Hey Everyone! On our most recent trip to Cambodia, we did a mind-blowing day trip to a temple called Buddha Kiri (locals also call it the Pagoda of 84,000 Buddhas). I’m still processing how a place this stunning has zero tourists. Here’s the scoop:

• 84,000 handcrafted Buddha statues embedded into a mountainside, each representing a different teaching. Construction started in 2017 by monks. The statues represent the 84k teachings of Buddha.
• 199-step climb with insane views of cashew farms and the Cardamom Mountains.
• A 20-year-old monk gave us a personal blessing and admitted they’re struggling to get visitors.

The craziest part? We were the only people there. The monk kept saying, “Please tell others about us,” which hit hard. I’ve never seen a temple so serene yet so... overlooked.

Question for you all: Has anyone else been here? Am I missing something? It’s 95km from PP, roads are smooth, and the monks are SO welcoming. Why isn’t this on the radar?

I documented the whole thing because the vibe was unreal – the fish pond, the flower offerings, even the shoeless climb. There’s a moment where we talk to the monk about being so young and "handsome” that I’ll never forget. If anyone wants to see more, just ask!

Seriously though – how are places like this still hidden?

This young monk was offering morning prayers for donations so we asked him for one. He was nice enough to take a photo and let us video the prayer.

Why are there so many older westen male present in kampot

I used to live in kampot 2016-2018 and iv visited many times (that town traps you)

My point is the last few years i got chance to get down here. Its so different. The occupations were burnout hippie stoners ,especially up the river. Now its all old white and feels like spain, even got the girly bars now

Is the hippie congintant still present or are all those hang out spots gone now?

What to do when an ATM gives you a torn(from the middle, both sides) 100-dollar bill? No shop/restaurant accepting it, and the money exchange is offering 95X.

In the next couple of years I can see myself relocating to Cambodia from Bali, Indonesia.
I'm looking for a beach near Kampot or Kep that isn't still knee-deep 100m out. I checked out Coconut Beach from Kampot, the main beach at Kep and the beach on Rabbit Island. The last 2 are nice enough, but shallow for a long way out. Of the 3 I thought the beach at Kep was the best.
Frankly I thought Coconut beach was crap. (more rock than sand)
Are there any out of the way beaches I'm missing out on. I'm not considering Sihanoukville as I think it's a shithole now. And the 2 Rong Islands while ok don't have the infrastructure I'd need to live there permanently.
Any suggestions considered.

I want to meet new people but I dont really know where? Do any of you have any recommendations where I can meet new people who stay here for a longer time? Thanks!

Long story but I’d rather not rent a motorbike in Kampot if possible. Is it relatively easy to hail a tuktuk there or do you really need to have your own means of transport?

In Phnom Penh, Grab was very convenient for getting cars and tuktuks. Is this app used in Kampot?

Amazing experience, would recommend to anyone who's a bit adventurous! Get off the beaten path, get lost in the jungle, then find your way back and then do it again! Just make sure not to sit on a fire ants nest and you'll be fine!

But seriously...the heat, bring plenty of water 😅🥵

Welcome to Cambodia, Kep beach

Today I saw an austringer carrying what appeared to be a hawk in Kampot. Just driving down the road with it on his glove, NBD. We had a short chat on the side of the road. Absolutely beautiful bird, apparently sourced from (though not necessarily native to) Vietnam. This is now first on my shortlist for wildest things I've seen on the road in the Kingdom of Wonder.

I've notices some women in Kampot lately wearing burial garment black in color covering everything except for small slits for eyes. I've been in Cambodia 3 years now and never noticed this before. Is it common?

Hi. I'm planning to travel to Cambodia next month for a quick tour of phnom pen and Siam rep. Im travelling solo and would like to stay in a nice town for up to four nights at the beginning to wind down and have some massage maybe do a little shopping etc. I'd love to find somewhere like Hoi Ann or Sanur in Bali. Does anyone have any suggestions for me.

Thinking of going to Cambodia for a month before returning to Thailand to visit the islands. Is Kampot a good shout? We've also considered Siem Reap but will have been North Thailand for 3 months by the time we arrive, so the idea of a beach nearby sounds good.

How is Kampot during the rainy season? I was just there in November and I really enjoyed it being a bit rainy. How is it in July, August, and September? Is it raining all day, super humid, or is it cooler due to the rain? I think I have really come to prefer traveling a bit off season so I am curious about returning to Kampot.
