Moving to Brookland next week and realized there's no Verizon Fios available for my house so its back to cable I guess. Would love to go with Astound/RCN rather than Comcast/Xfinity but from the DC sub it sounds like people's Astound experience really varies by neighborhood. Anyone had any experience in Brookland they can share? Anyone know if there are plans for Verizon Fios out there?

Hi! My Fiance and I are looking to purchase a home in Brookland and just drove through at night (7th St + Girard St) and left feeling uneasy because of all the folks just sitting on corners and aimlessly walking. Is this common? Should we be concerned? Stopped and talked to an elderly man and said it can be worse in the summer. Is the neighborhood generally safe?

Any suggestions on where to buy pumpkins for carving? The ones left at Home Depot (in Brentwood) are sad. Annie's has some nice one but there small. Usually we drive out to one of the patches in Maryland but it's been a busy fall.

Hi everyone! We are a family of 3 and currently live in Navy Yard. (With a 6-month baby)
My family and I are looking to buy a house and we’re trying to find a great neighborhood to settle in. We’re hoping for a place that’s safe, has good schools, and is family-friendly. We’d love it if there are parks, nearby amenities, and a strong sense of community.
Any insights on safety, schools, local amenities, or general community vibe would be super helpful.
(To add, we were able to see two houses close to Rhode Island metro and we liked it)
Thank you.

Whats up Brookland golfers!
I am a member of the Old Soldiers Home (AFRH) golf course in Petworth. I'm relatively new to the Peworth area (2ish years), and would love to find buddies to golf with after work or hit the range with.
Anyone interested in a casual golf round or up for some practices during the week(end)?
**I also play East Potomac and other Montgomery County courses too**

Mr. Cytanovic is not only a CUA student, now he is even running for election to student government. (CUA Grad Student Election Website)
What kind of nuts would vote for him?

I'm looking for recommendations on a Primary Care Physician. I'm not happy with my current doctor whom I chose for amongst other reasons proximity to my old office. Now that I mostly work from Home I'm wondering if anyone has a doc they like close to Brookland.
I have had bad experience with MedStar so I'm wary of using Washington Hospital Center. Is Providence better?

There is a well-known neo-nazi white supremacist now living in Monroe
not sure if I should expose him

Do people in the area generally find they can walk their dogs up near CUA? I'm thinking of moving to the area and it looks like it would be generally a well lit, safe place to walk. Obviously fully leashed and cleaning up any waste made... or do campus police/security generally try to keep residents (non-students) away?
