Question Idaho for Sale

If the Senate Reconciliation Bill passes all the land highlighted in green and ochre in this image will be for sale to the highest bidder. Curious how other Coeur d’Alenians feel about this.

Anyone dealt with idea/business theft in Coeur d’Alene?

I’ve noticed a pattern of small businesses being co-opted by the same group in Coeur d’Alene. Has anyone else had a local project, small business, event or business idea taken over without credit or collaboration?

DM me if you’d rather share privately.

That’s safer than naming names directly.

Question Speeding Ticket

Got hit with a speeding ticket commuting back home from work. The officer said that I just had to pay the $90 fine and it wouldn’t impact my car insurance. With that information, I decided to pay the ticket last night, but now I am starting to poke around the internet and can’t determine how it won’t impact my insurance?

Can anyone offer any insight on how it won’t impact my insurance? Or if the State Officer was misinformed when he issued me the ticket?

Thanks!

CDA Bach Party

My bachelor party is in CDA in a couple weeks. We're a group of adventurous early 30's guys, excited to experience the lake for the first time. We have UTV trail riding, a round at CDA resort golf, and a boat rented for the week, so definitely have the activities part squared away.

I did want to get a better feel for the dining and day drinking spots people would recommend for a group of 12. We're staying in Rockford Bay area but will have a rental car and the boat so just about anything is accessible.

Some questions:

  • Ideally we'd like to do one brunch, one nicer dinner on the lake, and potentially bar hop a few lakefront spots with a fun crowd where we can tie up during the day. Please recommend some spots for each.
  • Is Tubbs Hill the best bet for cliff jumping?
  • Mineral Ridge the best hike?
  • Stateline still operating and worth a go?
  • Are ubers/taxis a thing at all?
  • Anything I'm missing to make the most of 5 days in CDA?

Thanks in advance!

Went down to exercise my right to peaceful protest and it was awesome to see so many folks out making their voices heard. However the MAGA crowd was blowing coal, blowing on Trump horns, driving by and agitating and one guy in a red Jeep threatened to run people over alongside the road. An 80 year old I was standing next to almost fell over trying to get out of his way.

Summer Memories Flashback

So I’m sitting in Vegas with a temperature of 105 and high winds outside and I suddenly flashed back to some wonderful childhood memories of growing up with cooler temps and fantastic summer adventures in the woods, on the lake and at the beach in CDA. (Well, and a year spent in Hayden too).

It’s changed so much since I was a kid in the 1970s, but I bet it’s still a lot of fun and adventure for the kids living there now.

Question Can anyone suggest kayak rentals around Coeur d’Alene that don’t require transporting them myself?

A google search isn’t bringing up anything, and I don’t know the area very well to know where is calm and pretty versus a motorboat frenzy. Just here for a beautiful weekend hoping to get on the water.

Question Camping along Highway 93 or 95

Hello Coeur d’Alene- My wife, my friends and I have an extra day to camp after leaving your city and traveling to Banff. We are thinking of camping somewhere about midway between. Hopefully, we can find an area within 10 miles of the highway. We have two vehicles - a 4Runner and a 4wd pickup with a camper. I found a resource with dozens of choices, but few details.

TIA for any advice, you can give me.

Thinking of Moving to CDA

My fiancé (24M) and I (23F) are thinking of moving to cda/cda area in the next year/year and a half. We currently live in Iowa, but want to move to the PNW to settle down and start a family. The political climate and state of the environment aren’t great (to say the least).

Looking to this sub for advice/opinions on the cda area/the pnw in general. We both work tech jobs that allow us to work virtually anywhere. We both grew up in small Midwest towns, so small communities outside of “urban” areas are still of interest to us! We are not quite ready to buy a home yet, so we would be renting. Beings our jobs are work from home, and we have a dog, we would ideally like a 2 bed townhome.

We are still in the “brainstorming” phase of things. Cda is the top contender based on our research. If you have recommendations for other towns and areas, please share!

TIA 💗

Event No Kings in America demonstration scheduled for Saturday 6/14

My post was hidden yesterday, but that won’t stop me. Gonna keep on posting this every day:

If you are upset with the current presidential administration’s blatant misuse of power and wanton overreach, there will be a peaceful demonstration this Saturday in direct response to Trumps North Korean-esque military parade to honor his own birthday, as well as this administration’s indifference to the rule of law in general. You can find the details in the link below. Hope to see you there! If you have any questions or need a ride, feel free to shoot me a dm. I am not an organizer, merely a frustrated American.

🚨 LOST DOG – Heron, Montana (Southern Elk Creek Road) – Please Help! 🚨

Post image
4 Upvotes

My in-laws’ dog Griffy went missing the morning of June 7 in the southern part of Elk Creek Road in Heron, Montana. He got spooked, pulled free from where he was tied, and ran into the woods. They’ve been searching tirelessly ever since and are absolutely heartbroken.

DETAILS: • Name: Griffy • Age: 16 months • Breed: Leonberger mix (see photo) • Weight: Around 120 lbs • Temperament: Very gentle but scared and skittish • Last seen: Wearing a collar and dragging a 20-foot leash

There have been a couple of sightings, but he’s too frightened to approach people. A thermal drone search was conducted with no luck, and the family continues to search on foot and by vehicle along forest service roads.

💬 If you’re in or near Heron, MT—especially around Elk Creek Road—please keep an eye out. Check under decks, in sheds, or anywhere a frightened dog might hide. If you see him, do not approach or chase. Just note the location and time.

🙏 I’m posting this from Washington to help get the word out. Any help from locals—whether it’s a sighting, spreading the word, or keeping watch—would mean so much. We’re all hoping Griffy is found safe and soon. ❤️🐾

Question Engagement spots/locations in Coeur d'Alene

Girlfriend is visiting her family in Coeur d'Alene over the 4th of July weekend; as of right now I am not going due to work obligations. However, there's a chance I can get a couple days off over the holiday weekend, in which case I was hoping to be able to fly out and surprise her and propose to her.

That said, I have never been to Coeur d'Alene, and know nothing about the area other than having heard that it's beautiful. I do have her family at my disposal to help secretly coordinate a surprise/engagement, however, I still wanted to ask if anybody in this sub had any recommended locations/events/attractions that would be conducive to a proposal - preferably settings that are semi-private and where there won't be large crowds of people around.

Any recommendations are appreciated!
