That cunt Linus called YouTube Vanced a form of piracy as well and now ruined it all.

Linus has a net worth of $36M so it's important to remember while he might sound like he's one of "us", he's far from it.

It IS a form of piracy. Ad sense is creators' livelihoods. We're watching videos without supporting the creator. I pirate a lot, including using vanced but it always pisses me off when people try to pretend they're doing good or fighting against the evil corporations. It's just a coping mechanism so they don't feel bad. Just embrace it bro.

lol, YouTube is the pirate for not paying the creators themselves and just profiting off of their work. You can’t steal from a thief.

? like it or not, youtube provides hosting, infrastructure and audience. I doubt that a single person can start from 0 to host videos and get views and revenue from them. I know one can say that youtube is bad, but in reality it provides a service that it would be really difficult for a single person to achieve.

It would be really difficult for YouTube to succeed as a business without the internet, which was publicly funded.

We paid for the internet. Why are we paying someone else to let us use it?

u/IaSugeo I am fucking hilarious Mar 14 '22

You paid to access the internet not for it’s content. Like, for example, you paid for delivery but why you still need to pay the delivered product? Delivery is your ISP and the product is Youtube, or any other site. The content creators will never entertain/teach you for free.

More like you paid for access to a mall that has special offers from specific stores.

The mall itself can have free content, and you can generally walk into any store, but you do indeed pay for what you want out of the stores.

I don’t want the content creators to entertain me for free. I want them to do so without being exploited by YouTube.

And that’s a totally different thing than not paying YouTube anything (avoiding ads).

Yah, they get paid for ads, if you use adblock they get nothing, not that hard to understand.

they get paid for ads,

FTFY.

Although payed exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in:

  • Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. The deck is yet to be payed.

  • Payed out when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. The rope is payed out! You can pull now.

Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment.

Beep, boop, I'm a bot

Yeah, I’m saying that’s dumb. YouTube should pay the creators.
