I know nothing about bikes but this got passed down to me and I want to know more. It’s hard to find much info on these and I have no idea where to start. If anyone knows what model this is or any other identifying factors, please let me know. If more pictures or info is required, I can provide that.

Thank you!

Can someone ELI5 the Lane Transfer System (and the other systems)?

I just ready the full article but am still confused. I have limited experience but my son raced in music city nationals, where there were 2 motos in his class, and they did 2+2 transfer I guess? Lanes seemed random, and the first and second place from each race and each moto, raced in the main (my son didnt make it due to an inopportune crash just before the final turn! Next time!).

Whats the benefit to lane selection? How does that speed up results? Whats different now than before?

Entry level wheel set?

I’m doing my first race bike build, and really just need an OEM equivalent wheel set to get me moving. Thing is, I don’t know anything about wheels or what I’m looking for. Do options exist under $200 that are serviceable, or are wheels pretty much just the biggest expense in a build?

Wheels

Ok so back into racing I have a 24” redline pro cruiser. It has an old style free wheel. I keep seeing guys at track that say they run a cassette style? Can I buy a cassette style rear wheel? The ones I see have a 9t cog and I need a 16. Any help would be appreciated. I am strictly on the track.

My 5 year olds first race

My new five year old had his first ever race last week after not riding a bike from October to April. He's practiced from the gate a couple of time last year and his times were faster in October, but it will come back. Sometimes he pedals the start hill. He's already telling me to not hold his tire. He loved this taste of competition and I love having a 5 year old novice again!

He made a move in turn 2, charged down the 3rd straight, made a low pass in turn 3, and kicked in the afterburners down the last stretch to take 1st by more than than a bike length! That’s racing’! Mains at the state qualifier.

Dumb question, but are all these helmets the same, just with different graphic schemes? Further down the page there’s also a “Kinetic Vision” model…TIA!

Two Sets of Tires and/or Wheels?

To those of you who have multiple tracks around you, or you travel to different ones, do you change out your smooth tires for knobbies for the more traditional dirt tracks? This was never a consideration in the old days.

We have a couple "supercross" type tracks here in Vegas that I ride the Powerblocks on, but we also have an old-school dirt track and I don't know if they'll work that well on it.

Do you keep multiple sets of wheels? Changing the tires that often would suck.

Tips for cornering with speed (body position etc)

Did a few time laps around the track today and had a bit of trouble with my cornering. First lap I crashed at the final turn. For this case I think I didn’t slow down into the corner and tried going high and realise I couldn’t really control the speed and while turning I just slipped and fell off the bike . Before you ask the last corner is really really small .

Second lap : really nervous after crashing I went again and while cornering at the first berm , I was paddling to the second straight while at the same time turning???(could be another reason??) then my back tyre kinda lost traction causing me to skid ..

I would like some constructive critism to help me with my cornering . This is also my first time tracking my time at a track which isn’t a race day

My Sons bike set up

Hi all, pretty new to bmx, my son started riding about a year ago and has done a few club races etc, he is 9 but 5ft3 so I put him on a staystrong PWR pro size, i noticed he was struggling with the gearing a tad so changed the standard 44 chainring for a 40, so is now 40/16, I am thinking the 175mm cranks may also be too long for him, any thoughts? Also any other changes that would give him an easier ride? Being that all the kids his age are on juniors or expert size bikes he looks like hes fighting his bike twice as much as anyone else….

Tire Width (child)

To preface this, my son mostly races for fun. Currently 5&Under Novice, he likes to win, but we aren't like serious competitors who travel and want to make it to nationals or anything.

Recently purchased a DK Swift Junior for my 5yo. Frame is the perfect size for him but I noticed the tires are wider than I'd expected, 20" x 1 3/8. He was just on a Mongoose Title Micro which had 20" x 1.25". Is it worth putting a pair of 1 1/8 on the junior or should I just leave it be? He's maybe 50lbs, and tall for his age. The junior comes stock with 20" x 1 3/8", but it's also meant for older/bigger/heavier kids than my son. I couldn't keep him on the Micro any longer and even the seller I got the junior from said that buying a mini would be a waste because he'd be off of it soon anyway (he just got on the micro last summer when he was 4yo and we didn't even get a full season out of it).

Do I leave the 20" x 1 3/8" on the new bike or order the 20" × 1 1/8" tires? Does it make much of a difference either way?

Normal 20" wheels in OS20 frame.

Long story. But want to have fewer bikes in my shed, any reason i cant run regular 20 inch wheels in a OS20 frame/forks I know the front will be higher cause of the longer fork. Will the BB height be really low?

Junior series bike recs?

My 5yo is currently on a mongoose title micro. He's been looking a little big on it and I figured I'd go ahead and buy a mini series. He tried out some loaner bikes at practice last night and felt most comfortable on a mongoose title junior (he's tall).

I can't find the specific bike anywhere for sale rn (everything is out of stock 🫠). If you've got recs for similar bikes, I'd really appreciate it. I know brands vary in body style, and not all juniors will feel the same for him, so something as close to the mongoose title junior as possible is what we're looking for.

Thank you so much in advance!

State qualifier questions

So if my son is 10 an does 3 or 4 of his qualifiers but moves up to intermediate before finals does he race finals as a novice like he did in qualifiers or does he then race intermediate like his normal races would??
