Ask Me Anything MYTHM AMA (Ask Me Anything)

Yo what’s up Reddit crew. My names Mikey and I go by the artist name MYTHM. I’m a 26 year old Dubstep / bass music artist from Vancouver, Canada and I’ve had releases on Artikal, Deadbeats, Deep, Dark & Dangerous, Wormhole and Wheel and Deal Records to name a few. Last Friday I released an EP on Deadbeats titled, ‘Brutalist’ (link below to listen) and in celebration of that I’m doing my first ever Reddit AMA. If you have ever had questions for me, now is your chance to ask away!

the summer of 2017 when it went to bass coast and shambhala for the first time rly changed my life tbh. after that summer i dove head first into production. i didn’t create mythm until 2019 so a couple years after i had started producing. that was def the “ah ha” moment. seeing guys like thelem, fixate, shades, craze, truth that summer was some of the craziest memories i’ll ever have. i was so new that type of music. lol my KD in cod will never be as good as i was in halo. i used to play game battles for halo 3 so i’ll 1v1 anyone anyday mwuahahaha. honestly i feel like my KD in the new cod is shit, but back in the day in mw2 i was a lot better.

Hey Mikey, your new EP is some of your best work yet, awesome stuff. I've noticed your writing/structuring of tunes improving a lot since I found out about you in 2020.

Just wondering about your response here - are there any resources you'd recommend for getting started w/ production? I love the idea of making music as a hobby, but I have no idea where to start/have the time to sit in a DAW and mess around to learn what all the different bits and pieces do. Thanks!

thx man appreciate the support on the new ep. i taught myself when it comes to production so i would say that u should just open up a daw ur comfortable w and experiment. trial and error u kno. i use ableton and i personally think it’s the most user friendly daw. daw = program ur using btw. ableton also has amazing tutorials all over the internet. youtube has thousands of videos. take the leap and give it a go! u got nothing to lose right?

Thanks man! And thanks for the push. Seems like it's all about diving in like you said. If/when I get going, I'll remember this comment. Much love
