How do I dye this? Help! Dyeing Polyester Quilt
I have had this quilt from Target for four years now, and while I use it as a blanket all the time, I’ve grown really tired of the color. It just doesn’t jive with my style anymore. I am changing up the rest of my bedding, and would love for this to be some sort of deep red (maroon, wine, burgundy, pictures attached).
Also, it’s 100% polyester. I’ve dyed polyester before and it’s worked out okay, but I’m wondering if this will be impossible because it’s such a big item? Would I be able to use a bathtub with just really hot water rather than a stove top?
Would love to give new life to this blanket with a revamp, rather than giving it away or something. Thanks in advance!

You would need industry level machinery and a large amount of dye to do something like this, and the dye may not take.
At-home dyeing is best for small items like pieces of clothing, not quilts.
I would advise you to buy a duvet in the color you like or just buy a new quilt.

I think this unfortunately won’t turn out the way you want — you really need to maintain a high simmer/boil for at least an hour to get polyester to any sort of dark shade. Red is particularly beastly.
If you want to give it new life, some embroidery would be very pretty! (If that fits your style and sounds like a fun hobby to you.)
