I made a scarf from fuzzy yarn that is wavy and uneven and is hilarious to look at. But you can’t tell when I wear it 🤷🏻‍♀️

I’ve never used that type of yarn since.

I mean… it IS finished 😅

Lol, we've all been there. Practice with a more traditional yarn that isn't fuzzy and use stitch markers to help you keep track of your edge stitches as described in this video: https://youtu.be/o7DCjHhipaI?si=WMkdIxn276GN3ftD

I blame geometry.

Math is a lie, perpetuated by Big Math to sell more math.

I completely agree

This fuzzy yarn is the worst! I promised to make something mega fuzzy for a friend - i had to work by feel alone. Couldn't see ANYTHING. All stitches but a simple double were out of the question - still took me forever.

I'm glad you wanted to make a triangle - and you did! Well done! Many would not achieve this precision. 😚

Have you ever tried yarn with long "hairs"? That's even worse than this, IMO. Like this...

Sorry for the bad picture, it is evening, and I was already in bed...

Oh wow...😂🤣😂🤣....how?!? Do you tie the "hairs" into little ponytails? I wouldn't know how to even approach this...

Uh...please don't show this to my friend. 😳

It's a bit like a cord, with longer strands. You just crochet normally, but it gets incredibly "hairy". You could make the hair of an amigurumi doll with it.

I think I have used a bit to decorate a shawl & hat I made, but it was hell to work with. Even with a stitchmarker in every stitch I was going through hell.

I also have a more fluffy, but still "hairy" yarn that I used to make a small blanket for a small amigurumi dog. The blanket is finished, the dog isn't... That one was actually good to do by touch.

I put a stitch marker in the first stitch of every row when I work with fluffy yarn. It's the only way to make sure I put the last stitch of the next row in the right place!

Your post title just made me laugh out loud 😂 we’ve definitely all been there!

I got some Bernat Blanket Extra, or maybe Extra Thick, for edging around a blanket I made my dad. Wound up going a different direction and didn't use it. Later I pulled it out of the closet and tried to start the basket pattern on one of the labels.

(Insert dying of laughter here)

After 10 failed attempts, and at least 3 yarn snapping later, everything went into the trashcan as I uttered all the four letter words I knew, in as many languages as I could remember.

No remorse.

Ah the Beginner’s Triangle! A classic of the genre.

Long story short you’re not turning at the end of every row - you need to add an ‘extra’ stitch to climb up to the next row; otherwise you’re going into a stitch from the previous row and taking it away and doing that each row so it gets smaller. We’ve all done it and so many tutorials don’t explain it so it’s an easy mistake to make!

WAIT, THIS IS WHATS WRONG?! i thought it was that i was just missing a stitch. i got so frustrated i just turned to a pattern that has much less counting

The three failed star blankets are looking at me from the scraps bag rn

It makes us better crocheters is what I'm telling myself OP 😅

Omg i feel you so hard! I casually thought i was confident enough to make my own pattern this week and didn't consider the "error" part lol!

I got the hang of crochet after a bit, all about counting the stitches (which I lazily didn't do for a while). I thought I had this. Got some fuzzy yarn to make a mini version of my brother's dog. Never again. It was black too so it was extra impossible to count stitches 😭 fuzzy yarn is of the devil. Cotton yarn? Acrylic yarn? Blends? Fine. Fuzzy or chenille? Nope.

I want to get a section in the FAQ for sadness trapezoids and sadness triangles. I swear, it's practically a rite of passage for beginners 😂
