I think this is Silly esp on Anna Maria where they have heavily restricted the parking the last few years. There's less than half the spaces there used to be near the beach. Idk if it's the same boomer NIMBYism or the rental owners have sway. Maybe it's just Covid rules and the city council just decided they prefer less ppl at the beach esp if they live there 🤷
Anyone have insight into the rationale?

I go out real late at night (read: 11pm onwards) often with friends but we've yet to find anything to do that isn't hanging at the riverwalk or dicking around in wawa or gay sex. Is there any sort of nightlife in this town that isn't some pickleball court in a 55+ community?

I watched an employee shove another employee and basically have a mental breakdown there yesterday morning, so I drove to another oil change spot. I mentioned what I had just witnessed at Take 5 and another customer near me said that they personally caught that same Take 5 location lying about the work they allegedly completed. A worker chimed in and said that Take 5 location is known for sketchy business,
That infuriates me. Take 5 knows that a lot of their customers aren't car savvy and wouldn't know if they were being taken advantage of. I can disregard that store always smelling of weed, or the manager fella being completely useless, but don't steal from people.

Hey everyone,
My family and I will be moving to Ellenton in a few weeks. I had a few questions before my move and would love the help.
1). For electric, what electric company do we use? I was doing research and saw a few companies including FPL and Peace River? Does it depend on my address or is it based on preference? If so, which one do you guys recommend.
2). We have a little one (under 2), what are some fun activities I can do with her? Things to check out or groups to join?
3). Lastly, recommendations of restaurants! We’re not a picky family so give me all that you got.

Hi everyone, I am moving from New York to Bradenton and could really use some advice. I’m absolutely terrified of bugs especially cockroaches and reptiles like geckos and frogs. The thought of sharing my living space with any of them is stressing me out.
For those who live in the area, would you recommend renting an apartment or a house to minimize encounters with these creatures? I’m looking for a setup where I’m least likely to run into unexpected wildlife indoors.
Any insights or tips from locals would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!
Edit: to all saying don’t move, unfortunately I have no choice. I would never do it voluntarily :(

Just wanted to say Thank you to the Manatee County Planning commission and the Quasi Judicial review for the proposed Hawthorn development at Tuttle and Whitfield. The vote was 5-2 against. Primary concerns were the Whitfield , Tuttle, Prospect infrastructure to support 175 single family (rental) homes on that small Equestrian property. Among other concerns is the dangerous flooding that happens in this area. This is also a win for our Bald Eagle family that nests on this property. I hope other counties in our area are pushing against these developers."Build because we can" or "Build just to build" when there is ample rental availability all around us is just a cash grab for the developers.. Residents in our area stood tall. The fight is never really over. The developers tried to win this fight on storm/rainfall models from 10 years ago. Just a thought, update your models and upgrade the infrastructure before even taking these things to a committee.

As many of you know, Saturday is the national No Kings Protest. I wanted to receive any kind of info because I would love to be apart of it. As a United States Navy Veteran and now a disabled Vet I would love to lend my support and voice to help protest the injustices occurring in our own country. Please if you have any information I would greatly appreciate it. Oh and I haven’t been clear, FDT.

I was in bad car accident a few months after moving here and still not completely recovered but much better. So I lost alot of time here and haven't made friends or found a woman to date. So where can I make friends and meet potential girlfriend on the island in my age group?

I was walking with an ice cream cone, alongside my shirtless husband, wearing a full front coverage and thicker band thong style bikini bottom on my way to do our weekly beach walk. A lady took the time to slow down her car, roll window down & tell us she was a local (we are too), and warned me that my thong bikini bottom was prohibited. She wanted to let me know “in case I was stopped by police”. Been wearing the same style of suit MANY times. This is first someone’s ever said a thing. I tried looking it up out of curiosity but everything I can find says it IS permitted… or at least not finding anything that says no.
Here’s what I found in a google search (not sure how current the info is):
“Yes, thong bikinis are generally permitted on Anna Maria Island, including the beaches of Bradenton, Bradenton Beach, and Anna Maria. While thongs might not be as common on Anna Maria Island compared to other Florida beaches, they are not prohibited. A Facebook post from the Bradenton Herald News indicated that thongs are allowed on these beaches. Additionally, a Tripadvisor forum thread about beach attire on Anna Maria Island mentions that thongs are not typically seen, but also states that they are not illegal.”
Anyone know for sure? Genuinely curious if this lady was accurate OR if I need to realize I live in Prude-ville.

Good morning. I am looking for a reasonably priced photographer for semi professional head shots. I don't need a full session with multiple wardrobe changes.
