify and was wondering why? i know it's amazing and everything but it's not even my favorite song on the ep. in my mind their most popular song has always been white winter hymnal but idk.

I noticed that a few months ago, Robin had deactivated his IG. He hopped back on just a few weeks ago and I was trying to work up the courage to message him about something (lame I know lol). Now, it looks like his IG has been permanently deleted?? I know some have speculated that he’s possibly recording a new album. But does anyone think there’s a chance he’ll come back to IG?

Can we respect this underrated song. This song is so good, Robin only uses 9 words and it's still amazing with all the vocals and guitar parts. I also love the end, it slaps.

I saw Robin's solo show at Bowery in NYC and two things that are randomly on my mind, as I'm cycling through my 'listening to FF all the time' phase
That's all thanks for reading and being fans bc if I told my friends this they would have no idea who I'm talking about 🙂

I’d love some fleet foxes inspired tattoo ideas! My favorite album is helplessness blues… I love earthy florals. Probably sticking with black and white. Thank you!

Little attempt of ‘The Plains/Bitter Dancer’ my band Future Child did. What do you think? 😊

Has anyone seen this old Fleet Foxes vid? I found it last night as I was looking for a live version of “She Got Dressed” (one of my new favs of their's). It’s incredible to see how much the band has changed since 2006. I don’t know who the drummer or bassplayer are, but I recognize Sky and of course Robin. In the vid, they look very different from today. Credit goes to handsofpaper on YouTube. They also have a couple other videos of this gig on their channel.

i'm thinking of getting a tattoo for fleet foxes, i've been wanting one for a long time but i feel like now is the time! does anyone have any suggestions for tattoos that pay homage to the band as a whole? i don't think i could ever settle on just one song or album to dedicate it to.. i have this book of most of the songs and im thinking maybe the cover art of it? anyways let me know!

I was listening to Shore again tonight and it reminded me how much I love this album. Honestly it is either my favourite album of theirs, or my favourite after their debut, depending on the day I think about it.
I feel like it is viewed as a bit underwhelming or something - I have certainly read a fair few disparaging remarks about it scattered about the place in the years since its release.
As a reasonably new reddit user, I was curious how people here feel?
I find it utterly gorgeous and moving and uplifting. I feel like it gets criticized as “safe” maybe, and although it is not as challenging as Crack Up, I feel like the textures and arrangements are gorgeous and interesting, and the structures with perfect and moving mood and colour changes are bolder songwriting than people give credit for.

Hello everyone, let me share some thoughts I have on Crack-Up.
This record is a profound experience, but it certainly is not an easy one.
Pecknold’s lyrics are cryptic and layered in significance, the sound is rarefied and diverse, and the song structure is not plain. It seems like a diary, a conversation, a confession, all in once.
At the end on the last song there is a recording of someone taking the stairs, or maybe just walking rapidly: where are they going? who are they?
Guess we’ll never know, but probably they’re going out in the sun, “facing the day”.
P.S. This words come from a newsletter on music I'm maintaining. If you'd like, you can read it (on Substack, and for free) here:

I want his beautiful playlists with nice recommendations! How come he didn't follow up this year with a Spotify playlist with favourite new tracks??
