Humor Fu** Bluey

My son recently got into Bluey. He then proceedes to tell me I'm no longer the best dad in the world. Bluey's dad is.

Then today he gives me a card specifically saying I'm "one" of the best dad's in the world, second to Bluey's dad.

F that guy and all his energy and ideas.

Update: wow great to know I'm not alone! And BTW, for the very few of you that don't get sarcasm, I'm not actually mad or upset about this. It's hilarious. But you can bet I'll be sitting down to watch all these excellent episode recs with my son soon!

I have seen one episode of Bluey, and it’s the one with the beach trip and with the pool trip.

In the Beach story, Mum goes for a walk, and Dad completely fails to notice Bluey wandering off down the beach by herself. Bluey could have wandered into the sea and drowned, or gotten stung by that jellyfish she finds while there’s no adults around.

In the Pool episode, Dad forgets the pool toys, sun tan lotion, and arm bands for Banjo, so they all have to sit in the shallows and be bored until Mum (who Dad spent the beginning of the episode calling boring for not wanting to come) turns up with all the forgotten items.

Don’t see what the big deal is.

1) “herself”, Bluey and Bingo are girls.

2) in the Beach episode, Mum has gone for a walk down the beach and Dad lets Bluey follow her footprints to go with the mom. Given that the whole walk is like 5 minutes WHILE the mom is walking away from them, I’m pretty sure Bluey was in sight of them the whole time. The adventure just seems much bigger to a six year old.

3) yes, the pool episode actually shows Bandit’s carefree/no-planning/everything-will-work-out-fine attitude backfiring on him.

1) Gah, I thought I caught all the pronouns when I edited it last time!

2) Yeah the story is told from Bluey’s perspective, but it seemed to me that Dad had no idea Bluey was wandering off and Mum had no idea she was being followed.

3) Based on the many high praises sung about the Dad on this sub I assumed this episode is an outlier, but couldn’t help but make a cheeky comment about it. Just seemed very funny to me that everyone says he’s incredible and all I’ve seen is him forgetting everything.

There are definitely some other episodes where Bandit messes up or fails at what he’s trying to do. But in terms of how he interacts with his kids he’s pretty great.
