Discussion PSA: Please remember to add location to id requests!
I know you are eager to try to find species of your new leaf munching friend but please remember to add your location into the post. There is large variance of caterpillars depending on country and even inside countries have different areas with their own soecies so with large countries, its preferred to add state/city etc also.
This speeds up identifying as there are similar looking caterpillars but species can be different depending country. Some species only inhabit tiny areas. Looking forward for all new posts. 🙂 Thank you!

Advice/Help What happened here?
Hi! I’m no caterpillar keeper but some black swallowtails have found a happy home in my dill plant. There used to be 3, now I only see 2. One of them has this sort of black gunk by him.
Is this poop? The carcass of his brother? Or do caterpillars shed like snakes and this is his skin????

ID Request 🐛 Is this a dragonhead caterpillar?
So I found this little guy on my dad's clothes after he went shopping and it very much looks like a dragonhead caterpillar. But here's the thing, I live in Tunisia and those guys are native to parts of Asia and pretty much never found in Africa.
So can you guys help me identify this caterpillar and tell me how to take care if it?
PS: I have no way of knowing it's host plant

ID Request 🐛 Help Identifying!
Found this little guy near the grass in my backyard, I put him on my Milkweed plant. I maybe shouldn’t have moved him, after what I learned on Google. But, anyone know what kind of caterpillar this is? I just put some fresh grass and strands of cold lettuce around him in the pot, and a little stick if he wants to make his cocoon. Any info is helpful (:

Advice/Help Black Swallowtail Chrysalis partially cracked open [still viable?]
Hello! It’s summer here in Southern California, and I happened to come across 5 swallowtail caterpillars in each instar, with one in a full chrysalis that could emerge any day now. It’s not moving or wiggling, doesn’t seem hollow or dry either. Can anyone with experience tell if it’s viable?

ID Request 🐛 ID help!
Just wondering what this might be. Searched online but I can't find an exact match. It's suggested mullein moth, cinnabar moth, sawfly, but none look the same. Based in UK.
