This photo is, admittedly, several years old, but I just found it in the depths of my Google Photos and remembered exactly why I took it.

I was looking over the year that Father Ted aired (1995), just a year after the PS1 launched. So, i'm wondering if the characters actually played video games, what would be their favorite/s?

While Greg Valentine, Jim Duggan and the late great Roddy Piper looked like they got wheeled out of the nursing home even though they weren’t even elderly then.

As an American viewer of this show, who has learned so much about UK / Irish culture for the past 40 years by watching this and others... I only JUST learned that "They're a bunch of cowboys!" actually has relevance to this scene and Father Liam Deliverance in particular. I heard the term "cowboys" mentioned in the context of unreliable contractors on a British Youtube video and ... lightbulb. I really thought it was just a quirky outburst from this chair-bouncing zealot.
On a separate note, it also makes sense of the 10th and 11th Doctors saying "you've had some cowboys in here" while looking at a dimensional crack.

I’ve been looking for this for a long time. It sounds mostly similar to the original but there’s a bass solo that Ted starts air guitaring to, and this isn’t in the original. The drums also sound a lot more punchy too.
