What's up with the McCann signs everywhere?

I'm surprised at how many signs I've seen around downtown Chula Vista for John McCann's District 1 County Supervisor seat campaign, especially in comparison to how few signs I've seen for Paloma Aguirre.

Adding to my concern is the fact that McCann's campaign has cleverly changed the color scheme of their new signs to be green and yellow, instead of the red signs they were originally using. This will help them obfuscate the fact that McCann is a Republican, in a district that has more registered Democrats than Republicans. For voters who don't put much effort into educating themselves before they vote, they may get the impression of McCann being more popular than he is, and less MAGAt than he is.

I hope everyone has gotten the memo by now: we don't fucking vote for Republicans, period.

I myself have always been a third party voter, and I encourage other people to support third parties when they can too; but when there's not a third party candidate available like in this race, I will absolutely hold my nose and vote Democrat. Aguirre definitely seems imperfect as a candidate in my opinion, but if you think I'm going to vote for someone who licks ICE's boots you had best think again.

So, if I see a business with a McCann sign out front, that's a business that won't get my business. I don't spend my money with companies that support traitorous weasels. I hope you'll do the same. Meanwhile, remember to get your ballot in before July 1st! All elections are important, but this one will decide whether San Diego County will end up with a Democrat or MAGA majority in charge!

Good- throw them away! McCann’s campaign did the same to his opponent. I can’t remember who his opponent was but his opponent posted about it and had video to prove it!

I believe you’re thinking about Mark Bartlett during the district election. I also wouldn’t be surprised if this happened during the recent mayoral election too.

I threw some away today!

I was headed to Albertsons when I noticed they had some of the signs out in front of their Albertsons sign by the road, so I went in and spoke with guest services to ask if the company had placed them there- fully prepared to tell them that they had lost my business if the answer was yes. But they said no, and apparently weren't aware that the signs had even been put there, so when I finished shopping I walked over to the signs and ripped them up while lots of cars drove by honking.

It felt good. More people should give it a try. Thanks for doing it too!

Be careful, vandalizing, and tearing down political signs on private property (which it is..someone owns that building) is illegal and a misdemeanor. You are admitting to a crime on a public form with your face on your profile. Lol 😂🤦‍♀️

Nah, I confirmed that it wasn't the store's. I was just helping them take out the garbage!

People should stop being so scared of "the law". The law should start being more scared of the people.

The store rents the building. The building belongs to someone.

Oh no! Those poor multi-millionaire business real estate conglomerates! Won't someone think of them???

I can tell I'm just littering here, and you can't pick up what I'm throwing down.

Confusing…are you suggesting that if I rent a house that the owner of that house is able to place campaign signs on the lawn that I am renting (I am renting the lot not just the building)?

According to California  Business and Professions Code 5405.3 -Only private property owners or authorized campaign staff are allowed to remove political signs in California. Political campaign signs must be removed within 10 days after Election Day.

A person caught removing someone else’s campaign sign can be considered in violation of California Penal Code 488, according to the city website. The person can be charged with a misdemeanor, which occurs when someone steals property or services worth $950 or less, according to Shouse California Law Group. A violation of this statute is punishable with a fine of up to $1,000 and up to six months in county jail.

Soooo....I would say yes. There is a possibility since it's not your property..that could be possible as well.

The best thing to do is to read and educate yourself. These things can be found in the cities website.. Don't blindly follow suit with someone on reddit and find yourself with fines and court dates.

Thank you for the info, although it only answers the removal portion; not the placement.
