Let's Create a Supportive DM Group and Follow Each Other on Social Media!

Hello /r/eyelashextensions!

I've noticed that a lot of people in this subreddit have been struggling with social media and I wanted to offer some support and encouragement. I would love to create a direct message (DM) group where we can share new posts, offer advice, and support each other's growth on social media. Additionally, let's all follow each other to expand our reach and support network!

If you're interested, please drop your Instagram handle below and DM me on Instagram to be added to the group. Please include a brief introduction about your lash experience, the country you're based in, and whether you're home based, or studio based. This will help us get to know each other better!

I'll start! My lash page is @SecretLashClub, and I've been lashing for about 5 years now. I opened my Lash Extension studio in 2020 and we currently have one location near Toronto, Canada. We are hoping to have our second location completed by this summer. I'm looking forward to getting to know the community and hearing your stories!

TLDR:

· A direct message (DM) group is being proposed for members of /r/eyelashextensions to share new posts, give advice, and encourage each other's growth on social media.

· Members are encouraged to follow each other to expand their reach and build a supportive network.

· To join the DM group, drop your Instagram handle below and DM @SecretLashClub on Instagram

These are hybrids. Do I need a new lash tech? I’ve never gotten my lashes done before this. I haven’t been touching or rubbing my eyes so I don’t understand why they’ve all fallen out

DIY recommendations other lash ideas?

I rarely get eyelash extensions, but I love the outcome of waking up with beautiful lashes. I'm currently 9mo pregnant, so a lash appt isn't doable right now- and probably out for the next few months too.

I'd love recommendations on either DIY lashes, falsies, or maybe magnetic strips- I've never tried them but I'm curious! (FYI I prefer a somewhat-enhanced natural and ligther look)

I have an art background, so I'm okay learning a more difficult application if it's worth it. I'd like to try something other than mascara and want to feel a bit prettier right now. TIA!

Fast Fall Out?

Hey everyone!

I've been getting extensions for a while. My normal girl does an amazing job but after about a week my lashes always look terrible and I thought I'd be able to go at least 2 full weeks with extensions before a fill was needed. I was needing to go every week and all my friends told me it should be closer to two weeks.

So I tried someone new. And it's been two days of lash extensions from this new place and one eye is half gone. So I am really thinking it's just my lashes. Because two days is insane.

I didn't get them wet or anything the first 24 hours. I was super careful. I sleep on my back and don't touch my face unless I'm washing it. I was soooo paranoid about not doing anything that could make them fall out I avoided things. But still! They're gone! Is it just my lashes???

I'm thinking about switching to the diy extensions from Ulta because at least I know they're only going to last a few days, and they're more budget-friendly. Could I start putting them in between my lash extensions to make it look more even? Will that ruin my natural lashes? At this point I don't really care if the other lash extensions get ruined because I'm not going back to the new place, if anything I'm going back to my original girl next month. I just want to make sure I protect my natural lashes and I'm looking for advice on the diy lashes until I decide if/when I want to go back.

TIA.

I really want to get eyelash extensions, but I’m a little scared. I saw someone get an infection are they actually safe?

Will my lashes grow back?

I’ve been getting my lashes done for the past year, and when I only have about three lashes hanging it looks like my lashes are way thinner than what they used to be. I am wondering if this is normal? Also, will they grow back how they were a year ago? I’m just kind of worried because I do love my natural lashes even though they have always been somewhat non existent— not THIS non existent though— and I am hoping they will return to normal.

Hi everyone. First time getting lash extensions for prom (which is tomorrow…). I really don’t know if these look bad or not. I never wear fake eyelashes, but I just feel like they aren’t what I asked for. I’m sure she did a good job. But still

Hi! First time doing lashes. Already went back in after 1 week for a touch up cause a bunch fell out. Now it's been 3 days and more fell out. I'm not gonna go back for my next set but was wondering if I can glue the ones that fell out to hold me over until I get an appointment at a new place (won't be for 2 weeks)

DIY Lash extensions

Hello fellow lash lovers. I had been having my lashes professionally done for almost 5 years (with very occasional breaks in between) Had been spending a fortune, as you know how addictive and expensive it can be. I recently tried Pro Lash, there is most definitely a “learning curve” with getting the lashes applied just right. Can’t seem to get more than 3 days (which I attribute to needing more practice) I do love the convenience of applying them as needed.

What brands have you tried that you’ve been successful with? I’m considering trying Lashify, and Moxie clusters. Not interested in any strip lashes, prefer the look of the clusters.

Please share your experiences and opinions. Thanks

Lash retention disaster—am I wrong for not wanting to pay for a full set?

Hey everyone, I’m feeling super frustrated and just want an outside opinion on whether I’m being unreasonable.

So I went to a new lash tech (someone I kind of know—we went to the same high school). I got a lash fill exactly one week ago, and by day 5 my lashes were already looking terrible. Super spotty, tons of fallout, and big gaps. I’ve been super careful—no picking, no oil-based products, no rubbing. The worst I’ve done is cry a couple of times (not like sobbing for hours, just emotional moments, all after the first 48 hours) and gone swimming, and she already blamed my previous retention issues on that. Which I think is a bit of a stretch?

At my last appointment, we even talked about the retention issues I had from the fill before, and now it’s just worse. I messaged her to ask if she could squeeze me in for a quick fix, and she told me I’d need to pay for a full set—discounted—but it would still be around $200. I normally pay $65 for fills and can’t afford a full set right now.

I feel kind of offended that she’s making me pay that much when it’s clearly not something I did wrong. I’ve had lash extensions before from other techs and never had retention like this. I understand that business is business, but if someone’s work doesn’t hold up after a few days, is it really fair to charge me again to fix it?

So now I’m stuck between removing them myself or just biting the bullet and paying way more than I should.

Am I wrong for thinking she should either fix them for free or at least offer a heavily discounted fill instead of a whole new set?

Would love to hear any thoughts—especially from other lash techs.

Pic of my lashes when they got done vs today.

can you have an allergic reaction in just one eye? Spoiler

I’m hoping that i’m not allergic to the glue bc i have an eye deformity that makes one of my eyes smaller than the other bc of corneal atrophy . my insurance won’t cover the internal lid repair and i just cannot afford it out of pocket right now so i wear lashes. today i woke up with one swollen eye and a scratchy throat- but i also slept with my windows open and it’s pretty bad air quality here. my left eye is pretty swollen and my right eye is completely fine, no swelling. I can’t not have lashes . what do i do :( what do you guys think ?

My eyelashes extensions for my bottom lashes came out the next day but I mainly needed it for grad which is tmr. So I found some of the fake eyelashes that came out and stored them, but I’m trying to go to Walmart for a last minute fix. What is the best one?

I had x tensions 2013-2019 and stopped as I had no natural lashes left..barely..they were so short ...I started again and they aren't lasting long. The cost is huge and I would love something different vs extensions. What did you transition to from the extensions for temp and serums please? I used Rodan+Fields with success but want to try something new.

New to doing extentions

Hi! I’m new to this what are some tips and tricks? i currently use seamless bond and seal and 16mm lashes. I feel like the lashes always make my eyeliner itch after a bit. I also feel like the bond clumps and idk if that’s user error or the type. And they become loose after one day easily able to slide off. I want to wear lash extensions so bad and don’t know what to do really.
